We live in an age of technology. Like it or not, technology is quickly changing the way people access information, communicate, and learn. So with this new tool in just about everyone’s hands, why shouldn’t schools use technology to provide better education to students'? Schools should keep in mind the type of technology, the future of human interactions, and the high quality of learning provided by tech. The world is ever becoming smaller thanks to technology.
We as a global community are approaching a fully technological world. We have access to information just in the palms of our hands which consequently, leads to new learning methods. Students like me who thrive in the age of technology cannot fathom going to a school before a time where you can shoot a quick email. With Technology, learning has been all to new measures not only in the school I attend but all over the world. However not all technology is created equal. Developed countries reap the most benefits when it comes technology, with developing countries often playing catch up. With the United States’ low amount of high schools allowing laptops and tablets in school, the high schools should allow laptops and tablets to be used to benefit students, because the “trend of integrating technology into education will definitely increase” (Wang). I am a high school student, and in the classes that I am allowed my laptop and tablet, I feel like it has helped me more than not having one. In the future, the high schools of the United States should not lag behind Asian countries with education, but surpass them.

The failure of technology to be a remedy for all educational woes as seen by Atwell, however, is a Strawman. While some schools may hand out a laptop, iPad or iPod to every student (Wong ¶ 4, Davidson ¶ 14) the act of providing technology to students is not the same as teaching the student how to successfully use that technology in an academic capacity.
