Anthony Robbins has through his books helped me grow my understanding on what it means to be a life coach and how it can change people’s lives. He is expienced in his field and has held many seminars talking to people about strategies they can use to improve their life. One area he teaches in is business strategies where he helps to improve business performance and increase productivity. This is an area of interest to me considering that I have always wanted to own my own business. One leading factor of why I wanted to own my own business is because I want to create an environment to which people want to go to work every day. Don’t just work, work were you
Success isn’t always so easy. Sometimes there are risks and factors that play along to allow for growth. However; personal development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for individuals to assess their skills and qualities, and consider their aims in life to set goals in order to maximise their potential. In order to receive the best outcome; there may need to be obstacles and challenges in the way to prevent an easy route to reach the top in success.
Personal coaching as defined by Biswas – Diener (2009) is a professional relationship in which coaches work with clients to facilitate experiential learning and improve functioning and performance, of in the context of working toward specific goals. Some core assumptions that people have an innate capacity to grow and develop a focus on mutually agreed upon goals, and an understanding that the relationship is relatively equal and collaborative as stated by the author (2009). Some techniques that are in seen during a coaching process include but are not limited to the following list as provided by the author: active listening, the use of powerful questions which are based on broad and open-ended to raise awareness of the client to take stock of their values and resources, cognitive tools are used to reframe negative interpretations, use different types of encouragement tools, and that clients are held accountable (2009). The topics that will be discussed in this paper include what skills do I current have, which skills need to be develop, my comfort level and effectiveness, coaching approaches (including methods and tools), any challenges about coaching and finally how coaching relates to my professional career.
This makes the individual attain their desires and aspirations. I suppose that Christian coaching refers to the art of working with individuals by moving them from where they are currently to the position that God intends them to be at. I guess many individuals are in need of a Christian coach because of desire to expand their vision of their future, encourage their spiritual journey, and to gain confidence while facing life. I support the author’s position that coaching has a great difference from counseling. By counseling, one must be going through certain difficult moment or challenges, which has a negative impact on the individual's psychology.
If you choose to focus your coaching on a specific area - lets say 'parenting troubled teens ', then its a good idea that you 've got a background of working with troubled teens so that you can best understand your client. Now a pure life coach is committed to recognizing that a client has their own answers and that the coaches job is to empower the client such that they see this clearly for themselves. Therefore, a coach is a generalist - their training and skill is really in communicating with people such that they can identify and build appropriate goals and actions that fulfill their dreams. If you naturally have this skill, you 've got the greatest asset that a life coach needs. Some people have an innate tendency to 'be coach '. If you don 't naturally have this skill, rest assured that wish practice you can develop
The client is leading the conversation by stating what their biggest concerns are currently in their life. They verbalize the concerns and issues that need changed in their lives. The counselor is there to be empathic to the client and establish a relationship with them. This part of the interview is where the client decides if the counselor is right for them, if not, then the client moves on to another
One aspect that wasn’t stressed enough in this theme was how often counselors should seek therapy. The more often a therapist seeks therapy, the more beneficial it can be to them. Talking more often wi...
“A coach is someone who is equipped to aid individuals or groups and organisations to maximise their performance in pursuit of their desired goals.” (Dexter et al, (2011) p.4)
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be
It is no secret that our country is seriously lacking when it comes to managing the mental health issues of its citizens. Not only are mental health services expensive and not covered by many types of insurance, but mental health care providers are not always easy to find. To this end I have developed a career goal that is not something I see coming with a specific job title or one that I can see reaching without the help of others. My career goal is to use my background in both information technology and psychology to benefit those in need and to expand mental health care services into communities that are currently lacking easy access to the services.
“People are remarkably bad at remembering long lists of goals. One may have learned this at a professional level when trying to get my high-performance coaching clients to stay on track; the longer their lists of to-dos and goals, the more overwhelmed and off-track they got. Clarity comes with simplicity.” As a child he always looked at being able to play or coach a sport at the professional level. For the reason of me just loving the game of Basketball. Also i know it will make an impact on lives because people look up to you and the money in make will give back to communities and change lives around you. The career of a Professional Coach is a challenging and fun career, because of the level of competition and it’s a dream job. The research will describe the career of
What should our goals be in life? Bill Strickland makes the point that no matter who you are you can do anything you put your mind too. In his book “Making the impossible possible” he explains his own struggle and how he made it through life to be able to help others. He explains his young childhood. He talks about how he had to live through riots and the racism. He talks about how he wanted to help people make their lives better. He explains his struggles with trying to maintain these buildings and how he made great connections. He tells about his love for pottery and his want to help others. His book was truly an inspiration and turned out to be more than I took his book for in the first few pages. His book made me think about my life and how I can relate to him.
It has been my lifelong dream to have a profound academic achievement. My personal goal is to become a Licensed Psychologist. Just recently I graduated from my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. This first step in my educational pursuit gave me the confidence that I can still fulfill my dream of becoming a psychologist. There are a few turns and road blocks in my educational trek; however, I never lose sight of my goal. I now, more than ever, intensified my passion for reaching my goal.
The author has initially likened the term coaching to a sports team. In this context, the coach attempts to inspire the team to win games. Sport coaches help players realize their potential and motivate them to perform through discipline and teaching them relevant skills, techniques, and tactics. This is usually achieved through mutual communication and the fostering of meaningful relationships with the team members.
Careers are not something to be taken in a light manner as it acts as a major function in every being’s life. Career dysfunctional may results in decreased self confidence, increased interpersonal communication problems or traces of depression. According to Beverly Baskin, the term career can be defined as the the totality of work one does in one’s lifetime. Given this definition, education, family responsibilities, work and leisure activities are inclusive.
Dreams, everyone has some sort of life ambition or goal that they would like to have in their life. As children we look at the whole world with eyes filled with wonder and ambition; yet, as we age pursuing one’s own goals often gets put on the back burner. Life happens, people get married, and have kids and the hope of landing that dream career gets increasingly distant. We tell ourselves that we will get to it, but often we fall short of our own expectations of ourselves. As humans, we have the capacity to do and create wondrous things. Knowing of this capacity gives us the desire to go out and get what we truly want; however, as we begin pushing towards our desires we run into conflict. Life has a special way of creating obstacles and barriers to one’s dreams. Although life is exhausting and it is difficult to accomplish the feats that one aims at; succeeding is a truly rewarding feeling.
