Having the capability to be socially responsible in American society today is significant because of the huge impact that one can make towards society as a whole. My opinion of being socially responsible is to do what is best not just for yourself, but your community in all because your decisions affect your community. It is important to be socially responsible most of the time because your community depends on your choices. Responsibility is a lot of different things and has many different parts. One part of responsibility is social responsibility. Social responsibility is being responsible for people, for the actions of people, and for actions that affect people. Social responsibility is about holding a group, organization, or company accountable for its effect on the people around it. When you do the wrong thing, many people pay for it, especially everyone that you know.
What is social responsibility? Social responsibility is an obligation to act in a way that benefits society at large, people can do this through working to help improve Earth’s sustainability through processes such as recycling, composting, and being polite to others. Thanking a police officer or veterans for their service, or confronting consequences and accepting them are just a few examples of social responsibility. Sadly, the vast majority of individuals are not socially responsible. We are often fueled by fear, and the fear of losing power is so devastating that we make irrational and socially irresponsible decisions. Then, when those individuals work in a business or group themselves into corporations, those corporations are not socially responsible either. I have made the following promises to myself about my individual and social responsibility: Be economically responsible, be socially friendly and be a good influence on others.
I saw in Egypt a city full of dirt and debris cleaning itself up; a city whose citizens became full of pride to say that they are from Alexandria and a city that is changing. Individual Social Responsibility is a moral belief where we as individuals, have a responsibility toward society. Being "socially responsible" is about all individuals behaving ethically and sensitively towards social, economic, and environmental issues. It is about being accountable for our actions and being conscious of the impact our actions have on others, our communities, and the environment. By taking an active participation in resolving some of the issues, we as individuals should all strive to set good examples by applying and adhering to socially responsible practices, such as improving the quality of lives for individuals and their families, volunteering energy and time towards improving and benefiting society. This summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer at many diverse locations. From the hospital to the local library, I truly value my experience and treasure everything it has thought me. Volunteering lets us experience and learn things that we otherwise would not have learned; volunteering opens doors for us that we may not have been able to open before. Being a socially responsible member of an American Society means that a person has a particular set of skills in their life that they use to better themselves and the current situations in their life surrounding them. This means that having certain attributes that benefit society makes them a socially responsible member. Basic traits, such as a caring attitude, sense of control, acceptance of self and others, etc. shows off the person’s sense of respect and dignity towards themselves and to others.
When i think about social responsibility i think of being nice to one another. Being socially responsible in America means being involved in one’s community such as being active. One can be socially active in many situations such as in church, school and attitude. According to Roselyn Polk, in her article she says that “ it means experiencing as well as appreciating our interdependence and connectedness with others and our environment.(Polk) Such as going to church and being in a youth group.
Volunteering is also a great way to gain experience and references for a job. Giving back to your community can help you learn more about yourself and even put you on a path to your future career. Both the people you are helping and your fellow volunteers can give you new insights. No matter what groups of people you’re working with, you’ll find that they have information and ways of looking at the world that can broaden

Just a small act can make a huge difference in someone’s life. The future is dependent on the individual person and the people they surround themselves with. Just a few hours will change both the volunteer’s life and the one that is in need.
While volunteering I realized how much impact I have the ability to make with just a few hours. With just four hours I helped others by handing out supplies that were needed as well as sorted food and prepared snack items that would be used and eaten throughout the day and week. With the work that I got done not only did I help, I also connected with the people around me and had meaningful and positive conversations. While there I felt connected to the community as well as involved in the current struggles they were experiencing even though they were not my own. I felt that if I could have a positive interaction with anyone it would help their day or current situation seem more positive.
Several people find it hard to take time out of their day to stop and help a neighbor in need, but do not realize if they do not help, who else will? Being able to recognize that there are others besides you in the community you live in, and making time to step in and help in any way, shows that you are solicitous and attentive. Giving back to the community can be done in different ways; a common form of giving back to the community is volunteering, which can be offered by clubs in school.
