Husbands love is an action word, Apostle John wrote in one of his letters, let us not love with words or, tongues, but with actions and in truth, (1 John 3:18). Most times in the homes sacrificial action is missing ask yourself when was the last time you gave up something valued for your wife like a fishing trip, or your favorite game on TV. Sometimes you need to give up something so that you can spend some quality time with your wife so that she can see your love. Serving your wife and being the head of your house don’t mean that you are to Lord over her life. Christ is our example for this type of leadership. Jesus didn’t just talk about being a servant he also demonstrated being a servant when he washed the feet of his disciples. Jesus didn’t …show more content…
Leadership plainly means to guide and influence his family. Therefore a Christian husband should be a great example and teach his family the way of the Lord. The Lord doesn’t give a husband power to rule over his wife; instead he should impact his wife and family with the word of God. Husbands should demonstrate with their voice and their effort, behavior and characteristics that bring glory to God and value to their spouse and family. When the husband produce good spiritual fruits based on the bible he is strong, and confident that he’s leading his family in the way of the Lord. Husbands, you are the thermostat, you control the temperature. Your wife is the thermometer; she’ll let you know exactly what it reads. Most time a wife knows exactly what’s going on with her husband, she can tell by the look on his face, because she is his mirror. Husbands make it a habit to pray with your wife and your family, always pray together as a family because a family that prays together stays together. If there’s no spiritual relationship in the home, there won’t be a great relationship in the marriage. Once you are married it’s no more singular relationship with God because the both of you have become “one flesh”. God will not treat you apart from her, simple fact he don’t see two people any more. He sees you as one flesh. Ephesians 5:25 says Husbands love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her, to make her holy, cleansing her in the washing of water by the power of his word. He did this to present the Church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things but holy and blameless. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For No one ever hates his own flesh, but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the Church, since we are members of His body. For this
1 Prescription for mutual submission as it relates to a wife’s submission (5:21-22, 24, 33) http://cbmw.org/book-reviews/biblical-interpretation/fifty-crucial-questions-mutual-submission/
This scripture has always been a model for as I try to presentation my time, talent and service to others. Ephesian 5:22 says, “ 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. This is a (imperative). Teaching 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither ndeed can be.8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.we are not condemned when we are in Christ”.
Defying stereotypes and misconceptions in today's day and time is as hard as making it to every church service every Sunday. In today's world stereotypes and misconceptions are the driving force behind how people or a group of people are perceived. Stereotypes are a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. Stereotypes often happen due to a people judging and making preconceived notions about someone or some group of people. As for a misconception its a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding. Misconceptions are a formed from having stereotypes, but is incorrect because it is based on untruths. Life for a pastors wife is nowhere near perfect, like the stereotypes and misconceptions suggest.
Who should lead and who should follow? Does it even matter? Such questions are expanded upon the further one reads into this book. Wilmeth, sticking to the biblical pattern, is of the persuasion that the mother belongs in the home. As it would seem, she is well suited for the task. Many problems often occur withing a home when the mother leaves her duty to her children and decides to pursue some other work. There has been no small stir concerning this either. Many women today would gladly trade what they perceive to be a “lowly” role for one that seemingly possesses more glamor or pomp. The author, while staying within the confines of scripture, brings to light the importance of what many call “the hand that rocks the cradle”. He even goes as far as to reference such a quote explicitly. Obviously his point in doing so is to remind those of the fairer sex that women play a vastly important role alongside men, and not above them. This is, after all, the intent of God above, and not of man
The ideas of the reformation thinkers on the roles of husband and wife differ in some ways to the ideas of their roles today. In the eyes of some the man is still the head of the household. More so the husband is considered to be a figure head in today's family. The man is seen to have the power in a relationship but in reality the power of both husband and wife is for the most part equal. In some instances the woman is considered to have more say or power over the family. In present times more women are going out into the job fields and making as much as if not more money then their husbands. In this essence the roles of husband and wife have switched since that of the reformation era. Today what makes a bad husband is much the same as it was in the reformation era.
