Ap Psychology Goals Paper
As a highschool student we come up with many goals that we want to achieve each year. My three main goals for my junior year are to get good grades and maintain a good G.P.A. to stay active and play sports, and to start looking for colleges to apply for. Usually, it is hard to achieve all your own personal goals, especially if it involves working extra hard or doing other tedious activities.
One major goal I have this year, being a junior is to get good grades and maintain a good G.P.A. I have set this as one of my goals because junior year is the last full year where grades really matter when deciding the fate of your future. To do this, I have limited the time I spend socializing on my phone while studying

and doing homework and also limited the time I spend watching netflix. Although, I may be getting proficient grades, I know I could do much better.
Unlike last year, I am determined to go above and beyond to get the grades I want. This includes more time studying for tests, asking questions when needed, doing the required work to prepare for the test, and retaking tests I passed to get a higher grade. An obstacle I may encounter when trying to reach my goal is struggling in a specific or challenging subject. This obstacle may cause anxiety. If anxiety occurs or I have trouble in a certain subject, I will work even harder in that subject to obtain the knowledge needed to get the grade I want. In order to fulfill all that is needed to maintain good grades I must also take care of my body. Taking care of my body will also result in good grades. This includes staying active, exercising, maintaining healthy eating habits, having a sleep schedule and avoiding …show more content…
stressful situations. Sleep is another main factor in how well you do in school, more sleep allows your organs and brain to perform at your best. If I get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, hopefully I will see an improvement in my grades. Following these steps, I am motivated to go above and beyond in maintaining good grades throughout my junior year so I can get accepted into a good college and can achieve my life goals. Another major goal I have set for this year is staying active and playing sports.
Being active consists of a strong, healthy, body. I have set this as another one of my goals because being active and playing sports does not just improve your health, but also improves your brain power. This allows you to do a lot better in school, which could also improve your grades. Another reason I chose being active as one of my goals is because I have lupus and having lupus requires staying fit, being healthy, and regularly exercising to decrease chances of having a flare up. To do this, I intend to play soccer this year and continuously stay active on days I am not practicing or playing. Although I do occasionally exercise, I know I could be a lot more fit. Unlike the past years, I am determined to play soccer this year and maintain a healthy diet and body. An obstacle that may interfere with my goal is an injury. Injuries can trigger depression and cause discouragement, sadness and anger. If this occurs I will keep a positive mindset and and accept the situation. I will stay involved with friends and teammates to prevent myself from feeling isolated. I will also regularly work out alternative muscle groups that will allow me to still be engaged and active so I can achieve my
goal. The last major goal I have this year is finding majors that interest me and searching for colleges to apply for. I have set this goal because junior year is when you start searching for colleges that match your interests. To do this, I first plan on doing career research and taking career assessments to see what majors fit my personality. This will allow me to narrow my career possibilities, which will make searching for colleges much easier. Although I may not be applying to colleges yet, searching for the right college is a long process and takes a lot of time and patience. Obstacles I may encounter when trying to find the right college is meeting the required standards, deciding if I'm ready to live on my own, and rejection. This could lead to major stress and anxiety. To prevent that from happening I will make sure to keep up my grades to fit the required standards. I will also also talk to my family about the pros and cons of living on my own, to see what is best for me. In order to cope with the stress and anxiety I will continuously do things that will take my mind off of everything. Whether it be exercising, writing in a journal, listening to music, hanging out with friends, playing sports,or sleeping. I will make sure that I'm actively participating in things in my free time to prevent myself from getting overwhelmed and stressed. If all goes well, I will be able to enjoy my junior year with little stress while figuring out the life ahead of me. Throughout working extremely hard through all the tedious activities that I'm faced with, I hope to maintain good grades, stay active, participate in sports, and find a college that suits my interests. By the end of my junior year I hope to have achieved these desired goals and will be ready to move one step forward in pursuing my dreams.
1. Summary: From small incidences, we can distinguish two types of people: the ones who sigh in frustration out of small mistakes and those who promptly deal with them without uttering any more than a single complaint or sigh. According to Michael D. Robinson(PHD at North Dakota State University), how we cope with these most dull incidents can reveal a lot about us as humans and our temperaments. In fact, this small deviation in behavior can prove detrimental to our health long term. Just as significantly stressful events can cause stress hormones to flood throughout our body, these small incidents can harm us according to Nancy Nicolson(associate professor of psychiatry and psychology at Maastricht University). Furthermore, Nicolson points to a 10-15% increase in cortisol levels for such small annoyances, which may be small compared to the 100% increase that we usually experience from greatly stressful events such as tests, but when accumulated over time, can lead to a bad combined effect. Carmen Sandi further states that feeling chronically stressed can weaken the immune system and increase heart disease. Rosalind S. Dorlen adds on, claiming that mental strategies can be practiced to help us exercise the brain region responsible for reasoning as long as we train ourselves to deal with this persistent tissue. Next, the article lists 5 signs of stress and how to deal with them. Often, we feel inconvenienced about a situation such as when a bus comes late and view our waiting of it as a “waste of time”. Perhaps, Dorlen concludes, we should try to see why the bus may have been late and take the issue from their perspective such as a maj...
