Archery is for anybody. Tall, short, you name it. It is a sport that is included in the after-school program at GCMS. The sport contains 2 simple things: Bow and Arrow. Getting involved in this program is very simple. All there is to do is show up and pay $5 dollars each meet. Rules, there are a lot of them. Some include being behind the shooting range when other flights are up, a certain amount of whistle blows means copious things, hands up to face up, etc... There are competitions to win prizes near the end of the year that all can look forward to and there are events like the archery tournament that a select few can go and get into it As Michael D. states "You have to focus to make the archery team". To begin with, there is the rule of being behind the shooting range while the other flights are shooting. Flights are the group of people shooting and the instructor chooses who goes on flights. She calls flight numbers by whistle so say someone was in flight 2 then she would blow the whistle twice and those people go shoot. Another rule: hands up to face up. Those who went on L.D.S. should know what that is and for those who do not know it is when someone raises their hand, everyone is supposed to be quiet, stop what everyone is doing, raise hands in an L formation and pay attention to the person who is doing so. When shooting, the way one scores is by the color of a ring. If someone shoots the very center of the yellow rings that means that person gets 10 marks in which is a bulls eye. If someone gets a white and it is the very outside ring, then get a 1 point which is much better than nothing. Some obvious rules include not going in front of others while shooting, listening to instructors, step in the range when shooting and ready to shoot, bow on toe because the instructor does not want sand in the bow otherwise it will not work as
In recent years, the media have increased their coverage of crime reporting, more specifically, in suburban neighborhoods. Although violent crime rates are low, the covering of these stories has increased in the last few decades. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise that several media platforms have been closely following up with the Scarborough crossbow killings.
Zen in the Art of Archery, by Eugen Herrigel describes the ritualistic arts of discipline and focus that the Zen religion focuses around. In this book, Herrigel describes many aspects of how archery is, in fact, not a sport, but an art form, and is very spiritual to those in the east. The process he describes shows how he overcame his initial inhibitions and began to look toward new ways of seeing and understanding. In the beginning of the book Herrigel tells us that he is writing about a ritual and religious practice, “whose aim consists in hitting a spiritual goal, so that fundamentally the marksman aims at himself and may even succeed in hitting himself.” (Herrigel p. 4) Through his studies, the author discovers that within the Zen ritual actions, archery in this case, there lies a deeper meaning. Herrigel explains throughout this book that it is not through the actual physical aspect of shooting arrows at targets that archery is Zen, but through the art and spirituality through which it is performed. It is not merely shooting an arrow to hit a target, but becoming the target yourself and then, in turn, hitting yourself spiritually. By meeting this spiritual goal, you will then meet the physical goal. The struggle then is, therefore not with the arrow or the target but within oneself.
Wireless voice poles are kept in front of the shooter, so when they are ready for a target they simply call out “Pull”, and a target is thrown. Posture is very important when shooting. Feet are to be placed a shoulder width apart, with feet almost perpendicular to the top of the square. Assuming the shooter is right handed, the right elbow is kept straight out, even with the shoulder, right hand holding the trigger guard and butt of the gun, and left hand holding the stock. Both eyes must be open while shooting for the best accuracy.
I believe that in middle school, it is a necessity for kids to be involved in extracurricular sports to learn knew skills that they can apply on and off the field. Due to budget cuts, more and more schools have had to cut extracurricular sports. I know that I want sports to come back and so do many kids in middle school. Sports will benefit your health and many other aspects that help you become successful.
Since the beginning of time man has been hunting animals for food. Even before fire, man needed to hunt, because hunting was the only way to eat. At first man used things such as spears and rocks to kill its prey. As man evolved, they started using bows and arrows. Next came an early model of what we use today, the firearm. It is powerful yet easy to carry around. It puts the animal through less suffering and is a lot more efficient than previous techniques. Hunting was once a necessity, but now it is a tradition, passed on from father to son as a way to spend time together, enjoy the outdoors, and experience what our ancestors went through in hunting their dinner. Since it is considered a sport some think we are killing off the deer population, when in actuality, “While most other big-game species have declined with the spread of urbanization, the whitetail has been able to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Through the efforts of state agencies and conservation groups like Whitetails Unlimited, wildlife officials estimate today’s whitetail population to exceed 30 million” (www.whitetailsunlimited.org).
