Once the accounting department was outsourced, I worked as a CS Support Clerk where I helped to manage orders, processed and followed up on customer credits and I entered purchase orders into the system. My position was eliminated after Cenveo purchased National Envelope, and since then I have worked toward my Associate Degree in Business Accounting at STCC. GEICO Insurance is a name well known in today 's society. Most people are familiar with the television advertisement with the saying, "GEICO can save you 15% or more on car insurance". However, in Entertainment Weekly 's June issue, GEICO displays an advertisement that explains all of the reasons why GEICO is better than the other auto insurers, rather than just tell the audience the percentage of how much they will save. The advertisement displays two popcorn containers, one bigger than the other. Underneath the bigger popcorn cup, there are additional individual popcorns that seem to have fallen out of the cup and brackets with the company 's qualities. The bigger cup also has the name GEICO in big, bold letters above the cup, while the smaller
This advertisement from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) immediately affects the viewer’s emotions. By playing sad music in the background while images of scared and injured animals pass the screen, the creators of this advertisement are successful in compelling many viewers to open up their wallets and donate to the cause. Through the use of common rhetorical devices as well as less obvious strategies, this advertisement targets the viewer’s mind and succeeds in its goal of presenting the topic as a problem that needs to be solved. However, it is interesting to consider whether the problem that should be addressed is really animal neglect or something bigger, like the fact that many citizens prioritize
They tell how much it will cost you to buy one thing and then another, overwhelming you with the cost of life. They then reveal to you the priceless moment that comes from all of this cost. Can you guess which advertisements I am talking about? That’s right, MasterCard commercials; The commercials titled: “Spending Quality Time with Your Family”, “Leaving Your Cash At Home”, “One Stadium Down, 29 To Go” from MasterCard’s “priceless” ad campaign, just reel you in with that priceless moment. Well you would never guess just how many tactics they use in one commercial just to suck you in. They use many little clever details in order to appeal to people and convince them that they want to use their company and not someone else’s. These MasterCard advertisements are targeted towards an American audience whether the audience be families or the youth of America. American values and interests, along with a variety of visuals, text, and subject matters are incorporated in order to do this. The ads also appeal to these audiences through emotion and logic. By using all of these different tools, MasterCard is able to create a commercial to convince a mass of people to use their company without thinking any further than the commercial that just flashed before their eyes.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA) primary goal is to save all animals from cruelty related situations, provide them with medical care and food, help find a loving home for every animal and fight for more laws to be made in order to prevent animal cruelty. The ASPCA uses different ads to try and get people to donate towards this cause. Their Ads are both effective and ineffective in persuading people to donate because it relies heavily on the emotion of guilt. Among these tactics the most common themes are the typical sad, dying dog, the “only 60 cents a day” guilt trip and the overall organization, which serve the purpose of making the audience feel liable for the well being of animals.
In 1974 the Weyenberg Shoe Manufacturing Company released an advertisement that depicted a woman lying naked on the floor behind a shoe, with the words “Keep her where she belongs...” pasted across the top. In March of 2013 musical artist Robin Thicke released a song titled “Blurred Lines,” and, with its catchy beat, it took the nation by storm. However, upon listening to the lyrics several people began to complain about the message of the song, one that perpetuates rape culture. A few days later in March the situation became even worse, when Thicke, along with T.I. and Pharrell, who were originally featured on the track, posted the music video to Youtube. In it, women are shown topless in nude thongs, crawling around on the floor and dancing

Advertisements are located everywhere. No one can go anywhere without seeing at least one advertisement. These ads, as they are called, are an essential part of every type of media. They are placed in television, radio, magazines, and can even be seen on billboards by the roadside. Advertisements allow media to be sold at a cheaper price, and sometimes even free, to the consumer. Advertisers pay media companies to place their ads into the media. Therefore, the media companies make their money off of ads, and the consumer can view this material for a significantly less price than the material would be without the ads. Advertisers’ main purpose is to influence the consumer to purchase their product. This particular ad, located in Sport magazine, attracts the outer-directed emulators. The people that typically fit into this category of consumers are people that buy items to fit in or to impress people. Sometimes ads can be misleading in ways that confuse the consumer to purchase the product for reasons other than the actual product was designed for. Advertisers influence consumers by alluding the consumer into buying this product over a generic product that could perform the same task, directing the advertisement towards a certain audience, and developing the ad where it is visually attractive.
Microsoft is a well-know, huge technology company that has revenue increasing by more than 50%. Their products and software vary from all platforms. For example, they vary from laptops, to video games and consoles, to phones, and even software like Office 365. After doing some research I came to the conclusion that Microsoft struggles with advertising. Their spark on products is not fully there. Some of their competitors have their advertising down. If Microsoft wants to keep growing in revenue, I suggest they invest a certain amount of funds into better marketing tools and advertising skills.
The normal title for the job that I chose is a “Chartered Accountant”. The job of a chartered accountant is to provide accounting and business advice to companies and individuals. Chartered accountant may also provide information to clients on tax planning, personal financial planning, corporate finance, and information technology (Job Description). The major skills required for a chartered accountant are communications skills, computer skills, and listening skills. A chartered accountant needs communication skills, as they need to talk with their clients, and need to be able to effectively tell the client the advice they are giving. A chartered accountant needs to have computer skills, as they are constantly making calculations using a computer and using different programs to display financial information properly to their clients. Finally, a chartered accountant needs to have good listening skills, as they must give proper and full attention to what the client is saying, without interrupting unnecessarily in between (Do You Have it in You to Become a Chartered Accountant?). Personal abilities to have that are beneficial are strong interpersonal skills. This is because chartered accountants always have to communicate and be social with their clients. They are constantly put in a position where they have to share their expertise with companies and clients. So strong interpersonal skills are important so that they can effectively communicate information with their clients. Also, knowledge of computer programs for auditing and financing is a good personal aptitude to have.
