Modern society has developed many ways to send and receive information across nations in a matter of seconds, revolutionizing the method of communications from human to human. Progressing from hieroglyphs depicting an average day in the eyes on a pre-modern civilization, to e-mail and texting and the World Wide Web being used to transform an industry of communications into a stage unheard of from our forefathers of technology. Advancements have led us to discoveries never imagined possible with the push of a button as well as making everyday life just that much easier. The need for writing letters and waiting weeks to receive them or having to travel half way across the world has been cut into a tool that literally defines the new age. The internet has not only become the base of how most people reach one another nowadays but the base of how most people do anything nowadays, period. The evolution of technology has drastically altered the entire planet into a day and age where anything we could possibly desire is at our fingertips. Want to view a foreign country without paying to travel? Google street view can literally place in the town you’d wish to see most. Miss last week’s football game? YouTube displays highlights of every game at the push of a button. Bottom line with technology is that if you could think it, it could be accomplished with technology.

Military uses the internet for critical communications that may or may not have dire situations, but is a necessity for swift and accurate exchanging of information from base to anyone from pilots, submarine captains or simply foot soldiers. In addition to the military, even musicians, artists and even as far as scientists rely on the internet to broadcast and possess information needed at the moment. The internet is no longer just a source for research, as Cascio has said “ the digital systems we rely upon become faster, more sophisticated, and capable too” (Cascio). What he means by this is that we can rely more on technology to help us because it’s developing to become efficient to our daily needs. For example, there are tasks we can now complete on the internet that used to require plenty of time. Things like going to pay rent, purchasing groceries, or going to the bank are all things that can now be done online due to the faster, more capable power of the internet. Once time consuming or complex tasks are now simple to complete with just a few clicks. This is a beneficial concept to those who have busy schedules, have difficulties with transportation, disabilities that don’t allow them to maneuver much, or anyone who just doesn't have the time, patients, or ability to stand in long, never-ending waiting lines. According to the previously mentioned study done by Nanjing University of Science and Technology with the University of South Australia “elderly people are increasingly using mobile devices to conduct online banking, find jobs, access medical help, and obtain entertainment information” (Ma). This research goes to at the least provide an example of one group of people who have benefited from using the internet to make their life
Our modern day society depends on technology for everything, can anyone imagine a life without their phone or computer? Probably not, social media and other popular applications have become so ingrained into our daily lives. Not only can we connect with people anytime throughout the day but we also have so many useful applications that help us on a daily basis. Thinking back to when I was eight years old, I couldn 't wait for sixth grade because my parents had promised to get me a cell phone, I remember counting down the days till the summer of fifth grade was over because I already knew which cell phone I wanted. Once I got it I couldn’t stop showing my mom all of the cool things it could do. Which looking back at it today, it really couldn
As decades and centuries pass, technology evolves. Machines become more efficient, and communication between locations becomes easier. Due to this, the process of doing things changes. With the advent of the Internet, it is important to understand and look deeper into the effects of technology on society, as it is “complexly woven into the circumstances and rhythms of social life” (Gasher, Skinner and Lorimer, 2012, p. 155). For this reason, there are various perspectives on technology.
Imagine a world where you couldn’t connect to your family and friends immediately through a phone call or text message, but instead had to send them a letter that could take weeks, or even months until they received it. Imagine a world where if you needed to look something up you had to walk to the library and look it up in a book, instead of going onto the internet. Imagine a world with no televisions, and only radios. Imagine a world where only the rich had cars, and everyone else had to walk everywhere. This is what life was like in the 1900’s, and why I believe that technology is the greatest advancement since then.

Introduction In an attempt to find out why most governments and economists encourage technological changes even though it increases structural unemployment, it is important to first and foremost understand the meanings of ‘technological change’ and ‘structural unemployment’. Technological change refers to the improvement of processes that make it easier to produce more, efficiently and at reduced inputs. On the other hand, structural unemployment refers to a situation where skills needed to produce efficiently cannot be matched to appropriate unemployed persons due to technological change – in other words, it refers to inefficiencies in the labor market. Governments and economists and encourage technological change in order to efficiently improve production with reduced inputs, thereby boosting the economy. Impact of technological change on employment As new innovations and technologies are brought into production processes, matching continuous training is necessary to ensure that the supply of skilled labor is available to work with these technologies.

Thanks to the Internet, information from anywhere in the world is at our fingertips. As a result, the advancement of technology has changed our life in many ways including; sharing of information, communication, business, education, social interaction, simplifying everyday tasks, replacing basic skills and jobs.
