Good Morning Ms. Ngonda,
First, I want to thank Ms. Maria da Cruz and you for taking your time and consideration in speaking with me at Career Fair in Houston. I also appreciated the information that Ms. Maria da Cruz gave me regarding a possible job opportunity at USACC. During the conversation, Ms. Maria da Cruz spoke to me about opening an office in Houston. I told Ms. Maria that I am interested in being part of the team. She told me to send an email reminding her. I am writing to reaffirm my interest in being part of the U.S. – Angola Chamber of Commerce team.
I have recently graduated with Master degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Houston- Downtown. I am searching for any entry level Human Resource position at

Trucking is a way of transportation needed to keep business going. Trucking has been a part of my family for years so I fell in love with trucks now I won’t to drive my own. This career has a good background, career requirements, job positions, and a good reflection.

A career fair is an important event for all students aspiring to make connections with employers for future job goals. I attended the Impact career fair Spring 2018. This event gave me a chance to step outside my comfort zone and talk to professionals proactively. There were 13 companies at the career fair, and 3 of them were public, and the rest were private. Also, I came to the event prepared as it was my first networking event. I wore business attire and brought my resume and business cards with me. Finally, the essential things in career fair is a 30 second commercial or an elevator pitch. I prepared myself to sound like I thought about why I am there. In the 30-second commercial, I focused on my strengths and assets that I would like to use in my career. I practiced it many times until I can say it fluently. After reading the information about different employers, I picked few of them based on their involvement in various activities, their internships and their future plans. To be specific, my goal was to talk to at least five employers in Business and marketing industries. When first entering the
Going into the career fair I kept my expectations at a minimum due to my lack of experience with attending career fairs. Upon arriving at the career fair I was blown away by the massive turnout and large variety of companies. As I walked around the fair I was able to talk to three different employers. I spoke with representatives from KeySource Medical, Inc., GBQ, and LBrands. I was able to gain insight on what KeySource Medical and GBQ were since I had never heard of them before, and I was able to learn more about LBrands even though I was already familiar with the company. I would say that each of the conversations I had went very well and all of the representatives were understanding of me being a first year, but were eager to inform me
The day has come. The one day that you absolutely need to bring your A-game. The day that can determine your employment status for the upcoming summer or, even scarier, your life after college. It is time for the Career Fair. Even as a freshman, attending the Career Fair is a valuable learning experience, because you can practice talking to recruiters and, hopefully, get a job shadow or internship for the upcoming summer. This is how I thought the Career Fair was going to go, but I was proven wrong.
I began this class not having a clear idea on what career I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I often asked myself “What job will I have when I grow up?”. Ever since I was a little girl, I thought I wanted to become a doctor. After taking biology, genetics, and biochemistry, I quickly realized that being biology major was not for me. I then changed my major to exercise science. I searched for the possible career choices for exercise science and became interested in Physical therapy and physician Assistant. I was still confused on my career choice, so I decided to enroll into a career development class. I wanted to know what careers might better suit me.
The person of interest for me was Mrs. Louis who is the director of Somerset in Romania. Somerset if more of a charity but has its own income that gets returned to the workers. The workers have sewing classes that help them develop a skill that they can use to earn a honest living given that many of these workers are classified as gypsy’s in many communities. Somerset also provides other types of training that could help others enrich their skills and build a larger foundation for Somerset. They provided English, computer science, and mathematics courses that develop the core of the workers. Mrs. Louis works closely with Ms. Brown who is a board of directors for Somerset. Ms. Brown is the connection between the United States and Romania and directs Mrs. Louis in their need and future investments. To get into specifics Mrs. Louis is the Executive Director of this company and has many duties including many international duties relating to the image of the company and the annual reports that are publicly announced every year. According to Mrs. Louis the biggest challenges is dealing ...
I would like to get an Administrative position at a company where I can learn about the various responsibilities that are carried out in different areas i.e. HR, and accounting. I have worked in social services, manufacturing,
According to Herzberg, the principles of job enrichment are as follows: Removing some controls while retaining accountability; Increasing the accountability of individuals for own work, Giving a person a complete, natural unit of work; Granting additional authority to employees in their activity; Making periodic reports directly available to the workers themselves rather than to supervisors; Introducing new and more difficult tasks not previously handled; and Assigning individuals specific or specialized tasks. (Herzberg, 1968)
During the career fair, I was able to collect information on internships, cooperative education, and other paid work experiences. Being able to develop a professional network through the career fair and take the skills I learned and apply them is significant. The primary goal in dressing for a career fair to me is to convey an image that matches the requirements of the position and company. In the recruiting world, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Reflecting on what has gone well, what could be improved on, and well, everything really. It felt as if I was being introduced to my first step regarding adulthood. To start to deal with myself in a new manner, but instead one that’s meant to create a professional persona because of my
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
As a freshman going into the Career Fair, I was a little intimidated. I was told to prepare an elevator speech, find a suite to wear, and don’t do anything that will pin you as “that freshman”. To help with this preparation, I attended the Career Fair Prep Class for freshmen and sophomores hosted by Megan Dino. Her class helped me create my thirty second elevator speech and gave me the opportunity to practice it with other students. I also learned what kind of questions to ask the recruiters. I was told to ask questions like, “who is the customer base in?” or “will this role interface with customers or mostly employees in my department?” rather than just asking open ended questions that make the recruiter feel swamped. After the prep class, I went on I-link to research some of the companies offering job shadows. I decided I wanted
This internship has provided an ability to match the experiences and knowledge in a more practical way compared to other business students. No amount of gratitude can truly exemplify the overall satisfaction obtained throughout the duration of this internship. Much appreciation goes to all the HR professionals working at UTEP; they provided an enriching learning environment and set of skills that are needed in order to be successful in a HR profession
