My Christian worldview impacts my life in many aspects such as career, family, marriage, and personal life. I believe that God wants us to be in a relationship with him, our family, and our neighbors. By applying my Christian worldview to my career and relationships I am better able to fulfill God’s calling and live in fellowship with him. According to Veith, the doctrine of vocation states, “God has chosen to work through human beings, who, in their different capacities and according to their different talents, serve each other (p.14).” This doctrine emphasizes that God has made each individual complex and different, which allows them to give to the world in various ways in order to serve each other. Furthermore, “The purpose of the doctrine …show more content…
While I might not remember every patient that I see, it is important that I implement Christian values into every encounter that I have. One element of my Christian worldview that relates to my career is compassionate caring. Jesus has the most comprehensive description of compassionate caring in the story of the Good Samaritan. In the book of Luke 10:30-35, Jesus describes a man who is traveling and is attacked by robbers. A Samaritan stops and takes him to an inn where he bandages him and cares for him. As a nurse, compassionate care in central to my job as a health care worker and child of Christ. My thinking is directed through my Christian worldview, because I see patients as people and not just patients. The element that differentiates a Christian nurse is the gift of compassion and empathy. Christian nurses are able to assess patients both physically and spiritual in order to provide holistic care. The implications of my belief are that I am carrying out the calling that God has given to me by practicing compassionate care. The Bible gives a clear description of the level of compassion and care that we are to give unto others, and it can be seen through my Christian worldview that I will practice the art of caring in all aspects of my
As ancient Rome began to fall, Christianity began rising. Around 2,000 years ago, Jesus of Nazareth was born, later to be known as the Messiah or Son of God. When people of the Roman era began to hear of such a powerful being, they began to convert to Christianity. Why did Christianity take hold on the ancient world; Christianity took hold on the ancient world because it offered immortality, equality, and it was spread like wildfire.
I pray that the busyness of life, the tasks that need to be done, the science of healthcare, sleep deprivation, or monotony will never cloud the love and compassion that I have for people. Personally, I love making connections with people. I love giving people a chance to tell their stories. During my nursing practice, I foresee that I will do my best to be the most caring nurse possible. The responsibility lays within each individual nurse as to the level of caring and compassion that they bring to carrying out their nursing duties. I will continually choose to focus on the needs of my patients above my own. Displaying empathy, I will strive to put myself in each one of their shoes and make self-reflection a priority. I foresee that I will do whatever is within my power to enhance trust, comfort, happiness, and wellness for my patients. This may look like spending extra time with a patient, visiting a patient when I’m off-duty, providing emotional or spiritual resources to a patient, respecting a patient’s beliefs and values, providing for any physical needs or extra comfort measures, or just lending a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. My patients will always know that they are not
This is one of the values that is of the utmost importance when being a nurse. We must have compassion for our patients. We as nurses will make an impact every single day in the lives of people in our community. We need to realize that we are the voice of the voiceless and the advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves. You realize that even by helping one person, you are making a difference and are making the world a better place one patient at a time. Some of us may enter the field and some of us may be continuing on in our education, but we all share one thing in common, we are all nurses and we all made
The biblical worldview influences me with deciding on what career would be best for me and how I should do it. Decision making is sometimes difficult for some people, unless they feel God has given them a “calling” in a certain career
The official mission statement for the House of Compassion is “Called by our faith in Jesus Christ to act in love, the House of Compassion responds to the needs of our neighbors and advocates justice and dignity for all” (Frohwein, 2013). While on earth so much of Jesus ministry was focused on healing, feeding, clothing, and lifting up the marginalized. He feed and healed people before he professed to them that he was the Bread of Life and the Messiah. This is way it is important that we too are willing to feed and clot...
