If the cancer is at the earliest stage it can be treatable. ACS also provides and informs patients to stay healthy by staying away from tobacco, eat healthy and get advice, how to be safe while outdoors in the sun, there are also other ways to protect them. In addition, there are tools and calculators to help make healthy eating habits easier. Lastly, there are cancer screening guidelines, which help increase detecting cancers early.
Patients, survivors or caregivers can call or go on the ACS website to get information. Patients can also find support and treatment topics. For example, patients can receive help in understanding their diagnosis, find and pay for treatments. Lastly, there are tools that help cope with cancer treatments. Some examples of treatment tools are finding a treatment center, clinical trials, services and a guide to prescribed

...ate cancer are the quality of life, medical care, and nutrition. I have learned that scientists are coming up with broader and unique treatments of this cancer. One other factor that I encountered while researching was that African American men were more likely to develop this cancer due to the lack of resources to help themselves.
... a healthy lifestyle, which can also be used to treat the physical effects of cancer. Methods to lessen the psychological effects of cancer include “psychotherapy, support group therapy and antidepressant medication” (Cancer Complications, n.d.). Because cancer is such a painful illness that has many negative implications on the patient and those who are involved, many who have cancer tend to feel depressed and alone. With the support of fellow cancer patients and survivors, the pain of such a situation can be lessened.
Cancer is a deadly disease that millions of people die from a year. Many loved ones are killed with little to no warning affecting families across our world. My family happened to be one that was affected by this atrocious disease. This event changed the way my family members and I viewed cancer.
The American Cancer Society is a volunteer-based organization that is present across the United States. Its main purpose is to raise money and awareness about the severity and prevalence of cancer. Cancer education and research is where most of the focus and monetary donations are used for. It was a tremendous honor to learn that the Breast Cancer Coalition has been nominated for The Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation’s annual ETHIE Award in the small business category. We have a great deal of respect and admiration for our nominator, Mr. Kevin Flynn, who we look to as a business leader who leads by example. It was enormously gratifying to learn that he recognizes the Coalition as an organization that makes sound ethical practice a priority in everything we do.
The goal of this charity is to raise money for pediatric cancer research with the help of kids and adults. They raise money by hosting different fundraising events. What Can Help? Cancer, a serious disease that takes over 7.5 million lives a year.
Most people have been effected by cancer in one way or another. Because there is currently no cure for cancer, one of the most discussed ways to fight against this disease is prevention. This publication, presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC), is asking communities to support one another in prevention measures and provides tools to assist in this matter. The CDC aids comprehensive cancer control (CCC) programs in “all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 7 tribal areas, and 7 U.S. Affiliated Pacific Island territories or jurisdictions” (“The Road to Better Health”, 2012).
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminate cancer. The goals of ACS is to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish the suffering from the disease through research, education, advocacy, and service. Today, being diagnosed with cancer presents devastating news to the victim, their family, and friends. A lot of unanswered questions come to the person’s mind, the pain, suffering and death. Questions of what the person had done throughout their lives that could have possibly led to their present diagnosis.
In the case a family friend or colleague has just been diagnosed with Cancer. How the American Cancer Society might provide education and support and what ACS services I would recommend. To be diagnosed with cancer can be a very distressing, devastating, demoralizing and depressing issue. Being diagnosed with any kind of cancer will not only affect the individual person mentally and morally, it will also affect family members and the first thing that will come into the mind of any lay person is that they probably will die very soon. The first approach the I think the American Cancer Society will do is become supportive by evaluating the person and the family and then ACS will provide information, education and also will identify other cancer
Each year more than 8 billion people are diagnosed with cancer all around the world. Everyone knows that cancer is a disease but what exactly is it? Cancer is not just one disease, there are actually more than 100 different types of cancer. Cells from any part of the body can become cancer and spread. Some types of cancers are more common than others. In order to understand what cancer is, it’s important to know how healthy cells function. Healthy human cells grow and divide in order to produce more cells when the body needs them. When the cells becomes damaged, it dies and gets replaced with a new cell; this process is called apoptosis. Unlike healthy cells, cancer causes the cells to grow out of control. The damaged cells survive and the
Therefore, people obviously are affected with breast cancer or some other form of cancer in some way. Regardless if they are the victim or the love one helping the victim endure the disease. Although cancer is a tough thing to beat, biological research helps. Scientist can experiment with cancer cells and see how they react to certain treatment. Such as radiation treatments and even miR-22. I found that MiR-22 is a tumor suppressor. A tumor suppressor basically slows down cell division. If a patient receives this they are basically slowing down the growth of any cancerous cell. These medical advances and scientific research help benefit American citizens. Without these studies American people would probably be more prone to dying. This is a major benefit to all
Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. Cancer is very deadly and is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. There are more than one hundred types of cancer, and this year about 564,800 Americans are expected to die of cancer. Even though, so many people die from Cancer, there are many survivors. About 4 in 10 people survive cancer (40%) (“Cancer Facts”) . Most of these people could have prevented Cancer by knowing the main causes. Diet, physical activity, tobacco/smoking, alcohol, chemicals/radiation, and genetics are the main causes of cancer.
