The word “sugar” has become extremely negative and almost feared now more than ever. When people hear sugar, they think candy, juice, and other bad foods. What they don’t think about is the sugar that is in fruit, raw honey, and other healthier options. Sugar is healthy to an extent because as glucose, it is the most efficient way to get energy to go throughout our days, although artificial, added, processed and too much sugar is definitely unhealthy. Yet, too much of almost anything can be unhealthy, right? Why is it such a surprise that sugar is in that category? Without sugar, we would have little to no energy. Our bodies crave the sweet stuff for a reason. Without it, we are “so stressed, tired, and worn down” (Konie) depending on our bodies’ individual needs and reactions to it. However, the sugars we crave are whole and natural ones. Not cookies, soda, or ice cream, no matter how much we think we want them.