I believe that we should always think of others needs and do no harm to others even if they have harmed you in some way. I treat others the way that I would want them to treat me and I expect that others will treat me the same way. I understand that not everyone feels the same as I do and that I cannot control the way that others decide to treat me. I show compassion for everyone I come in contact with and I treat every patient the same way despite the fact that they may be unruly or even try to hurt me. I have accepted the fact that there are some people out there who will try to hurt me despite the fact that all I want to do is help them. I feel that everyone in the health care profession should feel the same way as I do and try to keep themselves from losing their mercy that they show towards others. After being in the health care field for so long, many people stop caring for others and become detached from the patients. I agree that we cannot take every case personally but we still need to retain our humanity and continue to show compassion to fellow
What is a Judea Christian Worldview? A Christian worldview is more than just a simple expression of one’s faith, it is the foundation of everything you say and do through the lens of a Biblical perspective. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Gen. 1:1) Now in the midst of all this creation, there was chaos.
Although a values set which includes love, honesty, goodness, kindness, self-control, and peace seem non-controversial, identifying those values with Christianity makes them controversial. It is important professionally to be sensitive to others, colleagues or patients, while not compromising one’s own values and creating distress. Recognizing that I personally and professionally provide an example of standards valuable to the nursing profession is important on this journey to advanced practice nursing. I do enjoy the time that I spend with those who believe and behave similar to me, but I also enjoy providing compassion and kindness to those who believe and behave differently, whether those differences are based on culture, religion, age, or life
What is Christianity all about? What are the basic beliefs of Christianity and how did it begin? According to (AllAboutReligion, 2010),” Christianity began about 2000 years ago in Judea, [presently known today as Israel] with Jesus Christ and His faithful group of disciples”. This paper will address the viewpoint of the Christian faith and its outcome. The central message of Christianity is based upon the teachings of Jesus and his promises. Christianity teaches that there is merely one God in all existence and that God created the universe. It also teaches that Jesus is the only way to be set free from the coming judgment of God and that Jesus desires his values and his standards to abound. Moreover, Christianity is the only religion that offers a savior. Religion has been in every culture since the beginning of human society and there are many religions competing for the heart of humanity throughout the world at large. The following characterizations are based on the Christian faith: redemption, covenant and grace. Although Christianity is a matter of choice for the human race, what type of influence did it have on the China, Africa, and Rome inhabitants?
As a Christian nurse, one should care for the whole patient, which encompasses emotional health, physical health and spiritual health. First, a Christian nurse has the responsibility of ensuring that a patient has adequate care of his or her emotional health. The nurse caters for the emotional health of the patient, in several ways. The Christian faith requires that individuals handle others with love. Therefore, a Christian nurse should express love, for her patients. The nurse provides love...
Nursing focuses on being patient advocates and providing the best possible care for each of our patients. We are teachers, counselors, friends, maids, and so much more to so many people. To me, Christian nursing serves this same purpose, be we do so with a different motivation. We don’t do so because it’s our job, we do so because true Christian nurses have a servant’s heart. A Christian’s identity is entwined in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Christianity Project I have learned the importance of ministry during my stay at KCC. I’ve learned that ministry comes in various from, sharing the word of God with others to assisting a peer with homework or giving a friend a ride to a store. All our actions can be considered a type of ministry. Throughout my studies at KCC I have learned that Ministry means simply being a servant to God and to man. Before coming to KCC, I thought ministry focused directly on peaching and teaching within the four walls of the church.
My mission of being a nurse is to provide a non-judgmental care to all those in need regardless of race, spiritual beliefs, color, life style choices, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, financial status and disability. The aspects of my nursing philosophy and the belief/value system include knowledge, time management, compassion, caring, advocacy, respect, honesty and patient privacy. I believe every patient is
Islamic Worldview There are many religious worldviews that will line up with parts of the bible and others that are the complete opposite. The truth is that there is only one worldview that Christians need to focus on. However, it is important for Christians to be able to know how their worldview compares to others. For this assignment I have chosen to compare and contrast Islam and Christianity.
Historically, the nursing profession has roots in the Christian concept of ministry. A caring ministry calls for persons to serve others who are in need physically, mentally, and spiritually. This includes family, friends, neighbors, the sick, the poor, and yes, even our enemies. We are instructed in the early studies of our profession to see those that we serve as “whole” individuals. This includes the physical, mental, and spiritual being. Jesus was our first and primary example of how nursing and ministry work together. He not only saw what people were, but what they could be, and he showed us that caring for the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of people is important to health. His compassion for
