Benefits and Implications of Technology Use in America’s Classrooms
In today’s world, technology is transforming conventional methods of every facet of human life; from the way that we grow our crops, to the way that we communicate with one another. Technology has opened our minds to new ideas and even to new places, such as space exploration. Simply put, technology means applying science toward an objective and the outcome is advancement in modes of construction.
Technology is improving at exponential rates and being applied toward nearly every industry in America.
For this reason, further advancement and integration of technology in every aspect of life is undoubtedly a critical element of the future of our society. Technologies that we; in the year 2014, cannot possibly imagine or comprehend, will be at the forefront of the next generation’s life; changing the way that they think, act, learn, and even feel. It is highly important that we take this inevitability into consideration when educating the children of today that will become the adults of tomorrow. As the world changes and job markets change, it is critical that we; as educators, teach children how to use the tools of today so that they might be better equipped to adapt to tomorrow’s technologies. Working with the technologies that have already been developed, educators are able to teach in new ways, with new tools, and students are able to begin working with computers and other devices from a young age and gain a high quality education that puts the student at the center of the learning process. Technology is now a fundamental facilitator in the learning process, and an important commodity in the field of education; enhancing learning in many ways f...

Some say that technology is a distraction and hinders the students from fully learning and developing important skills that they claim only the interactions with the teacher can provide. Teachers have said that technology is a powerful tool that allows them to introduce and demonstrate learning activities in a completely new way. It has been studied and proven that most kids are more motivated and interested in the concepts they are supposed to learn when the teaching tool of technology is used. A fifth grade teacher stated, “Technology is the ultimate carrot for students. It's somet...
Generally, I think most parents, teachers and administrators feel that technology can be a valuable teaching asset. Why is this not translating to practical use in the classroom? I don’t think the general public has been sold on the positive effects of technology use in education. Politics and money aside, there should be a blitzkrieg of information on the positives of this technolo...
These benefits I believe include excitement, flexibility, motivation for more students, which will cover a wide age-range, learning styles, and many different topics. They also will help create a personalized learning environment. As an educator, I have learned how these modifications in technology can help to motivate, engage, and enhance the learning of my students. Thornburg (2009) “…some technologies have the potential to shape and reshape educational practice in the next few years” (p. 9). During this course, we have discovered and discussed various benefits as well as challenges associated with adopting new technology. These resources and interactions have been influential in helping me focus more on the benefits, and they have given me tools to address the challenges. This course has helped me understand that the use of interactive educational activities can promote higher order thinking skill, such as problem solving, critical thinking, and
New technologies can either enhance the learning process of an individual or even present a somewhat bigger challenge to the professors in a classroom setting. In essence, the topic on technology and education has been a concern for parents, teachers, school officials, and in some cases, the students. Technology in the classroom is a debatable discussion had by educators all over the world. The topic falls on both ends of the spectrum with educators young and old. Some feel that education needs to go back to the basics, while others feel the technology is the only way to go and it is what the future holds for students. Both of these ways of teaching are very valuable, and a middle ground needs to be established in order for the most success to happen in the classroom.
Within technology comes the gateway to almost everything that is out in the internet, it opens a whole new world to the students and the teachers that use them. The outcome of the uses, if they happen to be good or bad, come from the restrictions and the management of usage of said technology inside a classroom. Educators see firsthand how the used in their daily lives influence how a student learns. Thanks to technology not only has students and teachers changed the ways they learn and teach, learning itself has changed as well. It is not only crucial to have the technological tools needed in a classroom, but also an educator that can mend and mold the technology to their rightful use. The use of technology in a classroom not only expands the tools and gadgets, not to mention adds much needed knowledge that will help students later on in life, but also brings a whole new and better way to teach and learn.

Wrapped in the comfort of your favorite blanket, you sit on the plump couch as the rain tip-taps on the window. Your phone, swarmed by texts, is buzzing atop the arm of the couch and you have not determined when to grab it. Molding society into what it has become today, technology is a part of nearly everyone’s lives. The push for technology has evolved from the workplace to the home and now it is emerging into schools. Technology, such as a personal computer or tablet, with the proper precautions, should be implemented into schools as a learning device. Technology does not just allow students to stay connected with family and friends, it is also an excellent tool for learning, and encourages the responsible use of technology.

Technology has revolutionized the way in which all humans go about their daily lives. In every second of every day, our world and way of life becomes more developed and dependant on technology for the basic needs of human existences. Whether it is at home, work, school, walking down the street, or listening to music, technology has allowed people to do things better, faster, and more efficiently. As the world continues to explode with new technology being developed and current technology being refined, the emphasis on technology in education will be increasingly important. Technology can significantly enhance the development of learning and it is important that an understanding of technological principles and instruction be establish in our educational systems. Through the proper use, having technology incorporated into the curriculum of school systems gives children the opportunity to become smarter and more well rounded individuals.
The overuse of technology in the educational system inhibits learning for school-aged children. The use of technology in schools has been helpful in gaining resources for school work, but it is crippling the minds of children. Technology has many different effects on education, one of them being enhancing the students learning. Technology may enhance the students learning and may assist most students in achieving their academic standards. When technology and appropriate teaching methods are combined, technology may increase the academic achievement. Positive effects have been found in all major subject areas, from preschool to higher education, both regular and special needs students. Educational technology has been found to have a positive effect on a student’s attitude toward learning and on self-concepts. The introduction of technology into the learning environment has allowed the learning to be more student-centered, to encourage group learning, and helps to stimulate an increase in the student-teacher interaction. Technology has shown a shift from a focus on a student’s memorization to their problem solving. Through technology’s use, learning opportunities have become unrestricted by time or place, allowing lifelong learning. Student use of technology through communications can also help to enhance access to a career and continued education. Students are more likely to use a computer to get help because they can to it themselves. Technology is helping students to become independent.
