In recent years, employers are seeing a trend amongst young workers. Their complaints are mostly being dissatisfied with employees overall performance and are shocked to discover they lack the most basic skill set and knowledge needed to be successful in their job. It is becoming common practice for employees to refuse to perform certain tasks, or not be self motivated enough to complete an assignment without constant monitoring and assistance. Employees are showing up late to work with or without notice, and onsite training for skills such as team coordination and “motivation workshops” are becoming a necessity in the workplace. Employers are looking for professional, stable employees they can depend upon. In order for an employee to be successful, there are certain traits that they must possess such as good communication skills, dependability, and a positive attitude. A worker that retains these essential qualities is considered an asset to a company. Good communication skills are crucial in a work setting. A perfect example of this is during the interview process. Employers get a first look at this early on and can determine the level of communication skills an individual has based on this interaction. Good communication will make a potential employee stand out amongst other potential applicants. This skill can help to make work effective and efficient, build solid work relationships, and prevent any confusion or misinterpretation. Employees that display these qualities are generally more successful, and more likely to achieve job security. No matter what the field or profession, valuable employees will always be in demand. That is why traits like good communication skills, dependability, and positive work ethics are universally considered to be good worker qualities that every wage earner should strive to reflect.
