Imagine a world where you couldn’t connect to your family and friends immediately through a phone call or text message, but instead had to send them a letter that could take weeks, or even months until they received it. Imagine a world where if you needed to look something up you had to walk to the library and look it up in a book, instead of going onto the internet. Imagine a world with no televisions, and only radios. Imagine a world where only the rich had cars, and everyone else had to walk everywhere. This is what life was like in the 1900’s, and why I believe that technology is the greatest advancement since then. The first reason why I believe that technology is the greatest advancement since the 1900s is because of phones. In the 1900’s there were no phones. In the 1900’s there was no computers, only typewriters and books. If you needed to look up something, you would have to go to the library to look it up in a book, and if you needed to type something you would have to use a typewriter, where you couldn’t just erase your mistake, but had to start all over again. Now in the 21st century, computers make it easy to look up some information, or write a paper. The third reason why I believe that technology is the greatest advancement since the 1900s is because of televisions. In the 1900’s there was no TVs, only radios. There was no way to watch sports or the news, which was the only things available at the time, but instead had to listen to the announcer’s description through the radio. Now, in the 21st century, there are TV’s in almost every house in America. We now have cable, which helps get better signals.
