Being anxious can have multiple physical effects on an individuals health. The problem occurs when the fight or flight response is triggered daily by excessive worrying and fear. Due to this being activated, the individual may feel nauseous, trembling and twitching and muscle tension or experience digestive disorders and coronary artery disease. In the worst case a heart attack may present its self.
By feeling anxious about completing everyday life activities, the individual may distant themselves from participating in physical activity which may lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease and some cancers. A big issue regarding anxiety is self harm, this may include the individual physically hurting themselves, which has direct effects to physical health.

Anxiety can have diminishing effects on ones social health. If the individual is anxious in social situations, often know as social anxiety, they may isolate themselves from friends and family and withdraw from social situations. This causes the individual to feel lonely and worthless. As youth is an important time to build friendships that will last, by avoiding this due to anxiety means they may miss out on important social experiences.

Mentally, anxiety can make the health state of a sufferes mind, ill. It can not reach its optimal state as it is being crippled by anxiety. Feelings of panic, fear and uneasiness are all symptoms that can effect the mental health of an individual. People who suffer from anxiety may stand back from things in their life that made them happy and due to this it may lead to a poorer quality of life.

There are numerous treatments that are available through youth beyondblue that are suitable for any individual suffering from anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy recognises that persons way of thinking and acting, from this they then gather how it affects the way they feel. The consultant will then suggest ways to approach situations and teach the sufferer to shift their negative or unhelpful thought patterns and reactions to more realistic, positive and problem-solving approach. These are mostly effective if the individual suffering from anxiety applies them to their life and is persistent as well as optimistic that it will help them overcome it.
