Ever wonder what causes bullying? Where it comes from and the damage it does to children? Well in this day and age bullying is a big problem to kids from elementary to high school. Many people might not know that even though bullying happens to some kids early on, they carry it on throughout their entire lives. This is why it is important to stop any act of bullying before it goes too far. One of the main reasons for bullying is when the bully feels the need to be on top and picking on kids weaker than him/her is a way to get that feeling. Any children with disorders or disabilities are easy targets for bullies. Another reason for bullying is when the bully feels like he/she is better than everybody else. This is usually seen in groups of girls. Groups of girls are out to bully other girls. Popularity is a big thing girls use to bully other girls. When it comes to boys bulling other boys it normally has to do with whether or not they are athletic. PSA’s are everywhere to prevent bullying and to stop any bullies out there. Do these advertisements really work? Will people step in if they see any bullying? Researchers say that teachers should be one of the first ones to stop any act of bullying but they barely do. 1 out of every 25 acts of bullying are stopped by teachers. This is still not good enough to end the bullying. Any act of bullying lasts around 37 seconds, but 37 seconds everyday for months or years will start piling up until the bullying victim can’t take it anymore. Another important person that can stop bullying is a friend or a parent. Social networks are used by many teens nowadays. From these social networks comes cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is seen more often because the bully can be under a fake name or a... ... middle of paper ... .... The boy that had bullied him since 5th grade and briefly befriended Ryan after the brawl was the main culprit. My son the comedian told his new friend something embarrassing and funny that happened once and the friend (bully) ran with the new information that Ryan had something done to him and therefore Ryan must be gay. The rumor and taunting continued beyond that school day … well into the night and during the summer of 2003.” Ryan’s father, John, devotes his time to help parents and kids dealing with bullies. A great way of dealing with bullies is to reach out and talk to somebody. It can be an adult, a teacher, a friend, a sibling or your parents. Letting somebody know what is going on is the first part to defeating these bullies. Around the country there are many teen groups that deal with bullying and they talk about their problems and help each other out.
The definition of bullying uses broad statements to define the actual meaning. Because of this, people may view the definition differently than others. Bullying can range from physical violence to verbal abuse to even cyberbullying. Most people do not realize how common cyberbullying actually is. Over half of teens and adolescents have been bullied online and almost the same number have engaged in the bullying (“Cyber Bullying Statistics”). Cyberbullying is becoming more and more prominent throughout this time period because of the technology continuing to expand around the world. Each year this statistic increasingly grows due to the technology

Becoming someone’s personal punching bag and constantly being called inappropriate names is not something that is ideal, especially in high school. To end bullying, everyone needs to come together as a community, to get their word out and make the bullies realize what they are doing. Bullying is a horrible trait to have. There are many reasons why kids bully other children. In my opinion, there is never a good reason to bully. I believe if we come together as a nation, and educate our younger generation on how to avoid becoming a bully, and then the issue will slowly resolve on its

Child, parent, teacher, friend – regardless of what title you might have, bullying is a issue that everyone should be conscious of. Whether it is physical bullying or cyber bullying, this not only affects the adolescent when the bullying is occurring, but effects can also be shown when the child matures. Bullying can and must be stopped. It happens more often than you’d think, because if it doesn’t happen directly to you or in front of you, you won’t know it’s there. Bullies shouldn’t be allowed to torment people, and people who stand up to their bullies and report the bullying can get away from being bullied. Report bullying. Call for help, run to get an adult, report the problem, but don’t let bullying happen unobstructed. “End bullying before it ends a life”
What is important to understand about bullying in schools, is that it affects people of all walks of life regardless of their background. There many individuals who experience bullying, but are unable to give their account on just how difficult these experiences may be. Some of their accounts are pretty disturbing and will make you wonder what makes an individual or group of people harass and bullying someone else. Is there really anything someone can say to justify these actions? no there isn 't. What can be said is that bullying has become a social problem that public-figures now are resorting to using their social status and influence to bring attention to this controversial topic. Many of these public-figures tell tales of previous experiences
Bullying has been an epidemic for almost as long as their has been socialization. Where there is public interaction, bullying almost always follows. Bullying is especially bad in elementary, middle, and high school. Unfortunately, these are the years where bullying peaks. It is easy to shrug at a bully and immediately look at their actions as unnecessary and uncalled for, like Maleficent, the villain in the fairytale Sleeping Beauty. But as we find out, bullies are not hateful out of nowhere. As is learned with Maleficent, due to a betrayal in her youth, she is now acting out to reconcile her hurt feelings. This is also the case with many children who bully others, they are just looking to reconcile hurt or confused feelings about their life
In recent times bullying has become a national issue, notwithstanding the fact that it has been in existence for many years. Traditionally, bullying has been seen as horseplay, but with the increase of harassment in schools and suicides; parents and schools are now forced to take action to prevent bullying in schools. In the hallways between classes, on the playground, on the school bus, bullying can happen anywhere. Bullying can be a terrible, life-changing experience for children and adolescents. If you are being bullied, there are some actions you can take to defend yourself.
Have you ever been bullied, or felt the substantial effects bullying has on its victims? Bullying is not only a problem for children and teenagers, but it affects people of all ages. Bullying is a major social dilemma in society today. Many people believe that bullying is simply part of growing up, and that it is a phase that some individuals go through. I personally believe that there should be zero tolerance for bullying. Despite all of the anti-bullying research, programs, and campaigns, bullying still exists and is not being addressed to the extent necessary to stop and prevent it.
“Researchers have conducted that at least 25% of all children will be affected by bullying at some point during their school years, and many of these children miss significant numbers of school days each year owing to fear of being bullied” (Bray, M., Kehle, T., Sassu, K. (2003). Bullying has become a major problem for our students and our schools. Children are missing educational time and are losing self-confidence because they are afraid or intimidated by other students. We, as teachers, need to reduce bullying in our schools and prevent bullying from being a reoccurring issue in the lives of our students in order for them to learn, grow and develop. Our goal as teachers should be “to reduce as much as possible-ideally to eliminate completely- existing bully/victim problems in and out of the school setting and to prevent the development of new problems” (Olweus, D. (1993).
Ersilia Menesini, most bullying starts in the home. Children who experience bullying at home, either from parents or older siblings, would be more likely to take out their frustration on weaker students at school. If the parents display bullying traits when dealing with people, then this could be a behavior their kids could pick up. Peer pressure is also a big factor in bullying. Kids have such a need to fit in that students that normally would not engage in such behavior, might if they thought it would impress peers or make them cool. Even some children who might possibly be a target for bullying, might act out in an attempt to win approval and keep out of the limelight
Bullying has become a serious problem in public schools systems. Being a victim of bullying is a daily struggle for some students. The issue continues to grow, but the question is how to stop bullying from occurring. Many ways have been attempted to stop bullying, but some are more effective than others. Having the students get involved seems to have the most positive effect on the bullying issue in public school systems.
