Since, Sugar is one of the main causes of obesity in america then shouldn’t it be stopped, and should people be aware of it and try to prevent it from happening?According to “Health Harvard Publication” ”To prevent obesity and maintain a healthy body weight ,eat a well balanced diet and exercise regularly.” According to “Lynn Loffee” ,”Here’s what you could do to lose weight or avoid becoming overweight or obese: cut down your consumption of fatty and sugary foods.”This evidence supports my

Sugar not only affects your body but it also affects your brain.According to “Carolyn Gregoire” ,”In fact, research has shown that the brains of obese children actually light differently when they taste sugar.”According to “Carolyn Gregoire” ,” Over activating this reward system kickstarts a series of unfortunate events - loss of control, craving, and increased tolerance to sugar.” This evidence supports my claim because it shows why sugar is a big problem today in the U.S. In conclusion, some others may think a different way.
Other people may say that sugar is not a big problem in the U.S, and that sugar is not bad for you.According to “Katie Koerner”, “But not all sugar is automatically bad for us.”But in may case sugar is a big problem.According to “News Channel 3 Wreg Memphis”, “Some doctors say sugar may be the number one killer in America right
Jon Gabriel explains how sugar has become an addictive drug like nicotine, the only difference is that its legal. Once we become hooked on it we become habituated to its effects and need more and more to satisfy ourselves. As a result of the increase in marketing and the on going dependence on sugary foods and beverages, children are taking in more and more sugar and obtaining less and less nutrients. According to Gentry Lasater,
Many food companies rely on sugar in there foods for better sells and money. Sugar in foods is what makes their products addictive and liked to consumers. Researchers believe that sugar can be more addictive than hardcore drugs. Body “Almost everyone’s heard
Obesity in America is a very serious problem affecting many Americans currently and is a problem that continues to grow each year. “Over the past 40 years, the prevalence of obesity has more than doubled in the United States” (Wimalawansa). This issue is known to many but believed not be an issue to care much about but this is not true. Obesity in America affects everyone regardless if they are obese or not. In order to resolve the problem, we can slaughter all the adults that are currently obese in America.
Obesity in the United States continues growing alarmingly. Approximately 66 % of adults and 33 % of children and teenagers in the US are overweight. Obesity is the result of fat accumulated over time due to the lack of a balanced diet and exercise. An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than thirty percent is considered obese (Whitney & Rolfes, 2011, pg. 271).
You can find sugar in most foods. Everything from salad dressing to canned soup. Even the bread we eat has a high concentration of sugar. All of the sugar that America is intakes is starting to add up. Today two out of three adults and one out of three children in the United States are overweight. These illnesses would be far less prevalent if we dialed back our consumption of sugar. Not to say that sugar is the main reason for diabetes, but it is definitely a determining factor. Eating too much of
According to the article, Too Much Can Make Us Sick (http://www.sugarscience.org/too-much-can-make-us-sick/), “Heart disease. Diabetes. These chronic conditions are among the leading causes of death worldwide. Increasingly, scientists are focusing on a common set of underlying metabolic issues that raise people's risk for chronic disease. It turns out that the long-term overconsumption of added sugars is linked to many of these dysfunctions.” This means that people living today, have a lot more trouble with diseases because of our unhealthy sugar intake compared to the
Everyday Americans die from the diseases they carry from obesity. Many Americans over eat because their social problems or because they are hereditary. Many plans have been discussed but finding the solution is the problem. Junk foods and unhealthy beverages have corrupted children’s minds all over the nation and putting a stop on it could lead to other benefits. Unhealthy foods and drinks should be taxed and healthy foods should be advertised more to help prevent American obesity.
Over the last 50 years, sugar has become a staple in the American diet and can be found virtually anywhere. In fact, it is often hiding where you would least expect it. Sugar is no longer found only in sweet treats, but in many of the basic meals we eat on a daily basis. In saying this, it isn’t surprising that many adults and children are consuming more sugar than our bodies can process. Growing up in a very health conscious family, the notion that sugar is addictive and unhealthy has always been stressed in my household. While some kids would flaunt their candy bar at lunch, I was left eating an apple. At a young age, I was resentful of the lack of sugar in our cabinets. However, as I’ve grown older I have realized that my parents did me
For years doctors have been saying that refined sugars are empty calories and consist of absolutely no vitamins or minerals that people need to survive. Dentists warn that sugary foods encourage tooth decay. Many people avoid sweet food because it can lead to obesity, heart problems, diabetes and cancer. These negative responses by people’s bodies are actually warnings. Maybe people eat sugar for other reasons than the sweet taste. The human body's negative responses to sugar may be a similar purpose to the reason kids feel pain when they are playing too roughly. People’s consumption of sweet foods might also serve as a sign of defiance against their bodies’ health limitations. What many people do not realize is that their tasty treats can affect their mind and emotions.
Richards uses this quote as well as a quote from Laura A. Schmidt of the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, in order to reinforce how bad too much sugar is for the human body saying, “The new paradigm hypothesizes that… too much sugar does not just make us fat; it can also make us sick.” This again reestablishes the fact based reporting that is in direct contrast from the Konie article which uses personal experiences and anecdotes in order to support her
We are all familiar with sugar. It is sweet, delicious, and addictive; yet only a few of us know that it is deadly. When it comes to sugar, it seems like most people are in the mind frame knowing that it could be bad for our health, but only a few are really taking the moderate amounts. In fact, as a whole population, each and everyone of us are still eating about 500 extra calories per day from sugar. Yes, that seems like an exaggerated number judging from the tiny sweet crystals we sprinkle on our coffee, but it is not. Sugar is not only present in the form of sweets and flavourings, it is hidden in all the processed foods we eat. We have heard about the dangers of eating too much fat or salt, but we know very little about the harmful effects of consuming too much sugar. There still isn’t any warnings about sugar on our food labels, nor has there been any broadcasts on the serious damages it could do to our health. It has come to my concern during my research that few
When a person gains weight, they think the main cause is the fat that is included in the food they eat. They are terribly mistaken. According to the video Hungry for Change, they say, “ In the 1900’s, an average person only consumed about 15g of sugar a day. But in the present, modern adults consumes 70-80g of sugar a day, and teens consumes about 120-150g”. Sugar is not only a unhealthy diet and obesity, but it is the main cause of overweight. Sugar does not contain fat, but when people eat more calories than they burn, the remaining calories stays as fat. By being overweight, it can impact a person’s entire quality of life. In the physical health, the right kind of food gives you the strength and energy to make it through in your everyday lifestyle. In other words, by eating the wrong kind of foods, you won't get the energy you need in your life. In the mental/emotional health, a little stress is good for your body because it gives ...
The word “sugar” has become extremely negative and almost feared now more than ever. When people hear sugar, they think candy, juice, and other bad foods. What they don’t think about is the sugar that is in fruit, raw honey, and other healthier options. Sugar is healthy to an extent because as glucose, it is the most efficient way to get energy to go throughout our days, although artificial, added, processed and too much sugar is definitely unhealthy. Yet, too much of almost anything can be unhealthy, right?
Sugary foods and drinks may not only contribute to weight gain, but it could also increase your risk for heart disease. Researchers just found out that sugar industries have been paying scientists to keep this link under wraps for years. Heart disease has been the leading cause of death in the U.S for almost a century. It kills almost 610,000 citizens a year. The industry figured that if the people didn’t know about the danger they would continue to buy and eat sugary sweets. They were right.
