In project 9D that was assigned, it provided skills that were taught throughout chapter 9 that was able to be mastered in order to complete project 9D. In this particular project we was responsible of recording/assigning a macro, being able to activate the macro in sequence , writing a set of commands, using ActiveX control buttons, and add or take away from the commands code (View Code feature). Those 3 skills was the major lesson of the entire chapter 9. This was a pretty lengthy chapter that’s full of new, interesting, and useful material.
Starting off with the first task that was being taught in chapter 9 was learning how to record a macro. Macro is a verbatim set of actions that can all be grouped into one action without the repetition of steps that’s needs to be applied. Macro has the ability to eliminate tasks such as selecting range, adding/removing columns and rows, adding the current date to a spreadsheet, and protecting /unprotecting worksheets. Without the macro feature and without fully paying attention one can become distracted and unexpectedly mess up important data collected. In order to work with macros you must select a macro security setting to enable macros when using excel, add the developer tab to the ribbon, and then saving the workbook that includes macros as an excel-macro enabled workbook type of file. After getting equipped with learning what macros are and how to record them the chapter then brought about the “Assigning a macro to a button on the quick access toolbar” task which requires you to create a button on the quick access Toolbar that will allow one to activate the macro. In order to complete task properly one must become familiar with the backstage view of the workbook and the different opti...

In MOD’s excel workbook I have used many macros to create shortcuts to different sheets and also macros to perform various tasks. Overall using macros will speed up how fast the end user can use and navigate the sheet and also make it easier to use. I have also used auto-sum, this automatically entered in a certain formula that I had chosen. By using auto-sum I saved time by not having to enter in long formulas. I have also used an automated filter tool, this tool filters out any data that the user decides is unneeded, which will help the user as it does not show data that useless to them or is unneeded.

As this was a review of the chapter before our test, students overall did a good job applying the skills we have learned throughout this chapter. Every single one of my students can correctly identify a number based on the tens and ones, and can find the tens and ones of any given two digit number. I did not have any student fail to identify if a number was greater than or less than another number. In retrospect, I realized that during this lesson I placed very little emphasis on the greater than and less than signs themselves, but this was a large component of the independent practice work. Overall, I have been impressed with the learning progress my students made during this chapter. It was a quick chapter with only 5 lessons, but students moved quickly and comfortably through the content.

Time sure does fly; in the blink of an eye, yet another 7.5-week class has come and gone. Just like life, it is scary to think that in just a few short years I will be graduating college and be in search of a future career. The magnitudes of readings, assignments, PowerPoint lectures, and videos have all contributed to the valuable knowledge I have gained since taking this course. Nothing that was presented or required was seen as invaluable towards my progression of career development. This career development course has allowed me to do some self-exploration, career research, and help me understand what influencing factors were related to the job market. Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future.

The skills a project manager should have are defined by Richman as people skills, project management skills and technical skills. In the case of such a large project such as the building of the TGD the project manager also needs to have integration skills and great knowledge of the organisation.

I find a similar pleasure in seeing the numbers "come out right." When I first entered the work force, starting out in the actuarial area, the areas of my day-to-day work that I most enjoyed were researching and analyzing data so that I could logically apply the information to the business opportunity at hand. Consequently, I realized that the most prudent path to accomplishing this would be to further my education in the advanced studies of statistics and I have been preparing myself by taking a year of higher-level math and statistics courses at Ohio State. I've maintained a 4.0 GPA, and am confident that pursuing a Ph.D. and later entering a career in statistical consulting or teaching is the right step for me.
