Gleenia Ford The following career I have chosen describes who I am, where I want to go, and what I want to accomplish in the near future. Child Protective Service: Investigates and prevent in cases of a child abuse or neglect. They respond to complaints from law enforcement, day care, schools, etc. They work with parents and other social service agencies to keep the child away from harm and hurt. You need to be able to communicate effectivly with the child and their parent to be able to handle hard situations, and take the time out to investigate the home, inspect the living conditions, and sometimes having to remove the child from the situation at hand. This all may involve counseling and educating parents, and help come up with plans so that the child can live a better life. In order to do that you may need to continue to monitor the situation until it is resolved. If that doesn’t work the CPS workers may remove the abused child/children from …show more content…
I've cared for people and am a good observer when it comes to looking out for problems and conflicts. That's why I feel as though I'd be good in this field to help out children who need it the most, because I'm the type of person who can detect when something's wrong and I put my whole heart into something that is important to myself and the child in need. I've weighed the pro’s (helping out children, getting them in a safer environment, and doing what's best for the parent) and the cons (not being able to help everyone, and being put in dangerous situations) of this field and determined that the pros outweigh the cons that kids in need are so important I'm willing to put whatever on the line to help out whenever and wherever. This job takes a lot. You have to put all into it, and that's the type of person I am. I put my all into the things I do and am willing to sit down all night if need be to come up with a situation to help those who need

By giving them knowledge that they didn’t know before and seeing them progress, is truly a rewarding experience. The second reason for choosing the profession is the enjoyment I get in working with the parents to help them recognise the strengths their children have. I also enjoy seeing how happy and satisfied the parents are when they know that they are leaving their kids in good hands and that their kids will be properly tended to.
I have always been interested in working with children. Becoming a teacher has always been a potential career path for me; however, I recently discovered the position of a child life specialist which has further broadened my interest for a future career. Although they are not educators in school, they are extremely important since they are the educators for children and their families to help overcome difficult and/or challenging life events. As a child life specialist I will be teaching children and families in hospitals how to cope with their diagnoses, how a surgery day will go, how certain lifestyles will have to change, and much more.
Finding your calling in life can be one of the hardest things to do, for some it is obvious from a young age on what you want to do. For example, my mom has gone on a spree of jobs in her life and she has only recently found something that she actually wants to do. My dad on the other hand knew from a young age what he wanted to do, he liked to tinker and straight after he got out of highschool he knew that he wanted to be a mechanic, and he has stuck with that career path for more than 30 years now. I am currently undecided on what I want to do for the rest of my life, however one of the careers that I am looking at is a law enforcement officer.
There are many different career fields you can go into as a social worker: from mental health, drug and alcohol abuse all the way to child welfare. Child welfare is my primary target when I become a social worker. I feel that I will have the biggest impact if I help the kids out that will be creating our future world. If I can help the kids of the next generation then maybe my influence will help more than just those few kids I see every day. Plus ever since I can remember people told me I need to be doing a job that helps children. I want to be able to make a difference in the community, and if I can help the kids, then I know I’ll be helping the community. Being a student at Wilmington College will help me fulfill these values and skills, but the thing that
It’s undoubtedly complex and can take someone strong and passionate, with all their good intentions, and completely break them down and burn them out. Entering this field requires a Human Services worker to not only be prepared for all that it includes, but to be fully educated in the accepted and most effective best practices to produce superior results for the child and their family. This paper will discuss the career choice of a Child Protective Service (CPS) worker and the standard best practices implemented in this
If I was to become a probation officer, one thing I would want to be is efficient, and successful. There would be several things I would try to focalize my attention on; supervision in communities, and its importance. Probation officers have very complex, and hard job; but if done with the right intentions, and the will to help people you can help change people’s lives.
The parents are going to be mad for the intrusion in their lives, and the children might resent them for their role in their new struggles. They might be heroes, but they better not expect any thank-you cards, because they are often not going to get that. They have to be prepared to look into a child’s face and accept their hatred as a payment for their services. The job itself is already emotionally taxing, but adding a victim who is mad for your intervention takes everything to the next
