Thank you so much for allowing me to be one of Babbitt Men’s Club Golf Scholarship winners at the 2016 Graduation Banquet. I have been enjoying school, learning advanced and intriguing new information at Mesabi Range college, and meeting new people. I plan to attend Mesabi Range College for another year; during this year I will be obtaining an LPN diploma to become a Practical Nurse, having graduated this Spring with my Associates Degree. One of the prerequisites for this program is acquiring a CNA certificate; a nurse’s assistant certificate. This course is 4 credits and I will be taking it in the Summer semester. I plan on using the money from the Babbitt Men’s Club Scholarship to pay for this class, taking the first step towards my career
in nursing. After becoming an LPN I will attend school to become a Registered Professional Nurse. My end goal is to attend the college of St. Scholastica and become a Nurse Practitioner. This program, at St. Scholastica, allows you to become a Doctor of Nursing in a few select fields. Two of my main choices are Adult Gerontology and Family Practice. Either choice I make, I know I will help better people’s lives. Scholarships allow students to further their education and also take off some of the weight and stress that paying for college brings upon an individual. Once I’ve completed graduate school and have establish myself in said chosen career, I hope to donate money and become a part of a scholarship committee, comparable to the Babbitt Men’s Club Committee, to help students who wish to further their education just like me and so many before me. Once again thank you for granting me the Babbitt Men’s Club Golf Scholarship, I plan to put the money towards my education in Nursing and will continue to maintain good grades and advance my education for many more years to come.
As a new nurse that was approaching my first anniversary of employment, I made the very tough decision to return to school to obtain my BSN. I began the RN-BSN program with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in August of 2015. My life was already very busy, along with having two children, a husband, and reentering the workforce in a new field, I decided that taking one course at a time would work best for my busy schedule. My focus was to take as many classes as possible, without breaks by following the start dates with the UTA program. There were pre-requisite classes from other schools that I overlapped with the RN-BSN classes because I wanted to complete the program as quickly as possible.
My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. I have the personal determination to face the challenges and rigors of nursing school. With hard work, perseverance, and determination I believe I have the essential character to be successful as a nursing student and an excellent quality nurse in the near future. A degree in nursing paves ways for other degrees to emerge especially for those interested in furthering their education in health care. I am committed to continue to pursed advanced degree in nursing ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner. . In the next five to ten years from now, I want to write articles and books about nursing and healthcare related. Therefore, I believe that if I improve myself further positively, I will grow from strength to strength and one day my paper will be read in one of the prestigious newsletters, journals, and textbooks. I know the sky is my starting
“Nurses don’t wait until October to celebrate Make a Difference Day — they make a difference every day”, explains an unknown author. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.
After being nominated for the Frank W. Buckely Scholarship Application, I can honestly say I am more honored. When I began my journey at Texas A&M University-Commerce I was lost. I randomly chose Journalism as my major and had no idea what exactly I was getting into.
Upon being accepted at the Georgia Military College, I determined that I would spend my two years retaining everything I could in order to successfully become a registered nurse. Not only does getting my associates degree in Science and Pre-Nursing get all of my prerequisites out of the way, it is preparing me for my further education afterwards. In high school, every career goal test and
In order to develop myself to full potential, Coppin State University in its prestigious Accelerated Nursing program will pave the way for me to realize this goal. Considering my experience in emergency care, and medication knowledge pursuing BSN in Nursing will mold me into a well-rounded health care professional to the community, military and myself. My overall knowledge will be expanded through the professional experience gained from the tract record of Coppin State university school of Nursing. This will not only prepare me to be a brilliant nurse but it will also propel me into new horizons of working abroad under military missions and reaching out to the poor. I currently speak three languages English, French, Afrikan and a little Greek which is diversifies my services to a broad range of patients.
Contemplating on the big responsibility that nurses will have to fulfill in the future, I see myself in a good position. I said that because I love the field and want to do it until I retired God’s willing. It is not impossible to achieve the recommendations on increasing the proportion of nurses with a BSN by 2020. The field of nursing is very fulfilling and anyone who loves people and wants to serve can be a great nurse. I know now I can help a lot to continue their education by being the example of someone who had many obstacles to overcome. Now a month away from receiving her BSN. I had a love in my heart to do more after I became PCA and worked at a nursing home. I took the necessary steps from being a PCA to a BSN. However from the beginning the ride was not easy. I remember like yesterday, when I first got to San Antonio, Texas looking for a better life for my family. I could barely speak English and I had 4 young children. We only had one car so I had to wait for my husband so I could go to school at night to get my GED after I finish taking care of the kids, cleaning and cooking. With this degree I

In the summer semester if 2015, I begin taking courses at Old Dominion University’s RN>BSN program. I originally enrolled in the program because I was aware that obtaining a bachelor’s degree would soon become a requirement at the many local hospitals in my area. As a new nursing graduate I was oblivious to what benefits of having a bachelor’s degree could offer. I was going to school because I had to not because I wanted to. While taking courses I had hopes of accomplishing a new found knowledge of what it means to be a nurse and learn the career pathways that lay ahead of me. The information that I have learned has definitely changed what my outlook was and what goals I want to achieve as a registered nurse. I plan
I have used my time at PHS to take rigorous courses that will prepare me for college life. Taking advantage of multiple AP level classes, I have learned to tackle my studies and extracurriculars while still living a balanced lifestyle. I have achieved credit for many colleges classes through the AP and dual credit classes that PHS offers. Also, specifically within my course of study, Prosper High School has given me many opportunities to prepare for a career in medicine. Not only have I gained knowledge, but I have gained experience from taking two of Prosper’s practicum classes. My junior year I became a Certified Nursing Assistant, spending many clinical hours in the mornings learning as a student at Settler’s Ridge Nursing Home in Celina,
When school starts in August, I will be a full time student at SCTCC. I am so excited to be starting the Practical Nursing program to further my education and career as a nurse. I have been wanting to go back to school for quite some time but I have always found excuses not to. Well I finally put my foot down and told myself you are doing this, because it is not going to get any easier the longer you wait. I have been out of school for more than eleven years and finally decided to come back to better the want to show my daughter that hard work and dedication will pay off. I have been working really hard to get accepted into the Practical Nursing program, and it finally happened.
