-anonymous. This quote is my favorite quote of all time. I am applying for this scholarship simply because nothing can bring that feeling of freedom except aviation. But it's a certain freedom, unlike anything else. I hope to prove to you in this essay simply that I would be an amazing candidate for this once in a lifetime opportunity. In my family, there are no pilots. Not my mother, father, or anyone else. This is a major setback for me as an aspiring pilot. My best friend works at the University of Dubuque in the aviation department. He gets all sorts of benefits as far as aviation opportunities go. His dad has free vouchers to give to his family for time in an aircraft. That gives him a greater chance of becoming the pilot he wants to be. With this scholarship I would plan to immediately enroll in an aviation school. I plan to go into a career as a corporate pilot first, then as a commercial pilot. I have mapped my career path from 8th grade on, specifically deciding on classes to take in high school that would benefit a future career as a pilot. …show more content…

It is in relation to the University of Dubuque Aviation Department. At the end of the school year, everyone who was nominated for the program chooses their courses. This program runs from third to seventh grade. In fifth grade however, a new class is available, Aviation I. In sixth grade Aviation II, and in seventh grade, Aviation III. It is a week long program that focuses on the fundamentals of flying. It starts on a Monday and the classes end on a Thursday. On Friday though, you fly. My total flight distance for all of my flights added up to about 90
