A) Plot:
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher begins when Clay Jensen receives seven audiotapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl from his town who recently killed herself. According to Hannah, each person on her tapes is a reason for her suicide. Clay is on the tapes, yet doesn’t see why. He has to listen to figure it out. When Clay finally gets to his tape, it is exposed that he wasn’t actually blamed for her suicide. Clay realizes that even though he didn't do anything bad to Hannah, he let rumors stand in the way of their budding relationship. Clay could have made a positive difference in Hannah’s life and hopefully prevented her suicide. Clay's possible role in Hannah's is hard for Clay to comprehend. He knows Hannah did this to her self, but is angry because he didn't do anything to stop her. Clay who’s normally calm gets so mad; he punches a fence and cuts his hand. Clay after staying up all night listening to the tapes brings himself to school the next day, realizing he cant hide the rest of his life and reaches out to another girl, Skye Miller. He does this hoping to keep her from the same fate of Hannah.
B) Three Characters
1) Hannah Baker
• Hannah is the girl that committed suicide. She is the person the whole story is based on and is the girl speaking through the tapes. The story is told from her point of view.
• Hannah is manipulative. She used so much effort with recording the tapes and passing out maps of where she’s been just to get people to do what she wants them to do. She also threatens to release the tapes if the listeners don’t pass them on or do what she says.
• Hannah’s relationship with the other characters was bad because they influenced her life in a negative way. She was happy until being voted on in a s...

...new, could help you do that” (14.84). The style is confusing having short sentences but that’s what makes the story interesting. Your read Clay’s thoughts so, they shouldn’t be perfect. When we think it’s not always logical, so for Jay Asher to explain Clay’s thoughts and what Hannah is saying makes the story all the more interesting.

“ On many nights leading to the first day of school here, I’d climb on top of that rocket and let my head fall back against the steering wheel. The night breeze blowing through the bars calmed me” (page 24). This is an example of one of the few places where Hannah could go and be calm or relax. She felt calm playing in a rocket ship at a park; a park where little kids play made her feel comfortable and safe. She thought it was safe because little kids have no worries; she wanted to stop worrying and be a little kid again.
2) Hannah tells stories of her “other” life in which she attends school and looks forward to the weekends. As Chaya, her new friends are again shocked by the fact that she-a girl-attends school. Hannah explains that he...
From saying that he wants to kill himself to dissing everyone who has different beliefs than him, it is shown that he is suffering from depression. From the time the novel begins, till the novel ends, many different examples of a state of depression are apparent. In the novel Thirteen Reasons Why, Hannah was suffering from depression just like Holden does in Salinger’s novel. Depression is a part of some people’s life that can be truly menaceful and degrading as it is shown in Holden’s and Hannah’s
At first, Hannah was a pesty, teenage girl who didn’t care about her family or religion. After undergoing a harsh journey, Hannah soon began to change her attitude. She now understands her family and her heritage better. As Hannah’s mind shifts, the theme is developed. Hannah understands how the events in a person’s life can impact the person they are today. In addition, she learned that it is important to remember our history. Those who do not remember the past are destined to repeat
That same night, I walked by Hannah’s cell and I saw her staring down at a newspaper clip out of a young teenager shaking hands with another man. I recognized that the boy was the man who visited today. Could he be Hannah’s son? If he is, then why hadn’t he visit her all this time? Hannah brushed her fingers across the books on her shelf, and took out a sheet of paper and started writing in it. This time, her eyes turned grey and they were empty, but free.

