APA (American Psychological Association) style was created in order to standardize scientific writing. In this class, I will be applying APA style to the final case study, but it can also be applied to empirical studies, literature reviews, methodological articles, research reports, term papers and theoretical articles. It is very mechanical and specific way to format writing. One must pay special attention to typeface, linepsacing, margins, and page headers. The layout consist of eight divided sections; Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Reference, and Appendices.
The first line of every paragraph should be indented one inch and the entire manuscript should be double spaced. Throughout the manuscript, a sans serif such as Times Roman is used and a sans serif font such as Aria is used for the figure labels. All pages should be numbered on the upper right hand corner. Three things to keep in mind while writing an APA style paper. First, the text should be specific and clear. Text that is written in APA style is objective. Language should be extremely specific. Secondly, special attention to be given to label. Designated labels should be be condensed and concise to accurately title sections. Lastly, all references should be
APA style is very important in all types of careers and school papers and research papers. The importance for this style paper is because it is usually seven pages long and the paper gives specific information and easy way to access the information. If you’re looking for something specific the headings in the paper help you know where to look without going through everything.
APA (American Psychological Association) style is primarily used in the social science disciplines. It is formatted like MLA, and shows many similarities, but is unique in several key points.
In[a] the novel, Trouble, Henry respects Chay nearing the end of their adventure, because he learned about his tragic life in Cambodia. MLA, in which this essay has been written, is most commonly used in the study of literature and humanities. This is because of a variety of factors within the format that allow the author to display their information in a fashion that seamlessly flows. APA, unlike MLA, labels when the topic or subject
English 1302 has presented the tools to learn new skills that will be beneficial in upcoming English courses I will be taking. The first of these is learning how to write in APA format. Until taking this course, I had only been taught how to write a
The strengths in my writing are my organizational skills, grammatical construct, and my work ethic. Organizing an essay is a very natural process for me. I always follow the basic guidelines for the structure of an essay, which state that one must have an introduction, thesis statement, body, conclusion, and a works cited when needed. The “Are Helicopter Parents Entering the No Fly Zone?” essay, “Animal Cloning—How Unethical Is It?” essay, and the “The Clean Water Act—Is it Successfully Reducing Water Pollution?” essay all have a proper introduction, an informative thesis statement, a body, great conclusions, and works cited pages. Formatting the essays is an integral aspect of organizational skills. Each new paragraph is indented, the font is twelve-point Times New Roman, the sentences are double spaced, and the headers are correct.
All I had ever known was MLA so it was quite a shock when I found out I would have to learn how to cite in APA. The first thing I did when I found out how we were going to cite our papers was go to Easybib to have the website to it for me. Turns out Easybib wants you to pay them if you want your sources cited in APA format. Once I found that out I scoured the web to find a website that could do it for me. I could not find a dependable site anywhere so I had to go look in the english book on how to cite. When I got to the section on citing sources in my book I realized that this is where I should have went right from the start. The book had every type of citation you would ever have to use. But even after I found out how to properly cite my sources, it was still another question for me

I used Georgia size 12 font for all the text except for the heading, which is larger, and the references, which are much smaller, so the document would not appear scattered. Using standard margins, indentation, and unjustified text throughout simply looked cleaner. I further showed consistency by using horizontal columns at the beginning and at end, but was it not dull due to the two columns in the middle. White space is used around the drain illustrations in order to make pictures stand out.
There is a seemingly shy or introverted girl in an eighth grade class that has been having some various difficulties in navigating her education. She does not participate much, and does everything in her power to avoid drawing attention to herself or being noticed in class. She also does not divulge much personal information to the teacher. In addition to all of this, she has been somewhat ignored in class, both by the teacher and by the students. Furthermore, she seems to have problems at home. Her parents have strong, dominant personalities and have argued with school leadership about their daughter. This is her second stepmother, and she does not get to spend much time with her biological mother. Finally, she has also been diagnosed with ADD.

Qualitative and quantitative instruments were used in obtaining data for this instructional problem. The first instrument used was quantitative, the instructor gave students a writing assignment, and when it was graded, it was clear that there was a problem with effective topic and thesis statements, as well as general organization of the paper. To be sure that this wasn’t an isolated problem, the second instrument was developed; a quantitative instrument that surveyed the teachers, asking for information on their students comprehensive writing skills.
Swales has provided a technique known as Create a Research Space (CARS) in order to give readers of academic journals the ability to recognize key points and to understand what is being conveyed to them in three moves. These three moves are are establishing a territory; establishing a niche; and occupying a niche. Thonney states that no matter what the discipline, there are general writing techniques that are applicable across the board. To verify her point she analyzed randomly selected articles from different disciplines ranging from “American Journal of Community Psychology” to “Proceeding of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers”. From this analysis, she concluded that there are six standard techniques applicable to all academic journals .The two techniques explored are that writers emphasize evidence, often in tables, graphs and images and those academic writers adopt a voice of authority. This paper will use Swale’s CARS and two conventions described by Thonney in order to
Many people all over the world have a dream, to summit Everest. They want to feel the amazing feeling of reaching the top of the world, even if it may cost them their life. They are willing to risk everything for that moment. In an interview that I had with Apa Sherpa, who climbed Everest twenty-one times, described this feeling, “It is very special. It is an incredible proud and happy moment to be on the summit.” Over the years many have tried, some succeeded, some failed and some even lost their lives. All in an attempt to reach their goal of standing at the top of the world.
