Networking/Career fair Reflection Paper A career fair is an important event for all students aspiring to make connections with employers for future job goals. I attended the Impact career fair Spring 2018. This event gave me a chance to step outside my comfort zone and talk to professionals proactively. There were 13 companies at the career fair, and 3 of them were public, and the rest were private. Also, I came to the event prepared as it was my first networking event. I wore business attire and brought my resume and business cards with me. Finally, the essential things in career fair is a 30 second commercial or an elevator pitch. I prepared myself to sound like I thought about why I am there. In the 30-second commercial, I focused on my strengths and assets that I would like to use in my career. I practiced it many times until I can say it fluently. After reading the information about different employers, I picked few of them based on their involvement in various activities, their internships and their future plans. To be specific, my goal was to talk to at least five employers in Business and marketing industries. When first entering the …show more content…
He also told me about his experience when he first started as an intern in the summer of 2014 at the company, and he felt like the people working were all a family. He recorded my information as I gave him my Business card and resume as well. I spent so much time expecting conversations with other tables and ended up being too nervous by the time that I got to him, but I did not expect to talk to this person. That single the conversation was a great experience that made me so glad that I attended the career

Though I had some strong points in my informative speech, I still feel there was a lot I could improve upon. I could not recognize any vocalized pauses but I noticed that at certain points of speech where I would transition from one point to another, I would push my glasses up. I don’t remember if this was because my glasses were actually slipping down or because I was nervous. Also, after watching my video, I found that in the beginning of the speech I was swaying a lot, but because I was standing behind the table it wasn’t that noticeable. The one major thing I would change is my choice to stand behind the table. It was something I did unconsciously and out of habit of usually speaking behind a podium, and I did not notice I did it until

In today’s world students and adults who can use the power of public speaking are a rare find. The top idea, was communication skills” (Lucas, 2012 pg. 5). This statement showes us that college students who have taking public speaking truly have an advantage over those who have
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of having a job where I can help people. After doing research throughout my twelve years of school I stubbled across the occupation of a registered nurse and I realized that is the ideal career for me. While researching registered nurses, I determined that anyone can try and become a registered nurse, but it requires a tremendous amount of hard work. This future job will require me to have a great education, extraordinary communication, listening, and personal management skills. As a registered nurse the pay is more than ideal, and it would provide me with the lifestyle I would want to live. This occupation would also give me the chance to work anywhere I want, such as close to home or somewhere in a different state.
I began preparing for the Career Fair three days in advance. I had already created my elevator pitch before then but I really started to research the companies that were going to be there three days in advance. This is because I thought that three days would be enough time for me to absorb enough information about each
The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline. Working as an intern taught me the responsibility of time management and working within a lean schedule that allow me to further develop my skill set. This reflection paper will illustrate my classroom experience, internship experience, and learning experience.
It was nerve-racking sitting in my driveway talking to someone who could make or break my summer with one phone call. That is me being overdramatic, I just didn't want her to say no because I really wanted to work there. She seemed interested to hear from me so we set a date to meet. For the next three weeks, I was watching youtube videos and reading articles about how to prepare for a professional

As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.
The anchor is those elements of the self-image that people would not give up if they are forced to make a choice
MY RESPONSE: A job analysis should include in every human resource function, because it supports the business strategy, analyzes employees’ performance, and broadcasts the future developments. This practice helps to identify the needs for specific skills, and it's a useful tool for hiring, promotion, and training. For instance, when performing an assessment, you are looking not only for a job performance, you can identify a specific behavior or areas of possible improvements. The job assessment helps to identify additional needs for enhancement or correction. There is a correlation between managers and employees, and collected data will help to determine the internal environment and how good the relationship is. For example, during training,
