Some of our furry friends come from city shelters, found on the street, and others have been given up by their former owners. Our partnering shelters include the SPCA Northern Nevada Adoption Center and the Nevada Humane Society. Our animals have not been purchased from breeders and we encourage saving lives by adopting from shelters rather than for-profit breeders whose practices are unregulated. Whiskers and Tails will be a no-kill adoption center, and cats that have not been adopted are able to make Whiskers and Tails a forever home or until adoption takes place. Upon arrival, cats are placed in a private, separate “Welcome Room” to become introduced to their new surroundings and environment. In the Welcome Room, they have the opportunity to meet other cats and the staff, play with toys, and establish a sense of comfort. We do not accept found/unwanted cats from customers, because we need to ensure that each cat is not exposed to new and dangerous germs. All cats have been seen by a veterinarian, are up to date on vaccines (for their age), tested for any diseases, microchipped, and dewormed. All cats at the cafe are available for adoption and have been screened for health and behavior issues to verify that they will get along well with other cats and human visitors; however, if you decide to adopt, we will also provide you with a list of local veterinarians who will provide a free or discounted exam to adopted …show more content…
To properly care and feed our kitties, there will be a $5 fee upon entrance. Please remember that all cats must be handled with care. Our furry friends may be petted and held, and a variety of fun toys are made available for playtime. We do ask that children under 18 must be supervised by an adult within the cat lounging area. For safety precautions and health risks, cats are groomed daily and nails are properly kept trimmed.

In many cases Savannah cats are known for being cute, furry and cuddlable but we need to respect them in their natural behavior tendencies to provide them a suitable stimulating environment. By doing so we have to encourage environmental enrichment for the physical and mental health for these Savannah’s. Having a proper environment increases these species brain activity, well-being, senses, stimuli, and relieves them from boredom. These cats tends to get physical, physiologic, and behavioral disorders for stress and lack of stimulation. It can cause these species to do urine marking, house soiling, owner directed aggression, behavioral over grooming, displacement activities and reduce comfort behavior. For Savannah cats are a cross between
In as little as six years, 67,000 puppies can come from the brood of just two dogs. In seven years, two cats and their offspring can create 420,000 kittens. There are approximately 70,000 kittens and puppies born each day (Quirk). What happens to all of these pets? Most of them will never make it to their first birthdays. According to Robert Aaron, "Every year in the United States, 8 million to 10 million cats and dogs are given up to animal shelters and others are abandoned." This may be due to the "throwaway" mentality of the populace today. Four to five million pets are euthanized every year in shelters, not always humanely (Aaron).
The modern world is a hazardous place for house cats. It is important to realize the many dangers that lay in wait beyond the front door. While a healthy indoor cat has an average lifespan of 12-15 (and even as many as 25!) years, the average lifespan of an indoor/outdoor cat is reduced by 2-3 years simply by going outside (Indoor and Outdoor Cat Life Expectancy Differences). A cat who goes outdoors also has a minefield of risks to manage every day, most of them created by humans. Feral and pet dogs are a major risk to outdoor cats, and, although it is said that cats will avoid busy roads, there is no evidence to support this, and car strikes take down countless cats each year. In 1993, the newspaper “Animal News” published findings that as many as 5.4 million cats were hit by cars that year. While this does include feral, stray, and otherwise unowned cats, it is important to realize the dangers that cars present to your cat. Another danger that presents itself is humans themselves. While it may be...
Pet Therapy A bus carrying several clinical students from the local college pulls up in front of the nursing home. The students begin to unload some boxes which contain puppies and kittens ranging in age from three to six months. Once inside, the students begin to pass the puppies and kittens out to the patients that are waiting expectantly in the recreation room. Some patients are alone, some are in groups, but all are delighted to see the animals arrive.

Today’s domestic house cats sure have changed and traveled far from their old wildcat ancestors across the world. Cats have traveled halfway across the world and now live around the world in various breeds and sizes. Even though they live today in their domesticated form they still retain some of the traits that their ancestors bestowed upon them. The African wildcat is believed to be the ancestor of all domestic cats, and they’re even still alive to this day. Over thousands of years of speciation, domestic house cats came to be from these wildcat ancestors.
The types of employees (called partners) that Starbucks seeks are people that are adaptable, self motivated, passionate, creative, and team players. Starbucks seeks adaptable employees in order for the operation to run smoothly. If one partner is not able to show up to work and they are shorthanded, all of the other employees should know how to work the register, take orders at the drive thru and brew the coffee in order for the whole operation to continue to operate as designed. Self-motivation is also a huge key because Starbucks looks for people to be ready and willing to continually improve themselves and the quality of work that they do. Being passionate and creative also goes along with being a Starbucks partner. You have to love coming
When I bought Katie to my apartment, she was so frightened. She meowed all night. I called Judy to say that I didn't think I could care for her, but Judy encouraged me to give the cat time to adjust, because she was in a new surrounding. I started feeding my new cat fresh Purina One Special Care dry food and Friskies moist food along with a fresh bowl of water each morning and evening. I also bougth a cat brush to stroke her long luxurious black and white hair, plus I took her to the Vet for an annual booster and rabie shot so I could give the records of the shots to my Manager.
ago I adopted a kitten from a local family. The kitten was an outside cat in which the family fed
The American people love fast food, but little do they know about what is really in their “hamburger” or “chicken nuggets”, and what damage the real ingredients in these foods can cause. Fast food has become a great part in many people’s lives today because you could get it fast and on the move and it’s also cheap. Everyone has eaten fast food at one point in their lives, unless of course they don’t eat meat, but they really don’t have a clue as to what they’re ingesting. This paper will inform you as to what scientists have found in these deadly foods and what can happen in the future if you continue to eat these foods.
America has struggled balancing out what it’s considered to be healthy. Children look at skinny as the definition of healthy and do not realize that not every “fat” person is unhealthy and not every skinny person is healthy. It’s not to be skinny but to live a healthier lifestyle. Children consume food from their schools and homes almost every day, so what they eat is not in their control necessarily. Parents and schools lack knowledge on what they feed their children, and because they lack knowledge it causes children to become overweight or obese.