The main characters in this show all play a different role in contributing to Hannah's death. Hannah
The attitudes and morals expressed in Hannah Montana often reflected those of her real life as Miley Cyrus. During several episodes of Hannah Montana, Montana was placed in situations that caused her to have to make a decision based on her the things her parents had taught her. After much thought, Montana typically made the decision to do what was morally and socially acceptable. This type of attitude and leadership made Hannah Montana a role model for many young girls around the country. After the ending of the long-lived Hannah Montana series, the suppressed identity of Miley Cyrus emerged.
The personality of a character comes into question when thinking about the past like we do in, Thirteen Reasons Why. In each tape, Hannah described the personality and actions of those who hurt her. The damage was especially severe since she was new in town and vulnerable. This made her trusting of Justin, Jessica, Alex, and others featured on the tapes. But when she was betrayed by them she started shutting everyone around her out. People who could have helped her and prevent her suicide, like Clay. The whole situation could have been avoided if Justin had not betrayed Hannah. If Hannah had trusted Clay her suicide could
He doesn’t have any friends when he comes to America, and Ganwar doesn’t seem to want to be with him. Hannah plays a considerable role in helping Kek build his bridge. She is Kek’s first friend in America. Being friends with Hannah led Kek to other friendships. In times when Kek feels upset, Hannah is there to make him smile, like when he accidently broke his aunt’s dishes. Even though he felt terrible, Hannah helped him see the light of the situation by making him laugh. Hannah also helps Kek open up more. He tells her all about Ganwar and his “many worries”. He tells her about his family and what happened to them. He feels alone in his sadness, but he realizes that Hannah has also “seen sad places”. Knowing that he is not alone helps Kek feel more optimistic about his situation. Having optimism like this helps Kek build his
Jules Verne in his book, Mysterious Island, quoted: “It is a great misfortune to be alone, my friends; and it must be believed that solitude can quickly destroy reason”. This quote can easily be associated with Hannah Baker, the protagonist of the book Thirteen Reasons why, written by Jay Asher. She likes candy, hot chocolate, blue nail polish, filling out surveys, and reading and writing poetry. Deeply romantic, she wants to find love, and is exploring relationships naturally, at her own pace. She's also smart, attractive, and friendly. Hannah had just arrived in a new town, new school, new people and was ready to start her life again, but what followed were the next three most miserable years of her life. She had entered her school with great expectations and a fresh look upon the world, but had found herself faced with great challenges and obstacles; she had to deal with being alone, fitting in, and not knowing who to trust. To overcome these problems Hannah had to go through immense hardships which developed her character largely; struggling with them developed her character in three instances: Her relationship with Justin Foley, the accident with Jenny Kurtz, and her very last interaction with Mr. Porter.
Kit should not have went back to Hannah Tupper’s House for 3 reasons, Kit knew she should not go back, Kit was not really helping, and Kit was only hurting herself.
Hannah’s reputation was destroyed by many people throughout the book. Her reputation is the cause of many things that lead her to end her life. Some of the reasons that she says some people made her end her life are more severe than others. Most of the people in the book only have interactions with Hannah because of her reputation. In school your reputation means a lot because what people hear about you is what they will think of you when your name comes up or they see you.
We picked this because it talks about what the whole book is really about which is where a girl kills herself because over the years she gets hurt by friends and the people around her and she thinks she’s had enough of that so she ends her life because of the hurting she went through. The connection to the message of this book is that Hannah felt lost and hurt so much that she hated the fact that these people around her could cause so much pain in her life and she thought it wasn’t fair for them to do that because like she said in the passage if you mess with one part of a person’s life then you're with there whole
Who she thanks for her relationship with Him is, not surprisingly, her own mom. Hannah says, “My mom taught me a lot about it [Jesus Christ and Christianity] and I really believe in it but I’m still young.” With big aspirations, like learning more about God, Hannah doesn’t forget about her dream job of being a “dentist… or a nurse… a school nurse.” She realizes a lot of schooling will be needed to do such a big job, but it’s worth it in the end to be able to help others. Helping others is what Hannah is really all
We finally arrived at the cabins after a treacherous eight mile hike up and back Hawk Hill, a mountain on looking the raging but soothing waves of the ocean. Hannah, along with the rest of her class, went to the dining hall to enjoy a delicious meal. After the now class of full bellies finished their meals they rushed to their night activity. Every last one of them crammed into a small room on the campus. They talked about the trip to Muir Woods the next day. The talk took about twenty minutes then they separated into small groups and perform skits. When the night activity ended, everyone went back to their dorms where Mr.Monroe, their homeroom teacher, sat on a chair in the corner of the room with the look of despair and anger on his face.
