One of the themes of the novel Bud, Not Buddy By Christopher Paul Curtis is family protects and understands you, giving you a place to belong. I believe that this is a theme of the story because even though Bud doesn’t have a mom or dad, the band is like a family to Bud and they protect Bud and understand him and they also let Bud stay at their house. First, Mrs. Sleet lets Bud at her house and gives him the essentials that he needs. “‘Now, while you wash up, I’m going to get some clothes that my boy outgrew a while ago, barely been used’”(Curtis 120). Even though Mrs. Sleet isn’t Bud’s family, she protects him and lets him stay at her house for a few days. Next, Mrs. Thomas feels sorry for Bud

He was a man venerated, disgraced and redeemed in a political career. He was charismatic, irrepressible and engaging even in corruption couldn’t keep him out of politics. Marion Barry was a role model and in inspiration for many people. He was also known for being the most influential and savvy local politician of his generation. He was also the president of the city’s old Board of Education. As major Barry became a national symbol of self-governance for urban blacks. He had placed African Americans in thousands of middle and upper-level management positions in the city government that in previous generations had been reserved for whites.
How would you feel if you had to pay extra for whiskey that you made at home? The whiskey excise act, sometimes known, as the “Whiskey Act” became law in Mach 1791, putting a tax on distilled beverages. There were many other ideas to raise funds for the federal government but he had the support of many social reformers, who hoped a “sin tax” would raise awareness in the public eye on the harmful effects of alcohol. When congress enacted this law, Washington could then define the revenue districts, appointed the revenue supervisors and inspectors, and set their pay. The government needed the funds to pay off the debt of the American Revolution. The Whiskey Rebellion was a response to the government-imposed tax that was paid in “cold, hard” cash
It’s not that I judge their focus on the radio, because I know this movie is not an actual one, but even so, I do not think radio is that important for music. Nowadays, radio isn’t used for listening to music, as we can download it easily form anywhere, so I don’t think that what the video says about it applies now, or at least, not in our country.

Bruno Mars is an entertainment sensation that commands hundreds of dollars per ticket and in 2017 he began his 85 day World Tour 24K Magic (Kreps, 2017). This on top of the world star admits to feeling a little out of place with 21st century technology. Bruno’s talent, energy, and drive to make albums in a marketplace where songs aren’t even bought anymore but are offered by subscriptions on many different platforms, still make him one of the most popular and best pop artists in the world. Regardless of his savvy or lack of it for technology, he credits many great artists that paved the way as inspiration (CapitalFM, 2017).

Driving up Route 9 towards Poughkeepsie in a snow storm was not something I wanted to do. The time itself—an hour’s drive—was elongated by the pretty, but dangerous, falling snow. As my Beetle and I plowed up through Fishkill and made our way to the town of Poughkeepsie, I started getting nervous. I would be interviewing a real live DJ! Since I was a child I had always loved music and the radio. I remember leaping up onto my kitchen counter and perching there, anxiously listening to who would be crowned Number One that week on the Top 40. Or I would be in my cool, newly-furnished bedroom listening to the most-requested five-song countdown on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8pm.
Many music artists strive to sell out a venue. No matter the size, the feeling of a room full of people singing along and dancing to your music is a sensation. Unfortunately, many artists don’t ever get to sell out any venue bigger than their local one. The Staple Center has a long list of iconic performers and even more iconic moments. Built in 1999, every year it has an average of 250 events with over 4 million audience members. With so many different events, the marketing and promotion team never fails to have an audience show up. In the last nine years, Taylor Swift has sold out the Staples Center sixteen times and is currently the only artist to do that accomplishment. The Staples Center even awarded her with a banner that now hangs in the middle of the center.
If someone were to ask people ever wanted to see almost every artist from any genre of music in one place? Of course, anyone would say yes, because most people haven't been to an event like the huge one that happens in California each year. This is an event many people save up all year to attend just maybe once in their life time. The Coachella Music and Arts Festival, it is one of the most talked about festivals that this generation knows about. It is like a whole new world for most people each time they attend.
