There are many different qualities people believe a president should contain. For centuries the United States has gone through their fair share of good presidents, and bad ones. Presidential qualities make up whether a president was considered a good leader, or a not so good leader. The three presidential qualities I believe every president should contain are, a strong vision, strong leadership, and has to be a public servant. Many presidents in the past did not have a strong vision and this is why I believe they failed at their presidency. A strong vision for our country is a very important thing to have while you are president. Lincoln Is one example of having a prime strong vision for our country. He “understood that there 's a sequence …show more content…
Lincoln i believe was the best when it came to his strong leadership. “Lincoln surrounded himself with people, including his rivals, who had strong egos and high ambitions; who felt free to question his authority’ and who were also unafraid to argue with him.” This proved that Lincoln had strong leadership in the way that he was not afraid to be around his rivals, and that he did have enough self control and respect to take their high ambitions, and strong egos. I believe Lincoln was a very humble man and was not into arguing or bickering about things when it could be settled in a much more professional way. Which also shows that he cared more about the union and the things it needed, rather than his rivals. Franklin Roosevelt also showed strong leadership by, “He had the strength and the leadership abilities to win World War 2, he handled the delicate diplomacy in dealing with wartime US allies, like Churchill, stalin and De Gauile and Chiang Kai-Chek” We know throughout the course of history these US allies have been known to have strong tempers, and weren’t always the people to compromise with each other. Roosevelt showed his strong leadership through this because he did have a good relationship with these 4 allies, and he dealt with these four big leaders in a very sophisticated and professional way in which a strong leader should act. It would have been different if Roosevelt …show more content…
Lincoln showed his public servant quality by, “letting random citizens come up and talk to him about why he makes the decisions he does, and he reassures that he has their best interest in mind.” Lincoln i believe was one of the best presidents that had the quality of being a public servant. Lincoln actually cared what his people had to say, what they thought about certain things, and how they were doing in their life. Imagine if lincoln didn’t take the opinions of people and just did everything on his own? he would not be known as one of the greatest presidents our country has ever known. He did things to get equal right for black and whites, which blacks at the time begged for. He sat outside and talked to hundreds and hundreds of people, when in reality he didn’t have too. Lincoln had a commitment to himself to serve the greater good of the people. With him focusing on this it revolutionized and forever changed a nation for the generations to follow. Bill Clinton is also an example of a president who had a public servant quality in him. He showed this by, “he was very serious about balancing the federal budget and reaching out to the business community, but at the same time not abandoning the needs of poor people.” In addition to President Clinton being one of the very serious presidents of our time. He wanted to get things done and was very firm in some of his beliefs.
The decisions made by our leaders during the world wars greatly affected our history and the worlds. President Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt made great strides to protect our national security and our future. Both had similarities and differences in their strategy to combat the issue of war. Both made the United States more involved in world affairs today.
During his presidency Roosevelt had a tendency to carry the big stick then to speak softly. He got quite involved with the situation in Central and South America and also there was the controversy of the acquisition of the Philippines in the Pacific Islands. Roosevelt was also able to show the soft-spoken, sophisticated side of his diplomacy in dealing with major powers outside the Western Hemisphere. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for his negotiations with Russia and Japan, hardly the actions of a war monger. Roosevelt was just an energetic person and he wanted to civilize what he thought of as uncivilized countries.
Abraham Lincoln is regarded by many Americans as the greatest president to ever hold office in the history of the United States, and his reputation is definitely well deserved. Lincoln wasn't scared to stand up and fight for what he knew was right. He was convinced that within the branches of government, the presidency alone was empowered not only to uphold the Constitution, but also to protect, and defend it. Lincoln was able to lead our country and preserve the Union, keeping the United States from splintering during the devastating times of the Civil War. As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization, and he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that changed the war into a battle for freedom and declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. That November, Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address, which stated how a country must be dedicated to human freedom in order to survive. He dedicated the battlefield to the soldiers who had perished, and called on the living to finish the task the dead soldiers had begun. (Donald, 1995) Lincoln believed that democracy could be a lasting form of government. He showed a nobility of character that had worldwide appeal, and he was a man of great integrity. However, Lincoln was not only the 16th president of the United States, he was an American hero. Lincoln was a well-rounded individual and he had numerous outstanding qualities. However, it is important to remember that Lincoln also led a private life, complete with close friends and family.
By use of careful wording and also leading by example Teddy was able to create a vision for his followers as well.
The leader of our nation must carry some consistent characteristics. They must have a desire to want to improve the country. They must be diplomatic, and willing to work with others domestically and globally. Our presidency and the executive branch is not a mess. Taking out the politics of policy is essential to creating a good society, and the president must be at the forefront of this issue.

Decisiveness, Inspirational Leadership, Intellect, Communication Skills, Leadership. These five qualities are what make a great president, and they are also connected to five different Presidents. The first President is Harry S. Truman. He was known very well for his Decisiveness.
The president of the United States is a leader that the country follows, but by choice; not by force. The American people are charged with deciding every four year the person that represents their country. There are many qualities that make up a good president like a strong, persuading personality, intelligent political skills with experience, and their ability to unite the nation as a whole.
Many often believe that in order to be a good president they need to know all about politics but in reality they need to have good character traits if they do not have those then they will never be a good president. The United States of America has had many incredible presidents. With the elections coming up some people need to think about what is going to take to make this country great again. The presidents have had so many great experiences with amazing character traits. Good character traits are the key to being the best president.
Leadership qualities often vary person to person based on what they believe is important to them and their values. The main leadership qualities that I look for in a strong president are, humility, confidence in the face of adversity, a strong vision for the country's future, and the ability to be a bipartisan leader. All presidents will face adversity at some point during their time in office and they need to have the confidence to react appropriately based on the information given to them at the time. On occasion new information on an issue may come to light which totally changes a situation, putting the reaction of a president in the wrong. In these moments, presidents need humility to be able to change their stance and move in the right

Although the presidency is a great opportunity to influence European policies, it is also a big challenge, and during the second Presidency in 2006 Finland concentrated on “tackling Europe’s current challenges such as security, globalisation, demographic change and maintaining economic welfare” (Committee of the Regions 2006, 4). The Finnish government knew that the Presidency would be an opportunity for them to take the European agenda forward as smoothly and efficiently as possible in order to deliver visible results and to be able to use the state as a self-interested mediator strategy successfully. At the start of the 2006 Presidency, Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen commented on the Finnish Presidency of the European Union that alongside the other key aspects, “the environment agenda will also be demanding during our Presidency.
The most important characteristics for a president to have is honesty, trust, make great choices for our country and, be a great leader for the United States. Honesty is and means a lot to most people in the U.S. like people don't won't the president to say he or she is going to do something then never do it. The people of the U.S. won't the leader of our country to be honest about their choices. No matter whom he or she is they should make great choices for our country. If he or she were to lie to the people of the United States that would cause the people to think less of the president and lose their trust.
In a good president their has to have good characteristics. A good president needs to have a good education about school and what is politics. Because if you don't know anything about politics then basically you don't understand how the government of the United States works. When you become president in the State of the Union Address you need to talk about how that government is going to role because then it will hit a disaster. Presidents should be trustworthy and wisdom committed. Because they are followed by millions and millions of people looking for words of wisdom. They need to be trustworthy because the people didn't voted for a president who isn't trustworthy and is just going to be telling it's citizens
