I picked an article about a controlled experiment on three diesel, four gasoline, and three hybrid cars. I think analyze my artifact by “testing the argument(s) from principle is the most important and that is what this article starts off by doing. The diversity in this controlled experiment between all of these different cars demonstrates different principles. The verification of the evidence because highly important in argument testing, and rule discovery, and argument evaluation. The argument testing Is where most scientists believe that hybrid cars are ultimate good for our earth and our population exposure; however in some ways then has proven to be false. The topic is electric and magnetic(MF) exposure to humans, depends really on different …show more content…
parameters. Debate is all about evidence and logical reasons and this article has a lot of sources and statically evidence.”MF levels were measured in 11 different car models from eight different car manufacturers: four gasoline (G1, G2, G3, G4), three diesel (D1, D2, D3), and four hybrid (H1, H2, H3, H4). MF levels from one of the hybrid cars (H4) were measured under dissimilar conditions, and thus, data from this car were excluded from analysis, leaving 10 cars with extensive measurements”(Ronen). An Example of intense evidence is suggested when tests where done with the car not moving, moving, parked, etc..
A total of 5 cars both hybrid and non-hybrid at the same speed of 40mph and 80 mph. Proving the authenticity of the evidence that was done over a series of tests. This type of evidence would fall under observations basically eyewitness served testimonies, tests done over a series of time and consistency. The consistency is achieved throughout the tables provided in the article. The tables and figures map out outliners and comparisons among the numbers that contribute to the success of the observations and the verifications. Table 1, are the types of cars based on seated positions as well as operating condition and seating. Figure 2, is more of a ratio between runs at different miles per the hour going for the lowest to to highest speed. Table 2 was based on numbers showing by the engine …show more content…
type. Figure 3 is based on the magnetic field of measurements based on the specific engine type. Table 3 was the experiment between different seat types with the highest geometric mean value. Next I want to explain is Pragmatic arguments, “are arguments that recommends or discourages a course of action on the causes of its practical consequences(Herrick)”. This type of arguments is solely based upon what is good for your and what is not. People were given the notion that hybrid cars were going to be the future, when this is untrue. To get rid of one problem you end up creating so many more problems for others, I don't think it is a reasonable argument then, Pragmatic means beneificial for everyone. Realizing if taking away these modified cars, if the public would be able to adjust is a very important notion in eliminating them. Taking the position of God when we decide whether or not this is good for everyone, this is where most people usually win the appeal. I feel like with all of the evidence the MF is too heavy for our population and our people, even though hybrid cars are good for the planet it may not be appropriate for the people of the planet. Taking a look at the alternative argument which is arguing comparative advantages which is that the proposed plan has way more advantages. I don't really think this applies to the article here because the article is based on the notion that experiments prove that is more bad than good. Next argument that the text mentioned was Arguments from Principle which is based upon values, principles, and duties. Morally it is our job to make sure that the earth is doing good along with our people. I think that want we put into the Earth should be a united front of action that is done by the community. I think that Morally this article is attacking our decisions as a whole, but in a very good way. The title of the article Characterization of Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields from Diesel, Gasoline and Hybrid Cars under Controlled Conditions. Is this principle relevant to the discussion, I think it is very much relevant because it effects everyone that is a part of our Earth. It it a issue that holds interest and relevance in our lives. Next would be taking a look at whether or not these principles clash with one another. Next I would like to talk about the arguments from Quantity and Quality part in this article.
First taking a look at the Quantity value of the argument, Quantity based argument is based on numerical considerations of the significance. This article uses a ton of numerical evidence to prove that the MF that is created by all of these cars is tremendous. “A Greek study [7] examined the fields in all four seats and at the feet, chest, and head positions in six hybrid cars, under four driving conditions: stationary and during 20–40, 80–120, and over 120 km/h”(Herrick). The previous tables and figures I have shown, have mentioned tons of numerical numbers to prove the authencity of this article. I think there was a lot of places in this article where the big numbers were compared with smaller numbers. I think the use of quantity here was to underline the implications of the problem at hand. When the staticitis were mentioned throughout the article I feel like they were backed up with reliable sources of engineers and educated people with degrees. In analzying the quality of the argument I can say that the sources were relaible and relevance in the topic. I feel like the considerations are fairly more important than the quanity because it could be different with others in another experiment. Some may test the theory over and over in different ways and be confronted with different claims of MF. Now taking a look at argument from quality. The article for sure does implement the
rare and unusual, to be coninvinced that something is efficient and then realize that there are so many other things wrong with it. Indicted quality presence seems to be very much there, the amount of MF distrubution for each car can be tested and is concrete. I feel like it is rare because many of the following words were used: spectral analysis, magnetization, systematically, calibrated, maximal, repeatability, synchronized. I feel like the article did a job, debating the Characterization of Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields from Diesel, Gasoline and Hybrid Cars under Controlled Conditions. There was research done by highly experienced individuals with credentials. I think analzying this based on the categories of chapter 16 helped me gain knowlegede of the authenticity of this work.
