Throughout the years, many movies have had various music artist compose songs especially for their movie. Artist like Kenny Loggins and Michael Jackson have benefited greatly from making a soundtrack for a feature film. Some of the most successful soundtracks have come from blockbuster films such as “The Body Guard”, “The Lion King”, “Frozen” and many other films. Songs from these films have not only topped charts, but have comforted people during times of needs and have helped people discover who they are. “I see fire” revolves around what death means and how that can affect the people that have come near it and lost, as well as people that have lost somebody to it. By creating very detailed and using specific words to make the reader transport
We want to believe that they have an amazing realization of what an amazing life they had and they just go in peace without any worry. Although if we were to find the surface meaning of the verses “Now I see fire inside the mountain” could be described as somebody that is watching something burn and that he knows is going to die from been burned alive. However when we go into depth about that sentence we can described it as somebody that is trying so hard to stay alive, but as much as they try to fight they can feel themselves slipping. The fire inside the mountain, could be the soul of the person that I slowly leaving this world. The soul is still shinning bright to stay alive, even when the odds are against him. But it is natural that a fire can’t stay alive inside a mountain for long, it will eventually die out. The fire burning bright that has the blue hue at its core at the beginning is the strength and will a person has to live. They are determined to make it, the blue represents the pure strength and confidence. Although as more time passes the fire slowly loses its power, which is the exact moment when the person comes to term that they probably won’t make it. However they still have hope that just maybe they will make it. When a fire it’s at his final moments we only see little fight color and red
In the book Our America: Life and Death on the South Side of Chicago, LeAlan Johns and Lloyd Newman, as two kids grow up in ghetto, document their life from 1993 to 1996 to show the rest of the America the reality of living in a poor black neighborhood. Through vast interviews, diaries and monologues, Johns and Newman provide a new perspective on the ongoing issues in the ignorant black community; they encourage the black residents to express their point of views on gang, drug, crime, and they also address their hope. Since this book is story with long time span and fragmental writing styles, it is impossible to finish the soundtrack for chapters in detail within eight songs. Therefore, if I am going to be the music composer of the movie based on this book, I would choose eight songs for the following eight themes.
The movie, Loving, directed by Jeff Nichols is based on a true story about Richard, and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple fighting for their rights to stay married, and be able to raise their family in the state of Virginia where in the 1950’s it was illegal to be married to a race other than your own. Richard Loving grew up in a small town called Caroline County in the state of Virginia, where he met Mildred and knew that he would do anything to be able to call Mildred his wife. Richard proposed to Mildred on an estate of land he bought for them to raise a family on one day. Mildred agrees to marry him, but unfortunately, they are aware that in the state of Virginia it is illegal for them to get married because of their anti-miscegenation law. They agree that they will go to Washington, D.C., where they will be able to become legally married. In 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving became legally married in Washington, D.C. When they return home to the State of Virginia they are harassed by the Caroline County police and thrown into jail because they got married outside of the state that they reside in, which is illegal in Virginia. Richard is set out on bail, but Mildred is forced to stay in jail for several more days. Richard and Mildred’s case was presented before a judge to decide the ramifications of their actions.
As audiences watch “Fire Away,” even for just a moment, those words become an issue, those words are going through their mind and make them aware of what they can cause. The kairos of this video is very important to Stapleton, not only was this video a huge success in the music industry, but it was Stapleton’s very first music video ever released. Having such a hard pressed subject as his first video, brings kairos into a new light, as the video had great success. Kairos, meaning timing, could not be more appropriate for this song, as the timing of the song and video was able to blast Stapleton into the country music history books, as being not only an amazing singer, but being someone who is unafraid to take risks and bring country music back to its roots. Many things in this video make an audience feel cheerful, the happiness of the couple in the beginning and seeing their life begin to unfold. Many things in the video make the audience sorrowful, the many attempts of suicide and the heartbreak when the battle is lost. Many scenes in the video can make the audience feel a sense of fight, the light at the end of every bad scene and the unwavering faith of the man, through every situation that was thrown his way. Through the use of pathos, this video was able to make its audience of all different people, relate and connect with the
The imagery of fire continues in the story; the building of their fires, how the man molds the fires, and how they stoke the fire. When the boy gets sick the father is referred to many times of how he builds and rekindles the fire. This actual fire is a symbol for the fire that the man and the boy discuss carrying within in them. The man fights to save his son and the fire within the boy
To fully understand the relationship between a filmmaker and a composer, it is helpful to take a closer look at the filmmaker’s position towards music in film in general; these can of course differ substantially from one director to another. It seems, one must think, that the complete narrative and emotive potential of film music is not yet fully recognized and appreciated in many film produc...
