In order to define if something fits or suitable to another thing, the first step which we need to do is putting those two things side by side. Just like finding a shirt that fit us, we could not tell whether it would fit us unless we saw the shirt. In the same way, before I can tell if this shirt, namely “a good project manager” fit me, let us consider how it looks like first. Once overall picture of this shirt has been drawn by defining the responsibilities of project manager, looking thoroughly and trying by analyzing attributes and skills which a good project manager should have and comparing with my personalities and experiences are the final steps to determine if this shirt fits me.

Leader performance and personalities will affect team performance both directly and indirectly. One of the most important characteristics of a good leader is leadership by example. People may follow leader’s words if they are reasonable. However, those words will be more persuasive and have solid impact if the leader can prove that they are true and practical by implementing himself or herself. From my experience, almost all of managers and teachers who are admired and considered as great influencers have this characteristic. They can energize people, because they are energetic. They can persuade people, because they are motivated. They can successfully encourage team to work harder, because they are hard working. Almost everything which project manager do will serve as standard for the team. I strongly believe in this idea of being a good leader. I participated in many activities when I was in the college, and some of them, I served as a leader of the team. Each person has different personality and point of view. Being active listener and open-minded are necessary. Conflicts are unavoidable when we work with other people. Conflict can be classified into constructive conflict which can improve teams’ decision quality and destructive conflict which occur when two people or group of people debate based on emotion. A good project manager should be a person who can understand both side and resolve the conflict. Not only resolving conflict, being empathy also can improve individual performance. Once project manager understands team member’s situation and feeling, he can give him or her advice, then the problem can be resolved. In this case, empathy is also one of my attributions. I have been in many places. For instance, a small town, where I was born in a developing country, and one of the center of the world as New York. Those opportunities provided me great chances to learn and understand point of views and roots of those thought of people.
After analyzing attributes and skills which a good project manager should have and comparing with my personalities and experiences, I found that there are many common aspects between them. In other words, this shirt, namely a good project manager fit me in many points. However, there are still room for me to improve myself along this way. Gaining more experiences, adjusting perspective and acquiring more skills would shape me to fit this shirt perfectly
An efficient Project manager should be aware of the necessary critical skills, Should learn to communicate effectively with every level, manage the resources in the right way, put strict processes in place, delegate tasks accordingly, do adequate testing, keep realistic expectations, never assume and don’t be afraid of what might go wrong.
Keeping a calm, cool, and collected attitude, even when curveballs are thrown, signifies a strong leader. When an egregious amount of errors or flaws occur during a project, a poor leader will be effected by it negatively and lose control of their team. A poor leader gets frustrated, angry, or even depressed during periods of struggles. An effective leader, notwithstanding, remains composed, and they will not allow even the worst of setbacks to affect their leadership style.

Great leaders develop styles around their personality and usually act in a way that promotes what they truly believe (Marker, 2010). Leadership is all about power and influence. Leaders use their power to get goals accomplished. A simple distinction is between two forms of power. Socialized power is used to benefits others and fulfill their needs. The other form is personalized power, power that is used strictly for personal gain. These two forms are not mutually exclusive, a leader can use their power to benefit society but also gain personally. However, leaders can become intoxicated by their power, engaging in unjust behavior simply because they have the power to and will get away with it. A strong personality should be shown so that the role can be maintained. With my experience, I have met different people with different personalities. Some will have challenging personalities which can be a hindrance in implementing the management plan however, showing the staff the you have the courage, confidence, knowledge and skills to perform a task can greatly influence them to achieve a common goal. From my experience, I have learned that to be an effective and a good leader you must also be a good follower and a good role model to the other team members. If the manager or leader is complying strictly with the rules and policies, there is a higher chance that the staff will also follow the rules and policies based on my experience.

I understand that managing people is a small part of successful project management, however managing people ineffectively can really derail a project. In order to avoid individuals who are ineffective during a project or cause division throughout the team, project managers need to coach and support his or her team members. (Hall, H. 2016) This is why I have learned from this course that communication approach is vital to the project and having a prompt, appropriate response to your team is important to their success as well. During the simulation scenarios each time the team was met with an issue they had an emotional reaction. It became very clear if I did not manage those insecurities and stress, the morale was a huge factor in having the ability to move forward. All the pieces to the project management puzzle are valid, although the people who make the pieces of the puzzle are the most important part of project management. There is always going to be uncertainty and speed bumps throughout the project lifecycle, but communication and managing people is as important as the pieces of the puzzle that I bullet pointed