Chapter 4 discusses the several states of consciousness: the nature of consciousness, sleep and dreams, psychoactive drugs, hypnosis, and meditation. Consciousness is a crucial part of human experience, it represents that private inner mind where we think, feel, plan, wish, pray, omagine, and quietly relive experiences. William James described the mind as a stream of consciousness, a continuous flow of changing sensations, images thoughts, and feelings. Consciousness has two major parts: awareness and arousal. Awareness includes the awareness of the self and thoughts about one's experiences. Arousal is the physiological state of being engaged with the environment. Theory of mind refers to individuals understanding that they and others think,
Buddha, Confucius, and other lesser known Hebrew scholars philosophized on the mind in an expansive sense.
This year, I want to stay a lot more focused than I did the previous year. Last year, I would slack a little and it showed in my grades. Therefore, I am not going to let that happen this year and will stay focused each grading period. These changes are for the better because I want to maintain my rank at the top of my class with a corresponding high grade-point-average. Also, keeping my grades up can help me gain acceptance into a prestigious college in the future.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
My senior year is very important and that is why I must use it efficiently. There are many things I hope to accomplish during my senior year. Graduation is my top priority because if I do not graduate my future will be in jeopardy. Clubs and extra activities are very important for college acceptance. I hope to get certified in the areas in which I have been training for. Getting into college so that I can be successful is the main goal in my life is. I hope to get accepted to a college or university by the end of my senior year. My schedule will be busy but I will
Without a doubt my favorite class this semester was AP Psychology. As someone who has been mesmerized by the brain, its functions, and human behavior, this class kept me constantly engaged and interested. Walking into class, I knew that every day I would learn something new. This class allowed me to gain a better understanding of people around me, and taught me patience when dealing with numerous different types of people. Also, this class has provided me with a basic understanding of why people do different things, and allowed me to grow and become more open to new things. I went into the class with lots of questions, and have found each of them answered in more depth than I thought about them originally. Prior to taking psychology, I knew
Second, I have various goals I want to accomplish in life. One of those goals is graduating with highest honors and I am already working toward this goal by signing up for the maximum amount of honors classes (three) in my ninth grade year. In addition, I wish to be in the top five percentile of my graduating class and possibly obtain the position of valedictorian. Getting an academic and/or
This year I want to work on myself physically, and mentally. I want to become a better student and a better friend. I want to improve myself for next year and the years to come. I want to set 3 goals this year.Next year, I hope to stay on task, get better grades and be a better friend.
I have a lot of goals for my life, but since I’m in high school right now, so my priority goal should be my high school goal. My high school goal is very important, my college goals or even my life goals depend on it. My high school goal is to get a GPA of 4.5 or above in senior year.
The reason this is my academic goal is because if my grades are the absolute best, they would make my GPA that much better which not only would be great for getting into college but would also make it easier to get a scholarship that would help with tuition. My plan is to study for every test, get all of my work done on time, and finally, not to procrastinate when I have a period of time to do my work. Also, my career goal is to get a career in my intended major, civil engineering. That is my goal, to have a job in my field right out of college for something that I can be very successful at and can prosper
In this highschool what I wish to accomplish is to finish what I started and learn some more languages because I'm actually interested in world culture. I also wish to improve my skills in algebra because I genuinely fail at that subject. Something else I've been looking forward to was to find a new hobby maybe join some extra curricular after school activites or somthing (School events, student organizations etc). But I'm still always willing to learn new things as usual, I don't find having an education, boring, it's actually something to look forward to. Something else I'd love to accomplish is to figure out what my future carrer would be because even though I had nearly all my life to think about it I literally don't know what I want to be, I think that going to highschool would help me decide my carrer choices.
As for personal goals I am always trying to relieve stress. I tend to be actively involved on campus with CRU, CAB, Nonprofit Leadership Student Association, Kappa Phi and so on. This can at times be so overwhelming with school, especially since I
Graduating from high school has always been the ultimate goal for me. But of course after graduation, much more lies ahead, like college and choosing a career, but graduation comes before all of these things and so it seemed the most attainable/stable goal to reach. In middle school, my increase in motivation to study did me well, as I started to get placed into higher level English.
Academic stress can take complete control over the student enduring it. Researchers say that the most common form of anxiety causing academic stress is achievement anxiety. This type of anxiety is likely to occur when a student has a fear of failure in an academic related situation. However a report conducted in 2000, Research in Higher Education” showed that academic stress and achievement anxiety can have a positive effect on a students grades. This is because students are aware of the fa...