Overall, fire representation is not one of destruction but one of knowledge, thinking, new insight, and acknowledgment.
The films musical score alerts the viewer to an approaching attack of the shark and they automatically build this association with the music in their mind. Horror films often make use of high string instrument notes that irritate viewers and increase tension. Music plays an important role in film editing and the editor must choose its placement wisely to ensure its intended effect on the viewer’s mind and
For this essay I will be looking at the work of Hans Zimmer to discuss how music in film engages the viewer and evokes emotion and pulls the viewer toward the film. Hans Zimmer is a German born music composer. Hans Zimmer’s love of music stems from his childhood when he learned how to play various instruments. Before Zimmer began composing music for films he was in a well-known band. The band was called The Buggles whom were famous for their song Video Killed the Radio Star. After the Buggles Zimmer played in other bands but never had another hit. As Zimmer has progressed as a film composer so has his list of nominations and awards. Zimmer has won 4 Grammy Awards and 2 Golden Globes and many more for his outstanding film scores. The reason I chose to write this essay on Zimmer was that his genres and music score are extremely versatile ranging from animations to comedy to dark thrillers. This is important to highlight as it shows Zimmer can create almost any atmosphere with his music whether it be sad or creating tension that all cause us to engage with the film. Zimmer's use of themes and introduction of different instruments allowed him to create these wonderful engaging film score. In this essay I will look at three films by Hans Zimmer these are The Holiday Rush and Rain Man.
As an audience we are manipulated from the moment a film begins. In this essay I wish to explore how The Conversation’s use of sound design has directly controlled our perceptions and emotional responses as well as how it can change the meaning of the image. I would also like to discover how the soundtrack guides the audience’s attention with the use of diegetic and nondiegetic sounds.
A good movie has many factors for it to be a great. Movies can end up being terrible or great depending on how well these factors are done. In my opinion the factors that make up a good move is a good story , an interesting cast of characters , and a very good and satisfying ending. A good movie needs these factors so that the movie can be memorable and enjoyable. Though if all of this is done in a wrong way the movie will be forgotten and will probably make you want your money back. These are the factors and they should be used as guidelines whenever someone is making a movie.
Movies are everywhere. They are a part of everyone’s life. Think about it, how many movies do you
How could a company that was built into a multibillion dollar empire fail less than two decades later? Blockbuster Entertainment started with one store in Dallas in 1985 and rose up to become the dominant force in the movie rental industry. They were acquired by Viacom, at the pinnacle of their success, for $8.4 billion in 1994 and were in bankruptcy by 2010. A series of blunders by upper management, highlighted by a lack of strategic vision, led to Blockbuster’s rapid decline and ultimate failure.
Sound is what brings movies to life, but, not many viewers really notice. A film can be shot with mediocre quality, but, can be intriguing if it has the most effective foley, sound effects, underscore, etc. Sound in movies band together and unfold the meaning of the scenes. When actors are speaking, the dialogue can bring emotion to the audience, or, it can be used as the ambient sound. Music is one of the main things to have when filmmaking. The use of Claudia Gorbman’s Seven Principles of Composition, Mixing and Editing in Classical Film gives audiences a perspective of sound, and, how it can have an impact on them.
The importance of music in movies is highly regarded for manipulating the viewer’s emotions and helping them immerse into the story. Music is one of the prime elements in cinema. Without it a movie would feel dull and unexciting. There are three elements in a movie: one is acting, the second is picture, and the third one is music. It is a holy trinity; if incomplete, there would be a lack of sensation and excitement. Both acting and picture can stand independently from one another, but music is the one that makes the movie memorable.
How do movies affect our brain? Is the movie culture directing our thoughts in a certain path? Do movies change our behavior? Do movies carry a certain message? Perhaps a warning? These are all questions that we don’t normally give much thought to when we watch a film. However, it is important to employ our critical thinking skills when we analyze a movie we just watched.
