Over the past four years the band program has been the biggest part of my life. It has given me so many opportunities through performing, arranging, competing, and just becoming a better musician as a whole. Coming into a band as a freshman is a very daunting task. All the upperclassmen in the band are better and at times can be a little harsh. But at the same time those upperclassmen become your first friends in the horrific world that is being a freshman in high school. However, that severity is what pushed me to work hard and become a leader in our band. This band program pushes everyone to work their hardest to achieve a common goal, performing to the best of our ability. There are other programs within the school that need teamwork; however, in most of those groups, only a few are a real part of the team. Rodgers I’ve been able to set high goals and through immense amount of practice been able to achieve those goals. Since sophomore year, I have been involved in many of these PMEA festivals at the district and regional level, including Band, Jazz, and Orchestra. Finally, after years of hard work, I was rewarded with the amazing opportunity to participate in the PMEA All-State Festival. I would recommend to anyone that’s willing to put in the effort to try out for PMEA Ensembles because not only is it a great musical experience but it’s also a way to compete against and make friends with other advanced level musicians from other
