Anasazi was an advanced culture that emerged 1300 years ago and they are also known as "the ancient ones". Anasazi culture became important in the south western part of the United States of America. They constructed large flat-roofed masonry structure which are known as pueblos in the Four Corners area in Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. The Anasazi culture was believed to appear as early as 5500 B.C.E. They are called "The Basket Makers" because they are woven skillfully and are very beautiful baskets that was found in sites where their culture was associated at. Anasazi had a high speed social structure which included trade, irrigation, agriculture, and storage. The Anasazi was well known for trading corn, beans, squash, and turquoise. Turquoise is a stone that is a beautiful greenish/blueish in color. A huge part of their everyday life consisted of trading livestock, clothing, and food. …show more content…

Anasazi religion believed in many Gods that were similar or related to nature, rain, crops, and animal. The Anasazi blessed the Rain God, Sun God and the Mother Earth. They held religious services in a underground room which was called kivas. Kivas was used to meet and make laws. They had a matriarchal society, which was a society dominated by women. Women was in charge of society.


The reason the Anasazi came to North American originally was in search of food. Anasazi relied heavily on the land for food. They produced corn and cabbages by turning desserts into gardens. Way after while more Indians came and so the villages managed wat3erways, dams, and the irrigation system to feed their population. Mainly all of the Anasazi food consist of food that they grew. Anasazi was well known for building roads around the Chaco Canyon which was ways of trading routes.
