Everyday people decide to put forward their time to help out family, friends, strangers, and even the community. When they make this choice to selflessly help others, they are making an impact not only on others, but on themselves as well. They allow growth in both the community, but also in their own lives. Volunteers gain different types of skills from performing various tasks, while also aiding in the well-being of society. Volunteering helps build a more cohesive, safer, stronger community. It increases the social network between communities and neighborhood. It promotes people to be more active in civic engagement and concerned of citizenship. Volunteering also delivers some parts of public services, encouraging more people work in public section, helping raise the educational performance of youth, leading environmental movement and adapting to climate change. Volunteering begins to impact the lives of the volunteers in multiple ways, while also affecting the community. People volunteer in different types of ways in different types of situations. Some of the most usual places where volunteers are seen are in hospitals, churches, schools, soup kitchens, and disaster relief groups. Some people are members of volunteer groups for long periods of time, while others join only when certain circumstances require volunteer service. Whether or not they are volunteering for themselves or not, their volunteer work still has an impact on them and the community.

It allows the community to develop into a stronger, more cohesive environment with people who realize that helping others is just as good, if not better, as helping themselves. Volunteering usually doesn’t require a huge time commitment. It can help even the shyest of people build lasting connections in both the job field and in their personal lives. Volunteering gives people an opportunity to make a real difference in their lives, in their neighbor’s lives, and in their community. Volunteering can make almost anyone feel good. It may appear to be a selfless task, but deep down, volunteering has its selfish aspects. Those aspects are just covered by the positive effects that volunteering causes.
