Portfolio Reflection Science #2
My Second Assignment that I want to share with you is DNA, which is how is it build. My teacher Mr.Moreno asked us to go to the Gizmos website to get the information necessary to complete the assignment. In addition to reading the material, there were assessment questions that I had to answer. The expectation was for us to learn how DNA could replicate from the enzyme. The point of this assignment was to see how how DNA makes a copy of itself and how it allows living things to grow and reproduce. All I had to do to receive an “A” was to follow the instructions given by Mr.Moreno, Which were to answer all questions and submit them on time.
My process in completing this assignment was to start by

The Accounting Principles II portfolio project helped me become familiar with accounting practices used to complete routine financial tasks. This course helped me learn how to complete routine business transactions, discover and explain financial issues in companies and create and manage ledgers for employers. The Accounting Principles II portfolio project taught me how to manage companies’ journals, income statements, cash flow statements and closing statements in ledgers. The Bryant Stratton Online college program outcomes helped me learn about merchandising laws, rules and approaches used in corporations. These outcomes helped me learn and distinguish practices used to create, track and manage product inventories when I am completing tasks
"The discovery of the structure by Crick and Watson, with all its biological implications, has been one of the major scientific events of this century." (Bragg, The Double Helix, p1) In the story of The Double Helix, James Watson tells of the road that led to the discovery of life's basic building block-DNA. This autobiography gives insight into science and the workings within a professional research laboratory that few members of society will ever be able to experience. It also gives the reader an idea of the reality of life for one scientist and how he struggled with the problem of DNA. However, the author's style is marked by his lack of objectivity and inclusion of many biased opinions and personal prejudices.
In my personal portfolio I managed to make a total profit of $1,300.02 of 7 weeks. I saw my biggest profits come from my 5 shares and the most impressive share was the A2 milk Company (A2M) whose value increased by 31.1% over just 7 weeks. Whilst my worst Share being Origin Energy (ORG) which went down 4.44%. In all my shares alone I managed to profit a total of 2776.5. However my least profitable Investment were the Precious Metals as I lost a $1554.19, which is a considerable amount. I found that I bought the Precious Metals at a high price then they ultimately dropped, precious metals also happened to fluctuate a lot over the weeks.
America has evolved over the centuries, from a British colony to an international powerhouse. At one point, the U.S was considered the greatest country in the world. America always found solutions to problems, and tried to help make peace throughout the world, but now that is up to debate. Why? The answer is simple, the government. The dishonesty and bad decisions have resulted in America’s title as a superpower to waver. The government is a growing problem that may lead to the demise of America by negatively affecting political, social, and economic issues in the country.
Your final portfolio will highlight your writing skills in a variety of rhetorical contexts. You should include the following:
A professional writing portfolio is a very useful tool for a writer. It helps the writer prepare well for their entry into the professional world. A portfolio also allows the writer to be more organized with their work. A website, “Rhetoric and Writing”, talks about the importance of having a Professional Writing Portfolio. It discusses how many professionals/superiors will use a portfolio to assess a writer's aptitudes and skills. The site also discusses how portfolios are important for job searchers because they are more personal, and much more insightful, and therefore a better way for employers to evaluate interviewees than a regular resume. (Rhetoric) It provides an exhibition of skill and organized set of the writer's work. Not only are portfolios helpful in finding a career but they can also prove to be a great source for furthering one, as they are perfectly suited for professional publication.
When the task of creating a film trailer was first put to us, I had
Simply put, DNA contains the instructions needed for an organism to develop, survive, and reproduce. The discovery and use of DNA has seen many changes and made great progress over many years. James Watson was a pioneer molecular biologist who is credited, along with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins, with discovering the double helix structure of the DNA molecule. The three won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1962 for their work (Bagley, 2013). Scientists use the term “double helix” to describe DNA’s winding, two-stranded chemical structure.
As I was completing my portfolio and polishing everything, I realized that I could learn a lesson or more for my own life out of every single book that I read, whether it related to my friendships, future legal career, romantic relationships, past mistakes, view on life, and more. For instance, in my reading journals, I focused on coming of age and how we realize the consequences of short versus long term benefits, life’s uncertainty and how we need to learn how to embrace it’s own “floating bridge,” or how the fervent quest for prestige and social status can lead to losing one’s value and happiness.
I kept the mind-set of achieving audio/visual harmony that would seamlessly integrate into the film. I chose this movie over the others because I hadn’t previously done any sort of animation sound design before and wanted to broaden my range of skill.
“Assessment is the process of identifying, gathering and interpreting information about students’ learning. The central purpose of assessment is to provide information on student achievement and progress and set the direction for ongoing teaching and learning” (NSW Department of Education and Training, 2007, p.1). I believe an assessment strategy which best encapsulates this understanding of assessment is the portfolio. Specifically, a process portfolio provides a wealth of information about a student’s progress in literacy and not only allows a teacher to assess the learning that has taken place but also helps them to identify the areas in need of improvement. Additionally, the crucial element of the student’s self-assessment and self-reflection in the process of creating the portfolio also allows both the teacher and the student to understand the progress, strengths and weaknesses of their writing.
Perhaps the most prominent form of alternative assessment in use today is the student portfolio. A portfolio can be described as a “purposeful collection of student work that exhibits the student’s efforts, progress, and achievements in one or more areas of the curriculum.” Key elements of the portfolio include evidence of students’ choosing the contents of their own portfolio, specific criteria for the selection and assessment of student work, and clear evidence that the student has reflected on his or her work (Chriest & Maher, n.d.). Portfolios have been proven an effective means of student assessment in many areas of schooling, from preschool all the way through post-graduate work. Portfolio assessment has also been rendered effective in many business settings to determine the value of an employee.
Assessment is one of those words that have multiple meanings, but for this purpose, it is a process that evaluates what the learner knows, understand and how they utilized the obtained knowledge. Assessment can be formative or summative. Formative assessments are those evaluations that are administered at the beginning or during the program. However, this form of testing allows for the monitoring of learning progress during instruction. Summative, on the other hand, is of a comprehensive nature and is given at the end of a course or unit of instruction. This form of assessment is used to evaluate mastery or/and assign grades. Also, assessment is not limited to the school environment; it is utilized in the professional arena as well.
