The purpose of this essay to Use Bourdieu's model of multiple capitals to explain the inequitable position of a social group and design a strategy for the group to maximize their mix and volume of capital. For this I will use the Amish community. These people trace their heritage back hundreds of years, and yet, despite all the time that has passed and the many changes that have taken place in society, they still live and work much as their forefathers did. Their families and their farms are their top priorities, second only to God. The Amish people are very devout in their faith. They believe in the literal interpretation and application of Scripture as the Word of God. They take seriously the Biblical commands to separate themselves from the things of the world. They believe worldliness can keep them from being close to God and can introduce influences that could be destructive to their communities and to their way of life. …show more content…

This is significant and very important to note because even the Amish do not complain about this inequality such as not having the right to vote in local elections due to their beliefs and the way they turn away from the world that surrounds them. This is the outcome of their way of life and they choose this because every member of their society is given a choice they can leave at any time but risk never being allowed to return. There inequality also lies socially with there lack of training and education in Amish society children go to school up until the 8th grade and then sent to the fields, shops or they home to work and contribute to their
