Technology In The Classroom Analysis

Within technology comes the gateway to almost everything that is out in the internet, it opens a whole new world to the students and the teachers that use them. The outcome of the uses, if they happen to be good or bad, come from the restrictions and the management of usage of said technology inside a classroom. Educators see firsthand how the used in their daily lives influence how a student learns. Thanks to technology not only has students and teachers changed the ways they learn and teach, learning itself has changed as well. It is not only crucial to have the technological tools needed in a classroom, but also an educator that can mend and mold the technology to their rightful use. The use of technology in a classroom not only expands the tools and gadgets, not to mention adds much needed knowledge that will help students later on in life, but also brings a whole new and better way to teach and learn.

Mostly all educators in the 21st century use a form of PowerPoint to teach a subject, highlight and break down textbooks in order to better teach a lecture.

With the use of a projector or a smart screen, educators are able to aid students and their different ways of capturing information. Not all students learn by listening, most students happen to be a mixture of two or all three types learning styles. With the help of technology, educators are able to connect with visual and kinesthetic learners. This can be done by showcasing visual demonstrations of the topic of discussion therefore appealing visual learners. With the kinesthetic learners, the use of technology such as computers allow students to learn trial and error by doing the work their selves virtually. Computers allow students to have a virtual reality of sorts that help give them the hands on experience in a different but just as effective way than it was done

before.
With technology, as with most things, common knowledge is greatly needed not to mention extremely important when teaching. Without some form of background where computers and the likes are concerned, teaching with their aid might not be of help at all. If an educator fails when using their tools to their advantage, it makes teaching much harder than needed be. While technology can be a marvelous help, it can create problems if the educators fails to have some common knowledge on the tool they are using, let it be a computer program, tablet, smartboard and the likes. The issues revolving the complications technology can cause in a classroom can revolve around little-to-no training given to the teacher. If the educator is having difficulty teaching due to lack of equipment training, students will have difficulty learning. An effective teacher knows what technology in the classroom can truly help transform their students’ education. They know what the best tools are, and how and when to use them (Cox).
Access via the Internet to engaging and transformative content from around the globe via tested and reliable learning portals (Stevens, 2011, August). Schools are able to block off most sites that are not educationally friendly making it much harder for students to get sidetracked when utilizing a computer lab or anything of the likes. With the internet allowing access to almost everything, educators do not want a child to stumble upon anything that might taint their innocence, not to mention land the teacher and the school in trouble if the child wonders home knowing things kids his or her age should not know anything about yet. Being able to have a controlled and restricted educational environment is crucial when dealing with curious minds. All though learning is all well and done, curiosity can lead to very dangerous topics a kid might not be ready for just yet if no rules and regulations are set. Many schools (not including higher education such as colleges and universities) have a block in their system that prevent students from entering none school related websites, a few schools travel this over to their Wi-Fi, blocking the same sites when the internet is accessed through their Wi-Fi.
As a future educator, but most importantly a current learner, I know firsthand the importance of technology where education is concerned. As someone that learns by listening, watching and practicing, technology allows me to sit through lecture in a much smoother way. Listening to a professor speak with no pause, regardless the student’s passion for the topic of discussion, can get boring very quickly. When a discussion is boring, not to mention places an already tired student near drowsiness, concentration is hard to achieve especially if a student needs more than mare words to understand and learn. Visual learners need the pictures, they need the demonstrations a teacher can easily show thanks to good old PowerPoint and YouTube. That’s discussing college students, imagine teaching children, most of all, children that are more visual and hands on than adults. Explaining through word of mouth will not do the job, technology thankfully helps in forming a nice medium between all three styles of teaching aiding not only the students but the teachers and professors as well. With this in mind, the experience being acquired and already gained on both sides of the spectrum, technology is a given necessity in my future teachings.
