Cancer is a killer. A very expensive killer. This year 12.7 million people will be told they have cancer. Their treatment will cost $20,000 per person although depending on the severity it can rack up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. $254 billion will be spent on their care. 1,500 of them will die today. What is being done to try and save them? (“ Helping Families Face the Challenges of Cancer”) In 2013 4.8 billion dollars was spent on cancer research yet there still haven't been any major developments. (“How Much Money Is Raised and Spent in Fighting Cancer?”) But much to my surprise cures have been sitting under our noses for years now but are being swept under the rug by the FDA,The Food and Drug Administration, all because of one little …show more content…
Well now here’s the upsetting part: They are the ones causing us to have cancer in the first place. They control the Meat and Dairy Industry. Which big shocker…causes cancer. Obviously the things you eat impacts how healthy you are but you'd be surprised how much this is actually true. The hormones used on animals make them gain weight faster needing less food saving the industry money. The faster they grow the faster they can make a profit. The hormones are used to increase milk production as well as making the calves grow double their size in three months. That’s the same milk we drink. No-one wants to double in size in three months. “Thus, hormones can increase the profitability of the meat and dairy industries.”(“Consumer Concerns About Hormones in Food”) Even with out the awful hormones animal protein has been proven to cause cancer.(“Forks Over Knives”) There was a study done in China (“The China Study”) The people that didn't eat meat and stuck to a organic lifestyle shows no signs of cancer cells forming, while those who ate meat had the pre cancer cells all ready beginning to form. So cancer is caused by this consumer culture of eating every meal that contains something that was created in a lab that makes our pH more acidic, which we know is the perfect environment for cancerous cells. Same goes for fruits and vegetables. If it isn’t organic its sprayed with toxins meant to kill weeds, rodents and birds. Does …show more content…
With out it our economy might just plummet. But each of us know someone who has been touched by cancer. And you probably know of someone who lost a loved one to cancer. Politics are killing us. The FDA’s job should be to “continue to…apply” what these doctors have been saying for years. As well as “make relevant information reliable to patients, colleagues and the public” (AMA Ethics V) which in the UK is actually illegal according to the 1939 Cancer Act which prohibits any cancer developments toward a cure to be shown to the public. Yeah I know right.
A growing issue in the world today is the use of antibiotics and growth hormones in animal production industry. However, for over sixty years Americans have been exposed to hormones on a regular basic when they consume beef. (Organic Consumer Association) On average eighty percent of all feedlot cattle are given hormones to help them grow at an increased rate. (Communication Foundation) “In 1988 the European Union banned the use of all hormone growth promoters.” (Organic Consumer Association)

America is one of the world’s largest producers of beef. According to Raloff (2002), approximately 36 million beef cattle are raised in America each year, and approximately two-thirds are treated with hormones (para.2). Farmers use these hormones to increase the rate of growth in their cattle. By increasing the cattle’s growth rate, the farmers can produce more beef and still making more money, they can sell it at an inexpensive rate to the consumers. The hormones that may be administered to beef and dairy cattle may already be produced, in small amounts, naturally in their own bodies or synthetic. According to the U.S. Department of Food and Drug Administration (2002), “the accepted naturally occurring hormones that may be administered to beef and milk producing cattle are estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, and the synthetic hormones that are accepted are zeranol, trenbolone acetate, and melengestrol acetate.” None of the hormones listed above are acceptable in the industries in Europe to give for the food and milk productions.
FDA, so many people were harmed. Even other countries versions of the FDA approved it which
We eat a variety of food everyday fruits, veggies, meat and a lot more, but could the stuff we everyday give us cancer ? That answer is yes,
The American Cancer Society’s main concern is assisting people, making profits come second. The American Cancer Society helps patient’s life by finding cures. “For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer. Together with millions of our supporters worldwide, we help people stay well and get well, find cures, and fight back against cancer” (American Cancer Society, 2015a). Many people in this world see the importance of the organization and find the interest in donating money or providing anything to help the cause.
Cancer is a very large issue in the world. Cancer is a sickness that can lead to many life threatening problems and can eventually lead to death. There are many different kinds of cancer that can effect a person without them even knowing it is there. One type of cancer that can be easier to detect would be skin cancer. Skin cancer can be diagnosed by seeing a doctor or dermatologist, if they see an abnormal mole or spot on your skin, they many ask to remove the spot and test it in their laboratory. If the spot or mole comes back positive for skin cancer, they next will run more tests to see if it has spread throughout the body. The first thing the doctor will ask you is the time frame from when you first started noticing this on your body,
There are more than a million people suffer from cancer in the United States every day. Lung cancer is not the only type of cancer but it affects many people and families every day. Lung cancer makes the lives of its patients and the families. Lung cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer and also one of the most common. Hundreds of thousands of people get diagnosed with lung cancer every year in just the United States. Also close to just as many people die from lung cancer in the US every year. I am going to talk about lung cancer and what it is, how to lower your risk of getting it, statistics of it, and the research and treatment of it.
It is predicted that 564,800 Americans will die of cancer this year. Roughly 418,500 Americans died in World War 2 that is more than 100,000 less than what cancer will do this year alone. What are we doing to stop cancer? In my opinion we are not doing enough, even though we have many scientists working to find the cure it will never be enough until we find the cure for cancer. We are at war with cancer we need to do more, but to do more we need more money. Brain cancer is a major problem because it kills a large part of our population, there is no cure for it, and there is very little chance of surviving brain cancer.
It is strongly believed that a cure for cancer will be found. Thousands of charities and organizations are raising money to help find a cure. Many charitable events take place such as Relay for Life. In the future we hope and pray that our descendants will not have to worry about this awful disease. Just like Bill Clinton stated “It is now conceivable that our children’s children will know the term cancer only as a constellation of stars.”
Government funding has proven to be essential and effective in the fight against cancer. On December 23, 1971 President Nixon signed the National Cancer Act, which promised to finance the quest for the cure. Financial aid such as this has directly benefitted survival rates for those diagnosed with cancer. Forty years ago before such funding was provided, when a child was diagnosed with cancer most physicians considered the patient to be terminally ill and supportive care was almost the only thing offered to the family. However over the last few decades, due to research and participation in clinical trials performed due to funding, the majority of children are cured. Because of the creations of new drugs and therapies as a result of government aid, the survival rat...
It had no business taking away thousands of innocent children from their families and completely destroying peoples’ lives. It is completely underfunded compared to other types of cancer research. To put that into proportion, according to www.icareicure.org, “In dollar terms, NCI’s funding for pediatric [childhood] clinical trials is $26.4 million while funding for AIDS research is $254 million, and breast cancer is $584 million,” It is true that our kids are worth more than 4%, but we can’t just sit here and do nothing. Let’s put a stop to this disease and find a cure for childhood
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. Tumors are then created and interfering with the digestive, nervous and circulatory systems. It is one of the most leading causes of death, reaching at about 8.2 million deaths in 2012. It is expected that cancer will rise from 14 million to 22 million within the next 2 decades. With over 100 cancer research centers in the United States studying how to treat this disease, people need to understand the importance of donating also with the awareness of signs and symptoms in the early stages. But, what are we doing about it? Do we have the technology to finally be able to put this deadly disease to an end?
This is why my primary care provider keeps trying to push pills on me. Furthermore, Big Pharma buries research that doesn’t suit their pharmaceutical mongering. I wonder if there some cures for certain types of cancers? Their power seems to have no bounds. Additionally, the writing of the DSM was affected by Big
...n tell us that we can support one another for cancers. There are numerous good things that can come out of media, but we must know the difference between what is good and what is not.
