School May Seem Boring but It’s Useful Many students don’t like school because they think it’s boring. Why do they think it is boring? Simple causes lead to many effects. However just by thinking school is boring could lead to many future problems. No student likes getting up early. When school starts early, that requires students to wake up earlier than they would prefer. Therefore they become tired all day, lots of people get grouchy when they’re tired. Once a student becomes grouchy they don't want to do anything. Then after not doing anything they get bored. However once a student gets bored there could be many negative outcomes. Negative outcomes can exceed farther than just failing a class. A student might think school is boring, so then they tend to mentally slack, students have made a slang term for slacking known as “senioritis.” Once a student mentally slacks their grades start to reflect it, leading to a lower GPA. Low GPAs can make it difficult to make it into college. College educations make a huge difference versus someone who does not have a college education. Companies will prefer an education hands down every time. With lots of companies turning someone down, they will just be a floater, floating from job to job. …show more content…
Then it’s just like school getting boring. They start slacking, then most likely lose their job. If they have a house, apartment, condo, or any form of housing where they have a monthly bill they lose their way of providing substantial housing for themselves. If they lose their house, they become homeless. Many homeless struggle to find food. Then they start getting sick, and then they have to try to find medication, or whatever they need to get better. So just by a student thinking school is boring could lead to many problems in life. Such as committing criminal acts to be able to provide for
Boredom was everywhere in my world, and if you asked the kids, as often as I did, why they felt so bored, they always gave me the same answers: They said the work was stupid, that it made no sense, that they already knew it. They said they wanted to be doing something real, not just sitting around. They said teachers didn’t seem to know much about their subjects and clearly weren’t interested in learning more. And the kids were right: their teachers were every bit as bored as they were
“For the next six hours, I was going to enjoy a thoroughly secure, warm, and stable environment.” As stated by Barry. She found comfort drawing, which she often did early at school before class would start. Some children aren’t as lucky as Barry was, some go to school just because it is required. The requirement of subjects being taught in school, just aren’t sparking that flame in a child’s mind. If they had something to look forward to after class ends, such as an after school program, perhaps the excitement would build up and the concentration on studies will begin to exist again.
Waking up early at 6:00 A.M in the morning isn’t the funniest thing to do. The times on when school starts should be changed to a later time. Schools should change start times to later there is even factual evidence that this is true. In the article ‘The Teen Who Woke Up Her School’ by Jane Bianchi wrote about a teen named Jilly Dos Santos who put hard work into petitions and powerpoints to show how more sleep can better not only her but other people on school work and sports. People need more sleep to function and get through the day and to be more alert about things around them.Evidence from scientist and from teens show that people work better when they have more energy and got a good night's rest and when students don’t they sometimes start
This leaves students with less than the recommended 9 hours of sleep. Students that have to stay up that late for homework will be tired in the morning, even if their school starts later. Many people argue that starting schools later will let students get more sleep and align with the students sleep cycles. But they do not factor in that students will just stay up later at night because they know that they do not have to get up as early in the morning. This will just leave students with less sleep than before.
Early school start times affect the mental and physical health of students. If schools start later, students would be more ready to learn. With the early start times, students are not getting enough sleep and that is affecting their performance in earlier classes. They come to these classes like zombies and do not really take in what they are hearing.
