Everything is going to be okay. Life is going to hit hard, but you have to get up and keep going. Do not ever give up. Although you may feel like your world if falling apart, things will get better. I know the saying “it gets better” is cliche, but things thrully do get better if you continue to work hard. Life if like a roller coaster, there will be bad times and good times. There will be times where you fail and times when you succeed. In the grand scheme of things, most failures will not make a significant negative impact on the future. One bad grade will not completely ruin your future. Learn from these mistakes and strive to improve. Refrain from stressing over the little mistakes. You are your own worst enemy, so learn to love yourself.

Olivo 5 Julian Olivo Mr. Wiglesworth ELA Block 1 3-7-2016 Critical Issues of Failing Students in America How many students are reported to be failing in America? According to the U.S. Department of Education (2015), there are about 50 million students across America and 7,000 of them drop out of school each day as a result of academic lag. Moreover, students all over America are failing, thanks to the current federal, state, and local systems. In their high school years, many students begin or continue to fail their classes, and the United States Department of Education needs to do something about it. The nation needs to rebuild the federal, state, and local support systems for failing students.
It has come to my attention that my grade is pretty low and can use some improvement; however there are some reasons to why my grade shouldn't be this low. I feel as if i have worked hard enough to not have the grade that I received. I am writing this letter in hopes that we may negotiate 10 extra points is my argument is valid.
Why should we abandon letter grading when for so many years it has worked? Kids today need a challenge. In my opinion I believe that we should keep letter grades, because for me as a student it pushes me to do the best I can, instead of doing the least amount of work to pass. With letter based grading we see differences in students, we see strengths and weaknesses and teachers can use that to help individual students succeed in school. Some students in this era of schooling are pushed by grades, it comes as a challenge to them, there are kids in our schools who grow up with little money, who use schooling to get into college, without the challenge of getting good grades, and a high gpa, students would stop putting in effort, and only do work
There is a wrong and right way to handle a bad report card. Almost everyone has had a bad grade on their report card. When someone sees that grade, usually they began to stress out. One of the countless thoughts going through their head is "how am I going to show this to mom or dad?" When they were finally do, they can either overreact or be understanding, encouraging the child could help them excel. Children should never have to fear the wrath of either parent, due to bad grades, with that said if parents knew how to react to bad or even satisfactory grades, the child could continue to strive.
My aunt always told me that if you do it right the first time you will never have to do or see an assignment or grade over again. But guess what I didn’t do, I didn’t listen to her and I ended up failing my freshman year and I had to do summer school. You shouldn’t ever slack off in school no matter what grade you’re in because it can decide your future.
If you know you are going to fail at something, you should still try because you may succeed. For example, I took AP Human Geography last year and I scored a 5 on the AP exam, which is the highest possible score you can make. Initially, I wasn’t going to take that class freshman year because I was pretty sure I couldn’t handle it and would score badly on the AP exam. If I hadn’t taken the class due to my assumption of failure, I would have never gotten any score, let alone a 5 on the exam. My first few attempts to survive in the class involved lots of struggling to obtain a stable grade. Then I gradually began to improve and remembered how important grades are to me. When it came time for the results at the end of the year, I had an excellent score throughout the whole year in the class and the highest possible score on an AP exam. This experience led me to take more AP classes and exams in the future.
Negative outcomes can exceed farther than just failing a class. A student might think school is boring, so then they tend to mentally slack, students have made a slang term for slacking known as “senioritis.” Once a student mentally slacks their grades start to reflect it, leading to a lower GPA. Low GPAs can make it difficult to make it into college. College educations make a huge difference versus someone who does not have a college education. Companies will prefer an education hands down every time. With lots of companies turning someone down, they will just be a floater, floating from job to job.
In many cases, grades are often viewed as destructive or constructive. Many will argue for one of those viewpoints depending on their personal experiences and opinions. However, it is hard to argue that grades have no effect on a person. Grades influence the way a person thinks of himself/herself. Although some will argue that grades are beneficial and motivate, or teach, students to aim for the best, grades are harmful to a student’s mentality and create limitations on creativity and the desire to learn.
The importance of grades varies depending on your academic and career goals. Grades are a way to measure students’ performance in school, but not the defining way to measure your future success in life. While grades do not completely measure a person’s capabilities or skills, they are one of the few methods used to measure academic knowledge and performance. This measurement will surely affect future academic opportunities and career options. Read more to know the importance of grades in high school, college, and real life.
A student should not be worried with grades or fear any grading approach. Students must be satisfied with any grade received although it is not the highest among the group. It may be devastating for a student to receive a failing grade especially if that individual is positive to receive a high mark. Most people think that grades are what students are, but it is not. Students should come to school with the eagerness coupled with enthusiasm to learn and not for the sake of grades or attendance in order to pass with simplicity (Marquez, 2013).
