Founded in 2003 in San Carlos, California Tesla was created by a group of engineers. The original mission of Tesla was to prove that electric cars are superior to gas powered cars. The engineers were dedicated to making each new generation of vehicles designed with zero emissions and have immense power. Tesla strives to transition the world towards sustainable modes of transportation. The company was inspired by the inventor, Nikola Tesla, who patented an AC induction motor in 1888 that the engineers based the Tesla Roadster on in 2008 (About Tesla). In 2012, created the Model S, the first four-door electric sedan.

All cars are equipped with all-wheel drive, high efficiency motors, and high speed charging (About Tesla). Teslas have the ability to be charged at home, therefore owners never have to worry about fueling at gas stations. There are also numerous free charging stations along popular routes. The innovative manufacturing of Tesla provides them an edge over the competition. With pressure to stay ahead in the industry and high production goals, Tesla will need to identify its areas of focus for the future.

Introduction

This paper will examine the major corporation, Tesla. Primarily, the introduction will provide detail on Tesla’s mission and goals, products, and financial performance. Following the background of Tesla, discussion of the external environment through situational analysis, such as changes or trends and competitive forces, will occur before reporting Tesla’s consumer buying behavior. This section will cover the buying process, objective and subjective criteria, and the cost and benefits weighed in the decision-making process.