Ask any ten enthusiasts what two cars epitomize the concept of an automotive rivalry and at least nine of them will instantly conclude the Chevrolet or Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang, two cars that make up part of a small automotive segment known as Pony Cars. These fire-breathing leviathans of the street snarl with guttural reverberations boastfully announcing their presence with the mere turn of key. For nearly five decades, these mechanical beasts have captured the imagination of the American driver and ignited the most contentious debate in automotive history: Which car reigns supreme? Muscle car buffs waste no time quoting sales figures, vehicle performance, track times, or even mundane statistics like vehicle dimensions or available colors to simply justify their support for one model over the other. As this debate rages on, the makers of these brutes fan the flames through targeted marketing strategies, consumer promotions, pricing strategies, and creative advertising all in effort to win an automotive war the likes of which have never been seen or fought before (Davenport, 2013).
Going into details of the article, I realized that the necessary information needed to evaluate the experimental procedures were not included. However, when conducting an experiment, the independent and dependent variable are to be studied before giving a final conclusion.
The majority of people, especially in America, cannot go about their daily lives without a car. Automobiles have instilled themselves in peoples’ lives and shown their usefulness since their debut in 1769. Since then, humans have redesigned and refined the automobile thousands of times, each time making the vehicle more efficient and economical than before. Now as the world approaches an ethical decision to dwarf all others, many people look toward automotives for yet another change. The emergence of the hypercar due to ecological turmoil exemplifies the change the world has demanded. Hypercars alter everything people know about automotives, modern ecology, and fuel efficiency. Not only do hypercars offer a solution to many ecological problems humans are faced with now, they also represent the only logical area for the automotive industry, and by some stretch American society, to expand.
I found the problem with the argument of the article was there was no set argument that was clearly stated. If there was an argument in the article it was not clearly stated and I personally did not catch onto it. Altogether this was a well written article without a clear argument.
Vehicles are a main necessities of our life, it have been with us for quite a long period; it is time efficient, but the number of death it have caused is not easily avoided; therefore the engineers have designed vehicle safety features such as seat belts and crumple zones regarding the concepts of Newton’s Laws of Motion to help save our lives.

Discuss defense of claims made in the paper. Is the author using sources to defend claims? What sources? How convincing are they? What other information might the author use? Has the author remembered to acknowledge the opposition? To repeat myself: the sources are insufficient. Look for: magazines, journal articles, and scholarly books. Run subject searches on InfoTrac.
The idea of the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) has been around for longer than a decade, as many people may not have originally thought. In fact, hybrid vehicles have been in development for the past century. The combination of an electric motor and a gasoline engine has been stirring in the minds of scientists and inventors alike for many years. Hybrid cars have surpassed many feats as it's progressed through the years, such as increased gas mileage and reducing the pollutants that regular internal combustion engines expel. While the hybrid car is in high demand at the present time, some people believe these cars are just a quick resolution before bigger and better ideas, such as fuel cell vehicles, begin taking over the automobile industry. Still, the development of the hybrid car has had many effects on today's society and may continue to in the future.
Argument Essay Where Would We Be Without Animal Testing? Is the use of animals in research justified? Should animal experimentation be permitted? Should these animals be liberated? A logical person would say the benefits justify the research.
Cars are large objects of great mass which can reach very fast velocities, this can be a dangerous combination if the physics aren’t correct. Seeing as there is over 1.2 billion cars world wide, physicians have put much detail into aspects of cars to make them as safe as possible. In the paragraphs below I will be be briefly discussing different aspects of the everyday automobile and its safety.
This paper is a look at the physics behind car racing. We look look at how we can use physics to select tires, how physics can help predict how much traction we will have, how physics helps modern cars get there extreme speed, how physics lets us predict the power of an engine, and how physics can even help the driver find the quickest way around the track.
Henry Ford II, CEO of the Ford Corporation, was creating a competitive automobile to rival the foreign vehicles, he labeled the project a high priority. To launch the design and manufacturing of this automobile, Mr. Ford turned to his company president, Lido Anthony Iacocca aka “Lee: the father of the mustang”. The Fords Engineers staff, pressured by the upper management were rushed into completing the project at a unheard speed. The average time scale, to designed and produce a car, would take between 40 to 45 months. The Ford Corporation achieved it in 25. After performing rear collation test, the Fords Engineers discovered that in nearly all rear collision above 20 MPH would indicate that the gas tank would get puncture with the rear end differential placement bolts. This would allow for fuel to leak out and potentially burst into flames. The passengers will typically die in the flames due to the jamming of the doors, not letting the persons escape from the car. Iacocca had three possible courses of action he could of taken: 1.release the pinto 2.pay the 11$ to fix the car issue 3. Wait till the car was well design so their would be the least flaws. If I were the one to decide what would of happened using the particularism approach: I would have to see that if I release the pinto there would be deaths involved due to the fact that the car was explosive, if I fix the car paying only 11$ I would have got more profits due to the fact that
Over the years, cars have advanced from a very basic and functional piece of technology to a high speed and intelligent set of interrelated components. Cars play a big part in our world and have changed a lot over the years.
Thesis: Auto racing is becoming a safer sport with all of the new innovations introduced in the past couple of years including the caught fence, safety barrier, and Han’s device.
