The pizza industry consists of two rivals, independent pizzeria’s and pizza chains. The competition is constant and the two opponents use frequent promotions and coupons to win customers over. However, chains are more aggressive and have better resources to penetrate the market. Independent pizzeria’s use a different concept in their menu variety, offering a broader selection of toppings and a range of entrees to lure customers in. Pizza Chains like to keep it simple, they promote a standardize menu and utilize their delivery and take out service to gain more customers.

When Maddie thinks of eating pizza at a restaurant, similar to most people, she thinks of Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut has always been known as one of the leading pizza restaurants because it is spread across the country. Almost anyone can say that they have eaten pizza from there before including Maddie. However, there is another pizza restaurant that is starting to shove its foot into the pizza industry. That restaurant is Pizza Ranch. Pizza Ranch has only begun spreading its roots across the United States, therefore, it is not as widely known as Pizza Hut. In Maddie’s opinion, Pizza Ranch is a better restaurant than Pizza Hut because it has some of the many traits that make up an excellent restaurant. The most important reason that Maddie loves pizza ranch is because it is a friendly environment. From the first minute someone walks through Pizza Ranch’s door to the last, guests are treated like family. Another reason that Maddie enjoys pizza ranch is Buffet Your Way. Buffet Your Way allows Maddie to order anything that she wants and not have to pay any more money for it if she is eating the buffet. This is one of the best features of Pizza Ranch that puts it above Pizza Hut. Furthermore, Pizza Ranch always has a clean environment because the workers care about how the place looks. This restaurant also is more efficient about getting food to its customers than Pizza Hut. However, some people might argue that Pizza Hut has better tasting pizza than Pizza Ranch. Although Pizza Hut is one of the most popular Pizza restaurants, Pizza Ranch is a better restaurant because it has a friendly atmosphere, Buffet Your Way, a clean environment, and fast service.

Even though the line can get long the customers do not mind the long wait knowing that their food is precisely the way they want it done. These intense competitions can entice Pret’s consumers away with personalized. For an upscale chain, prices start at $3.50 for a smaller proportion. Pret is only found in dense urban area does not appeal similar to Panera, which could be found in rural settings. But Pret stands out from the competition with their fresh food, customer service and charity

Domino’s pizza is known as one of the largest pizza food chains in the world. Domino’s competitors are comprised of stores like Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, and Cici’s. Domino’s has over ten thousand stores in more than seventy different countries. This company prides their self on having great tasting pizza and fast delivery times. Domino’s started in the 1960’s and grew their company fast throughout the years opening franchises in different states and continents. They tried to keep up with competition by making a bigger menu, having faster delivery, and by having online ordering. Although Domino’s is known worldwide, their reputation has not always been the best. Between 2008 and 2010 the Domino’s brand was crumbling from bad social media and horrible tasting pizza. The company started to focus solely on the pizza stores they competed with and neglected the broader view of the entire quick-service category. Between 2008 and 2010 Domino’s hired Russell Weiner s Chief Marketing Officer to transform the company. The company created a sense of urgency and got employees and leaders on board to reinvent their brand. The company worked as a team to come up with solutions to make their company both profitable for Domino’s and enjoyable to consumers. According to Robert Hooijberg and Dan Denison (2012) in “Leading Culture Change in Global Organizations” Domino’s started to focus on developing its capabilities, coordination and integration, customer focus and organizational learning (p. 3). By using these tools Domino’s was able to create a successful change initiative. Domino’s reinvented their brand by creating a new pizza and flavor, utilized social media, created a new campaign, offered convenient ordering options, and added a wider variet...
Q2 Similarities: Both launches of refrigerated pasta and pizza are aim to catch up the growing trend toward ethnic foods. Both of these two lines try to capture this growing trend by providing convenience and freshness at the same time. In terms of competition, none of the refrigerated pizza and pasta category has a big brand play yet. During the same period, Little Caesars made a strong push and they have continued to grow. Little Caesars' "two for one" marketing approach was effective in infiltrating the "mom's night off" segment, and is seen by customers as a great value. This is adding direct competition into our niche market share. Little Caesars is surely not making headway with the pizza connoisseurs, but it has effectively targeted a market in which Pizza Hut does not currently have a strong presence. 50% to55% of this market is made up of family dining situations. Our marketing team has conducted multiple data analyses on ways in which we can gain market share from Little Caesars within this market. After much thought and many hours of research, we have devised a marketing plan that will potentially improve our market share.

The problem of Coal fires is not limited to Centralia, Pennsylvania, however. It is a problem that has caused major difficulties both in other areas of the United States (like Colorado) and also other parts of the world. In Indonesia, for instance, a series of forest fires in 1982 ignited a series of coal fires, 106 of which the government was able to extinguish, leaving 159 that are still raging to this very day. (Amos) A coal fire in Jharia, India, that had already caused the government to relocate the town’s population, destroyed a riverbank, unleashing a rush of water in the underground mines that drowned 78 coal workers. By some estimates, fires that rage in the northern coal belt of China burn something like 200 million tons of coal each year. (Krajick)