In all the general aspects of this particular term one would conclude that, “Leadership” embodies different characteristics, goals, rules, and standards for different positions in society. In the text, Great Leader, Great Teacher: Recovering the Biblical Vision for Leaders, author Gary Bredfeldt states, “The nature of leadership differs from situation to situation. What is required of a leader on the battlefield is quite different from what is required on the ball field or mission field. Leadership is not a one-size-fits-all formula.” This bold statement makes minds take a deeper look at the general definition of leadership and how each individual can theoretically determine what that is for their lives. In addition, from a Christian Worldview perspective what attributes in which the Scripture provides on servitude can be applicable and relevant to becoming a successful leader.
...lled me to submit to that supervisor. Jesus empowered his disciples to perform tasks and go out and fulfill their calling.
Reading Reflection: Christian Leadership Essentials Summary When it comes to leading people, it becomes a laborious task. It takes a unique individual to be able to lead people. As a leader, you will encounter many obstacles, and a person must be able to cope with these obstacles and be able to keep a level head so that you can get things going back in the right direction.
“Religious intermarriage as it reflects interaction in an open society is a gauge of changing social structures and norms. The extent to which interfaith marriage is possible and the degree of social and religious institutions' acceptance of interfaith couples indicate the breadth and depth of such changes.”
Introduction In the 1983 _Code of Canon Law_, canon 1055 §2 states very clearly that a valid marriage between two baptized individuals is always a sacrament: “For this reason, a valid matrimonial contract cannot exist between the baptized without it being by that that fact a sacrament.” In “Faith, Contract, and Sacrament in Christian Marriage: A Theological Approach,” Michael Lawler takes issue with this position. He argues that it is not supported by the theological tradition of the Church and argues that without an active, personal Christian faith the sacrament of matrimony is not received, even if a valid rite is celebrated by two baptized persons. He states “The active faith of the participants is an essential prerequisite not just for
Explain how Christian ethical teachings influence the lives of adherents in Australia: Ethics is a system of morals or what is and right and wrong. ' Christian ethics are based upon beliefs about God's relationship with the world and his people' (Bulmer & Doret) and it is through this and the Christian's definition of how to find this relationship that ethics are created. Ethics are an important guide to a Christian, these ethics give them purpose and value to life. This influential guide is useful when issues are difficult to agree upon or know exactly how to handle them. Issues such as capital punishment and euthanasia and suicide are both prime examples of this, with Christian’s looking to God, his scriptures and his teachings for the answers
This reaction paper will be on pairing number four. We watched a total of two videos for this pairing: Video one was called Marriage and Family, and video number two was called Family and Household. Both of these videos had my complete attention, as did the class discussions. I found this pairing to be the greatest attention-grabber so far. A few of the key topics that I was the utmost engaged in and would like to react to in this paper would happen to be, dowry verse bride price, the economics between a man and women in a marriage, and lastly, polygamy in marriages throughout other cultures.
"Wives be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord." I think that women including myself often have trouble accepting this verse. In my family my father took this as whatever he decided, that was how it was going to be period. My mother really struggled with my father making decisions based on what he thought and hardly gave any validity to my mother's ideas and feelings. Consequently, my parents where divorced when I was younger because of them fighting over who made the final judgment and other issues. After many years and many counseling sessions my mother and my father realized that being the head of the household did not mean whatever my father decided was how it was going to be. My parents both studied the Bible more closely to discover the real truth behind God's words.
The biblical leadership applies to having a relationship with the community and people. When Paul described his relationship to the Thessalonians: “Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us” (1 Thessalonians 2:8). Lastly is the characteristic of Christ, where a leader should guide his power and leadership in the name of God and that all of their accomplishments come from a greater power and that is the power of Christ. Leadership and the Bible show that leaders should commemorate their
Final Essay: My Pastoral Theology of Marriage My pastoral theology of marriage is that it is a human covenant made between two people (man and woman). Marriage should be rooted in, and sustained through, the love of God, love of your spouse and commitment to your spouse. Covenants are how God related to humanity throughout the biblical history.
