How do you see chocolate milk? As something that will make you gain 50 pounds, or a drink that gives you the same nutrients as white milk? You could gain 50 pounds... but really. That would take a lot of chocolate milk. Chocolate milk has its positives and negatives, but I think that there are more positives than negatives. I think that chocolate milk should be brought back to the school cafeteria. Some types of chocolate milk don't have that much sugar, many students would like to have it back, and, it has the same rich nutrients as white milk.
The first reason we should bring back chocolate milk is that many students want it back. In a recent survey taken by me and Bryan, 76.9 % of Ms. Folendorf and Mrs. Melville’s homeroom classes voted that chocolate milk should be brought back to school. I think that our grade’s opinion reflects the opinion of most students in school. But in order confirm this, we will need to get the whole school's’ opinion. Someone will need to send the teachers a survey and ask them to share it with their class.

Some parents mistakenly think that all chocolate milk has a lot of sugar in it. Some brands do not have that much sugar in it. For example, a cup of premade Nesquik chocolate milk has 24 grams of sugar in it, compared to a cup of premade TruMoo chocolate milk which has 18 grams of sugar. According to a Google search, a cup of 1% White milk has about 14 grams of sugar (lactose) in it. That means that there are only about 4 grams of added sugar in TruMoo® chocolate milk. Chocolate milk and a cafeteria don't go together like frosting on a cupcake, so don’t put them together. Schools should not serve chocolate milk to students. It’s easy to think that chocolate milk is just as healthy as white milk, but when you look at the facts, it is very clear that we should not serve chocolate milk in schools. It has been found that our bodies don’t need chocolate milk, there is too much sugar, and chocolate milk can cause illnesses and diseases. Chocolate milk should not be served in schools now or ever again.

I do believe that the audience will be a mix of some who agree with me, some who disagree with me, some and who don’t know enough about it to decide without further reading and research. There are people who think that milk is the foundation of nutrition (and I don’t), and there are people who think that going about life eating processed foods isn’t harmful to their health because they don’t know any better and “everyone does it”.

School lunches use to be yummy, the favorite part of a child’s day, but now students moan and groan about going to lunch. Michelle Obama changed the guide lines for school lunches since her husband has been in office. She says that starting children out eating nutritious foods could longer there life, 1/3 kids in today’s society are obese or overweight. After Mrs. Obama changed the school lunches from good to healthy the percent in waste went up in schools. Since children aren’t eating, they aren’t getting the nutrients at all. Which is better? Having children eat food that is a little unhealthy or having children not eat at all and waste tons of food. Children around the United States aren’t eating lunch, they changed the standards, became stricter on snacks and now the food doesn’t taste as yummy.

Products which contain added sugars such as sweetened beverages, cereal, biscuits are the primary contributors to added sugar. Yes, there are people who may not even look at the packaging but it is inconceivable of knowing how much sugar has been added just by observing the label.

If you look at the back of a Trumoo carton, that is given with hot lunch at Argonaut, you will see that the carton contains 18 grams of sugar! Even though I like chocolate milk, I believe that it should not be served every day, especially in school.
