Over the past four years the band program has been the biggest part of my life. It has given me so many opportunities through performing, arranging, competing, and just becoming a better musician as a whole. Coming into a band as a freshman is a very daunting task. All the upperclassmen in the band are better and at times can be a little harsh. But at the same time those upperclassmen become your first friends in the horrific world that is being a freshman in high school. However, that severity is what pushed me to work hard and become a leader in our band. This band program pushes everyone to work their hardest to achieve a common goal, performing to the best of our ability. There are other programs within the school that need teamwork; however, in most of those groups, only a few are a real part of the team. In band everybody makes a difference they either build to the sound or take away from it that’s why everybody must do their best to perform at a high level. …show more content…
Rodgers I’ve been able to set high goals and through immense amount of practice been able to achieve those goals. Since sophomore year, I have been involved in many of these PMEA festivals at the district and regional level, including Band, Jazz, and Orchestra. Finally, after years of hard work, I was rewarded with the amazing opportunity to participate in the PMEA All-State Festival. I would recommend to anyone that’s willing to put in the effort to try out for PMEA Ensembles because not only is it a great musical experience but it’s also a way to compete against and make friends with other advanced level musicians from other
Band is family. When your student walks onto campus, he or she is instantly adopted into the strongest society on campus. They will be spending their school days among the top achievers on campus, with fellow students who look out for one another and steer each other away from trouble instead of towards it. Teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers watch over all the kids as if they were their own.
To conclude, I am preparing for my band final right now. This is, for me, the scariest time of year, because I always get extremely nervous. I am trying to play in front of as many people as possible in order to reduce my nerves. I am also constantly recording myself to make sure that my notes are in tune, and my scales are played correctly. Hopefully, all my preparation pays off, because during our last final, I had played less than stellar, and I hope that I can improve and learn from that experience. In conclusion, my first year of band has taught me that in order to succeed, you need to to work hard and practice. Band has been a fun and learning experience, and I have learned that I have to be responsible and that I need to continue to work hard.
Def Leppard is one of the most influential rock bands of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Over the past forty years, the band has released eleven studio albums and gone on many worldwide tours. Their mix of pop rhythm, guitar riffs, and heavy metal has earned two Def Leppard albums RIAA Diamond Certification (“The Story of Def Leppard’s Pyromania Album”). However, Def Leppard had to overcome injury, death, and grunge rock to become the success story they are today.
I think classic rock is the best because it is true classic music. It is what started all rock of today. Classic rock is better than most rock days because it sounded way better back when the classic rock bands were popular. Today the “classic rock” is not as good as it was. Bands like Nirvana, The Beach Boys, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queen, Pink Floyd, etc, are the bands that started it all.
As a freshman in high school and band, I was nervous, and very unconfident. But band changed it all for me. I found that helping people out was much more rewarding than just being a good player or marcher. Leadership is the best skill I've learned from band, and it will
Marching band is a very broad field to participate in. High school and college band both have specific criteria they have to meet during marching season. But what are the differences and likenesses between high school and college band? In high school band, there is one show to perform and there are many long, grueling hours spent perfecting and fine tuning it. The show is not only for halftime spectating at football games, but also band festival and regional contests. High school band has a more stern outlook because the entire season is spent working for placement, whether it be superior or not. Some bands have a more difficult time working considering obstacles such as size. Bands can range anywhere from only thirty to two hundred. With upperclassmen
I am not from a very musical family, so band opened up a completely different world to me. Participating in band allowed me to be more well rounded in my school activities and created a better sense of culture with in me. Playing saxophone in our high school band was an extremely enjoyable experience, I personally enjoyed listening to my part and corresponding parts. Listening to the tones of each individual instrument, as a perfect harmonic sound protruded. It was relaxing as it was a break from my rigorous course load. Band gave me the opportunity to be creative, which was generally absent in my daily life. Having the opportunity to play a musical instrument has also enhanced my intellectual abilities. Studies have shown that playing
All across the world, music is a major part of daily lives. Different genres, instruments, languages, and rhythms may exist, but the fact that music brings people of different races and religion together remains untouched. The Grand Ole Opry, a show that began in Nashville, Tennessee, has brought millions of people together over the years. Whether a person is tuning in to the AM station, online, on the app, or enjoying a live show at the historic Grand Ole Opry House, all Opry listeners share the same passion for country music, bluegrass, gospel, and of course, a laugh every now and then.
The changes in rock and roll music reflected the mood of the population in the United States during the Vietnam War. Rock and roll, written as rock ‘n’ roll, music was fully born in the 1950’s and formed from electric blues and gospel music. Rock and roll is characterized by electric guitars, a strong rhythm and youth-orientated music. This music became popular because of the children of the decade. Parents called this type of music “noise.” While parents were listening to calm music, their children were listening to rock n roll.
Everyone can say that music has become a major part of almost everything in our lives, but many argue about whether or not music is a luxury or whether we need it to survive. Music has been around for as long as anyone can remember, yes it has evolved, but there’s always been music it seems. From tribes performing their rituals with music, all the way to someone listening to it just for fun. But, many say that a human needs music to survive, that without it life would not go on. And like mentioned before, it has been around for many years and it seems like one cannot picture a world without it. In my opinion, I believe, that one does not need music to live, it is just something people like to do while studying, practicing a sport, or just for fun.
Learning all music is very important and a freshman first job. Once the music is learned completely we start the drill sequence. .After this the rest of the book is worked on until it meets the band director’s needs. The key factor of a good freshman is discipline. This has a lot of points that will make or break you. This means the attitudes are in check and there are no feelings just business. Staying in a freshman place is following all the rules even if there don’t make sense. It’s a freshman job to sit back and learn as much as possible the first year. No freshman is allowed to any extra activities until and upperclassmen. Fraternizing is also a topic freshman cannot partake in. Reading is not an issue from upper classmen and so shouldn’t it be from freshman. All basic skills are to be mastered. Once one is finally consider an upperclassmen the duties are now to swerve the band as a noble person. Still keeping the original attitude as a freshman the work still needs to be done. Even after being a freshman there are a lot of responsibilities in the band. Upholding the band in its standard is a big responsibility carried on even after being a freshman. After Devin realized that following these rules for freshman helped him out in the long run. These rules in the end will make a successful freshman and continue to be a successful
When explaining band and orchestra, they can be further broken down into different groups. Orchestra can be further broken down into string orchestra and symphony orchestra while the band can be broken down into jazz band and rock band. These classifications separate musicians into different musical groups depending what type of music and instruments they play, Children are given the opportunity to play an instrument starting their fifth-grade year. Rock music has had its ups and downs over the past sixty or so years. It has gone from being seen as a sin or sexual term to a genre that has taken over the world and is not looking back. The genre had a unique beginning because it was the combination of jazz, gospel, blues, and western country music. Rock music also has its fair share of controversy, but it has many more bright points that have shaped the genre as a whole. With this being a new genre of music, many new ideas were brought into the music world that had never been thought of. Rock music has many different subgroups that bands have made many strides in and many of the most popular bands will reach into multiple subgroups of rock and roll.