Kids are missing out on fun activities because they are busy doing homework. Sometimes students stay up way too late because they are doing homework. Then the student doesn’t get a lot of sleep which can lead them to being late the next morning for school. Also while a student is doing homework everyone else is out playing fun games. The kid then might get jelous which can lead the student to depression. The student can’t do stuff like play football with friends or watch a movie with a family member. Students don’t get to explore the world around them because of homework. Kids should be out playing sports or playing
We see students learning in movies as well as television shows. We also learn ourselves by experiences. The movie Dangerous Minds is movie about the educational system and an ex-Marine. In the movie LouAnne, “finds herself confronted with a classroom of tough, sullen teenagers, all from lower-class and underprivileged backgrounds, involved in gang warfare and drug pushing, flatly refusing to engage with anything”(Smith). These students are under privileged in many was that do not involve school, but they are not in the best environment to learn. The teacher finds a way to connect to the kids to be able to keep her students engaged in the curriculum that is standard for all students. Not all teachers or educational employees are able to keep their students engaged on the top at hand without technology and other resources at hand. The lack of money because of budget cuts in school districts across the country students are learning less and not getting the supplies and the course they desire. This then leads to the loss of interests in school. School is a healthy place for kids and young adults to learn and be social. But all though students are healthy in the social aspect or most of them anyways, students are not healthy in their everyday diets. Students at high school and even at elementary level have parents that struggle to get by. Students rely on many things that the school supplies such as cheap lunches and classroom
In the education system, the mandatory attendance policy requires students to be in school, but they do not necessarily have to like it. Disinterest in schooling effects how unsuccessful students will be, if students are bored it is only because society has pushed them into the vicious cycle of meaningless education. In Gatto’s article “Against School”, he claims that both students and teachers are bored,
Boredom….nobody likes it. Boredom is caused by being bored, the definition of bored is “feeling weary because one is unoccupied or lacks in one’s current activity”. Being bored is no fun, and people say that boredom is good for you! Boredom can be destructive-leading to anxiety, psychological problems, and bad decisions. Boredom can also be agony for people who can’t cope with it.
The students make bad decisions. They are not involved in any extra-curricular actives; therefore, they get involved with gangs, drugs, and alcohol. They get pregnant and commit crimes. Numerous of teens that dropout have a poor school attitude and becomes bored by school. Being bored day in and day out can get frustrating, often so frustrating that a teen will simply stop going to school. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ HealthyChildren.org, teens who are offered alternate learning opportunities, such a...
The problem that most students run into is their attitude toward school, they think school is a waste of time. Almost every students don’t like school, they think do homework and go to school is not the best way to live their life. This is the attitude that will not help them in school if they want to learn. Students can fix this attitude if they want to change their way of seeing school. First what they have to do is change all of their thought such as, school is a waste of time, I can do
Now I do not speak for everyone in my generation, but kids, in general, would rather be out having fun than in a classroom listening to a teacher. Even a good class with an exciting teacher does not beat swimming or a sunset or frolicking in the meadow or eating a banana split.
One of the biggest problems with education is that it is poisoned in the way people view school. Some common phrases among students are that ?school is boring; school is work.? Theses attitudes have a direct effect on the effort that students put into their studies. One will obviously work harder when they aren?t bored with the task. There is a difference between hearing and listening and if students approach school as something that they see as boring and stressful than that student will only be hearing what the professor is saying. They may show up to class but this does not mean that they are necessarily there to learn. If school were fun than students would enjoy learning and thus, would learn more since it would be an enjoyable activity. School is just like a sport or a book in that if the book is well written and enjoyable than there is more incentive to read it, just as someone will put more effort into a sport that is fun than a sport they don?t enjoy. If school were fun, than students would strive to learn more.
High school students today are finding it harder to have motivation in school. Lack of motivation can come from a range of dislike between teachers or the school itself. A Student “is the initiator of his or her actions with regard to studying” (Alivernini 241-242). That is why it is important to focus on how they are not being positively motivated by their instructors or the school. Today students are finding it harder to connect to their teachers. Some students think that “teachers who exhibit various forms of controlling behavior, such as giving rigid directions or ord...
Gorilla Rising Hintz says that “Sometimes I do smart things. Sometimes I do dumb things. Most of the time I don't do anything.” The quote shows that people can do good things and bad things, but they don’t want to work hard in school. People think that school is like a game to play and spend most of the time having fun. People want to party most of the time and they think school is not important. When people hear about a party they will go and have fun, but in the morning they have classes and homework. People just feel lazy after that night because of what they did. Having fun is part of people’s life, but it doesn’t mean that they have to avoid things that are more important than studying and working. Lazy people most likely are not successful in their lives because they don’t want to do anything in th...
