The world of technology is ever changing and advancing. With the automotive industry in play technology is constantly surpassing what is available today with what can be done for tomorrow. Technology and the automotive industry go hand in hand with constant improvement to components of cars. Due to technology advancement there is competition within the car industry, especially between American car companies and European car companies. European car companies provide their buyers with innovative variety and revolutionary luxuries. European car technology is superior to American car technology due to their safety, entertainment, and luxury features. Technologies in European cars provide safety features which surpass these in American cars. Technologies like these make European cars more attractive to car buyers. One such feature includes night vision capabilities. If a person is thinking about driving a vehicle, there are two options that can bring different experiences. SUVs are 4x4, strong, big, and more dangerous than sedans. While, sedans are fast, small, and the more popular choice. Driving a SUV and sedan are different in terms of safety, power and comfortable.

For this week’s assignment, I read the different comments published by Bloomberg Businessweek under the title “What Drives Consumers not to Buy GM Cars”. The comments imply that consumers demand reliability, durability, low fuel consumption, and functionality in the cars that they buy. American cars are big, strong, and stylish. However, these cars don’t meet the demands of consumers because they are designed to look elegant and not have the necessary features for the consumers.
For as long as there have been roads to drive on, Americans have had a love affair with their cars and trucks. Ever since consumers became interested in car design and styling in the 1920s, the car manufactures have invested in innovation to quench the thirst of the American car buyer (Pauwels, Silva-Risso, Srinivasan, and Hassens, 2004, p. 143). When I was young, September was the time of year when the car manufactures showcased the new models, generating excitement and of course new sales.

We wanted everything about the car to be bigger, taller, more powerful, and covered with chrome. Just as the Europeans were spitting out sports cars, the American car manufacturers wanted to do something different; in result, “heavy metal” became the catch phrase for cars in the 1950s.
Sudden car accidents have become one of the major problems that various stakeholders in the automobile industry continue to experience. The severity of this problem is evident in the frequency of sudden car accidents, injuries, and the number of deaths that occur. Actually, sudden car accidents take place on a daily and regular basis to an extent that they cause significant harm to victims and their families. Some of these accidents are attributed to the behaviors of drivers and passengers who believe they will never get involved in car accidents. As a result, these people drive while drunk, don’t wear seat belts, and use cell phones while driving. However, sudden car accidents are also attributed to several different reasons that need to be addressed in order to lessen their frequency and impact. One of the major factors contributing to sudden car accidents is car braking problems, especially difficulties for drivers to identify the car brake strength. Consequently, there is need to design a product that limit car accidents through providing information regarding the strength of the car brake.
