The leadership predominant in the chronology of the direction of the century in health care organizations has been the Complementary Leadership. The supplemental administration is sub divided into Authentic Leadership Model and Challenge Leadership Model. These models are used as a frame of reference in health care organizations, integrate their philosophy, style, and behaviors.
The model of Authentic Leadership is one of the frameworks that emphasizes the relationships between leaders and followers and focuses on the potential of self-development of leaders (Marshall & Broome, 2017, p.146). These models are perceived and integrated in the 21st century so that health care organizations can adopt an excellent functioning towards the care of the patient. For the health care team to achieve success between the leader and the followers, they must integrate these two models. Today in the hospital where I work is one of the best in the western area of Puerto Rico, in the service centralized in the patient. The same patients express it well, and the nurses feel satisfied in providing a care of excellence. Describing the application, we cannot fail to mention the competencies of the leadership. Within the 21st century, leaders' competencies in health organizations, these leaders, possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary for productivity, accuracy, and efficiency. Health Leadership Competency Model (NCHL, 2015), mentioned three domains for the leadership: transformation competencies, Execution competencies, and People competencies.