Introduction: The Infantry faces many different challenges when it comes to making the training realistic and valuable to keep our infantrymen ready to fight in today’s complex operating environment. The term “train as you fight” is not necessarily true when training in a garrison atmosphere. The doctrine or methods of training used by the conventional infantry are outdated and paralyzed with range limitations and unrealistic guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The infantryman is a master of his assigned weapon system, and the Army needs to do better at preparing our Soldiers for the battlefield. Marksmanship skills are essential for any unit conveyed to a wartime theater. This paper will examine the four significant army marksmanship

To achieve a degree in Athletic Training, there are many tasks and skills to be learned. The Education Council under the National Athletic Training Association put together an education program filled with a set of guidelines of what has to be taught to graduate with a degree in Athletic Training. Before you can learn and understand Athletic Training, you must know the Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. This includes bones, muscles, levels of organization, tissue levels, systems of the body, skeletal structure, articulations, integrative functions, sensory function, blood, and embryology (Martini, 2001). Besides Anatomy and Physiology, the methods of taping is also extremely critical to this career. Before you can understand what each taping techniques are used for, you must also know about sports injuries. Athletic Training is all about the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and evaluation of athletic injuries. Another skill that must be learned in the Athletic Training Education Program is how to provide immediate emergency care. That includes everything from background information to actually being able to save an athlete’s or any one else’s life. You must be aware of legal considerations, how and when to approach a victim, the human body systems, examining the victim, basic life support, bleeding and shock, identifying wounds, sudden illnesses, injuries, and how to care for them; also you must be aware of cold and heat related injuries, and how to rescue and move victims (Thygerson, 2001). Other information to be learned includes nutrition, health, and professional development. There are several other topics of Athletic Training; however, there are just to many to s...

Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot.
Scoring is not complicated at all. After winning the first point, no matter if the Server or the Receiver wins, his score is fifteen. Then, when a player wins his second point, he has a score of thirty. A third point makes the score forty. The fourth point wins the game. In addition, the score is called deuce if both players have scored three points. The first player to score two consecutive points will win the game. Most matches are played the best out of five sets. In a set, the first player to win six games wins that set if he is up by two games.
will each get a turn at this, and hopefully, it will prove to be fun
When it comes to teaching, there are many different ways and types of methods you can use to teach your students. One of the most common ways of teaching is by using Sport Education. This type of teaching style is best used for elementary students. According to Daryl Siedentop, a professor from Ohio State University believes that class should teach kids about skills, teamwork, and the importance behind each sport or activity. Sport Education recreates the meaning behind gym class.
When I was younger, I’d always worry about not being able to reach an object or be able to score a goal in sports. Especially because of my short height, I’d have to find creative ways in order to achieve these things. Projectile motion is just a fancy way of describing the efforts I had to go through in order to throw a basketball into the hoop at a certain height, or hit a golf ball at a certain angle in order to aim it.
Although there are two parts to this type of curriculum, both outdoor sports and adventure education overlap a great deal. Outdoor sports mainly focus on sports that are mainly done outside and in it's normal state use the outside world. Although, it also means that any sport that is played outdoors is considered an outdoor sport. Adventure education is more specific. Adventure education is defined as “an experimental process that takes place in challenging outdoor settings where the primary purpose is to build and strengthen inter- and intra-personal relationships, personal health, leadership skills, and environmental understandings” (“Adventure Education”). This includes such activities such as ropes courses and team challenges. They are smaller games that require students to think but at the same time they are making students be physically...
