It is in essence the level of which humans are engaged with the outside world. It is also characterized by individual’s excitability, sociability, talkativeness, assertiveness and high amounts of emotional expressiveness. On the other hand introversion is opposite of extraversion where individual tends more to value time to himself rather than the outside world. The big five segments introverts as people who score low in extraversion. They are characterized by low social engagement and a more reserved view of social situation. They tend to think more before speaking and are very analytic in terms of problems. In a situation where an individual is faced with a problem an extrovert may come up with a solution very fast whereas an introvert likes to take his/her time and use analytical skills to think through the situation before responding. Many times introverts are assumed as shy people by extroverts. This is not true because while they enjoy alone time rather than social situations, they do not fear social encounters like shy

Over time, some aspects of personality change, whereas others remain stable. For example according to Costa and McCrae 's study on adult personality, in early adulthood, neuroticism decreases, openness to experience increases and in middle adulthood agreeableness increases.

Recognized as a starting point, it confirms our strengths and weaknesses, assists in self-reflection, supports decision-making, enhances interaction with others, and designates where we reside along the personality spectrum. The following will explore my own personality preference, an explanation of my polar opposite persona, and the investigation into life situations and strategies.
Recently I concluded “The Big Five Personality Test” in order to examine my personality traits and my ability to work in a team. This report will study how each individual trait influences my ability to and how I work in teams. The test examined five key traits; Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. The test has provided me with percentiles for each trait which identifies my personality.
Besides that, OB can serve managers, leaders and customers’ purposes. To begin with managers who have to expand their information about the attitude and group’s behavior to improve the organization work environment and to create a business plan to have a successful organization. First of all, managers can build a better workplace by recognizing the challenges that face any organizations because of some strategies that used in business environment. For example, one of the challenges are that having a cultural diversity in organization, so managers can build the organization with different cultures which help to encourage employee to do their job well and communicate with others in appropriate way. Secondly, managers can measure the effectiveness and efficiency; also, they can identify the strength and weakness of the organization. According to national institutes of health, Organizational effectiveness is about each individual doing everything they know how to do and doing it well (NIH, 2004). Moreover, OB offers ways that provide ways in how managers can trust their employees’ potential and using a reward system to enhance employees’ performance. OB is helping the managers on providing some strategies such as indentifying problems by searching and gathering information to have an accurate decision.

Managers seem to inherit a strong trust in the authority of personality traits to forecast behavior at the work area. If managers thought that situations resolute behavior, they would hire individuals almost at random and assemble the situation correctly. But the employee selection procedure in most establishments places a great deal of importance on how applicants achieve in interviews and on examine through which the personality of a person can be achieved and the task distribution can be much easy varying upon the type of personality (Robbins, Odendaal and Roodt, 2001)
Discussed below are different researchers’ arguments and explanations on how personality predicts employee performance. This essay will explore both negative and positive ways in which personality can predict the performance, as well as explaining what personality is. Past research has “demonstrated that personality constructs are associated with work performance, with some traits like conscientiousness predicting success around jobs. Other linked with specific occupations e.g. extraversion correlates with success in sales and management as well as training performance supporting”, (Barrick et al., 2002, 87: p.43).
Allport defines personality as ‘the dynamic organisation within the individual of those psychological systems that determine his unique adjustment to his environment’ (Allport, 1937). An individual’s unique personality traits and attributes are a powerful indicator of how he/she will interact with the work environment. The difference between average and outstanding employees can often be solely personality related. As the employee is the most valuable asset to the company, ‘selecting the right employee during the process is critical’ (Carbery and Cross, 2013, pp. 41-53)
From Childhood, we grew up with a dream to become a respectable person and hold a responsible position in a prestigious firm. To me, I always dreamt of holding a managerial positions handling people and driving the Organization. I started understanding the in and out of becoming a Manager after enrolling in Engineering Management Graduate program, especially Organizational Behavior.
An individual’s personality is the basis of who they are and generates how they react to and behave in different situations. Personality testing is used in workplaces to identify whom to hire, promote and even put into teams. Personality testing is efficient in being able to determine which employees will perform best in certain roles, and this can remove some stress from employers. Personal testing has been shown to help improve the quality of employees who are in the workplace. The method of assessing personalities that will be examined in this essay is the Big Five taxonomy method. The two main questionnaires, which are used to determine these traits, are the Sixteen Personality Factor (16PF) Questionnaire and the NEO personality test. A participant’s results from a personality survey will be analysed to determine what their results mean for current and future workplace behaviour. Finally, this essay will review a case study and it will be explained why personality testing should be used in the workplace and what other work contexts these tests can take place in.
Personality traits can be manifested as strengths or weaknesses depending on the situation, and personality tests can help individuals maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses within the organizational structure. Organizational behavior is critical to organizational effectiveness, and these tests can also point individuals toward certain careers or organizations that are good fits.
