Analysis of Group Work In the APS module, we have been allocated into different groups, and my group number is 48, our tutor is Barbara Allan. The contact numbers of the members were given and we were asked to finish a project on a team basis by using the information we learnt in this module. 2. Working process and group development ======================================== Initially I was really excited about this group work. As a foreigner, this was a good opportunity to practice my communication skills and group working skills. Consequently, I tried to contact our members by sending text messages and arranged the first informal meeting by the following week. Bass and Ryterband indicated that as "initial development of trust and membership" (Martin, J, 2002, P.191): when people meet up at first time, they always try to build trust and confidence to each other in order to prepare for the future work. Based on Belbin's the nine-team roles theory, my group was dominated by certain people who took the responsibilities, such as our coordinator and secretary. The rest of us were team worker, and responsible for researching and another member did the Website. Obviously, my group member built awareness of the group's aims and shared goals. In addition, every member also knew their established roles within the group and acted accordingly. Ideally, this should have been accomplished in the "storming' stage" of group formation. (Martin, J, 2002, P.192) The title of this project was "the impact of terrorism on tourism in UK." After we had decided, the title was separated into many parts and everyone needed to do one. My ... ... middle of paper ... ...ficult to arrange the time for meeting, so we used Email instead. We needed to send our research to the secretary, and she completed the whole report. 7. Conclusion ============= I think our group did not perform very well, although we finished the project and worked as a group. In the future group work I think I will become more activity. Hopefully, I can be braver to explain my own opinion and more tending to communicate with others. The key areas for future improvement would be clearer definition of targets and objectives and time management to ensure that we can reach a higher standard of group work. Group is defined as two or more individuals, interacting and interdependent who have come together to achieve particular objectives. The group members must be interacting and interdependent. An individual is unable to perform all the activities. Group formation has become inevitable to achieve organizational objectives. Groups may be found and accepted by the organization. It may also be informal which is not recognized but functioning in the organization. Sometimes, informal groups are more effective in organization. Group dynamics are essentially used to increase productivity and profitability of an organization.
According to Toseland and Rivas (2005), group dynamics are “the forces that result from the interactions of group members” (p. 64). These forces refer to either the negative or positive influences towards meeting members’ socioemotional needs as well as goal attainment within a group (Toseland & Rivas, 2005), like within my class work group experience. Some of dynamics that continue to emerge and develop in my group is the effective interaction patterns and strong group cohesion, which has generated positive outcomes and group achievement thus far.
Thanks to our project I was able to realize the mistakes I made that help impact my personality and what I would do next time. My group was able to efficiently work through this with hopefully flying colors even though there were some problems. The other groups in our class have also demonstrated what they can accomplish and were able to help me realize our mistakes. Now I am prepared and ready for my next project thanks to my group and the other groups in my
Mode Two or Groupwork literally centers on groups, irrespective of whether they are groups designed for therapeutic, educational or administrative purposes for example parent education or personal/social skills education (AASW, 2008).
In my opinion teamwork and collaboration is the most important competency for Nurse Leader. It is defined as ability to function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Effective teamwork and collaboration allows Nurse Leader not only provide high quality patient care, but also to advocate for the nursing profession and improve it. One of the most important message taken from the videos was that Power is what someone takes, not something what is given by others. Nurse leader should be able to recognise powers she or he has and use it to represent nursing profession as part of the team and make sure that it is heard and
I was not familiar with the members of my group at first. However, as we got to learn more about each other, working in a group naturally became more enjoyable. I wasn’t fond of the amount of writing that we had to do for our website, but knowing that my group was there to lend a hand to anyone of us who needed help really encouraged me to work hard. Being able to communicate easily with my group was also important when it came to working as a team. I felt that my group and I were able to work together pleasantly to complete this project. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with new people in future group
Teamwork is an important strategy that is found and accomplished in different circumstance and occupation. Teamwork demand number of skills to make this compelling in archiving in what it is you need to accomplish. Gathering of people and many groups, who step up with regards to through this technique, prefer to achieve more than a man who works separately.
The communication and dedication between my group members made this project a success. I believe that through the
In order to evaluate my role within the group, it is important to identify what makes a group. A group must firstly consist of more than three members, “Two members have personal relationships; with three or more there is a change in quality” of the personal relationship. (Bion 1961, p26) The group must have a common purpose or a goal in order to succeed. Having now completed my group work task, I can look back and reflect upon the process that my group went through to get to the presentation end point.
There was a huge and a high pressure government project which had to be completed in a short span of time. It had several teams associated with different
There are five fundamental conditions that recognize a group from a workgroup. To begin with is groups must be genuine. Genuine groups will be gatherings of identifiable individuals who really cooperate to accomplish a typical arrangement of goals. Second is groups require a convincing course. In order for everyone to be pulling in the same direction, they need to understand and embrace a shared purpose (Griffith & Dunham, 2015). The third group requires empowering structures. This implies including the correct number of the correct sort of individuals on the correct undertakings in the correct ways. Fourth is groups require a steady association. Everything must encourage achievement, from the practices and yield that are most prized or compensated, to the structure of the group's kin, frameworks, and procedures. In conclusion, groups require master instructing. An excessive amount of instructing centers around the person when it ought to be centered around collaboration and group process. By and large, to call a to call a gathering a group does not make them a group and longing for them to fill in as a group doesn't
Most people don’t have that many strong areas and others have very strong areas in their skills. Also some people skills are all good and have no problems with anything and don’t need to improve. There is nothing wrong with having weak points because you know that you can improve yourself and make things better. Also the strongest point you have is great because it can rub off on other people that need improvement. The skills you have can help you with jobs and activities also class work and some group work.
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
...one, therefore each member of the group plays an active role in the completion of the task. Also the project must include intellectually dense divergent questions, with multiple answers, and also include questions that encourage critical thinking skills. Having the freedom to think without the constraints of coming up with a single precise answer will imbue the students with the confidence to think differently, display their creativity and work at their own pace. Hereby leading to a more comprehensive and thorough answer which would encourage longer retaining of the information. This is a positive alternative for students because instead of having to stay awake all night and cramming for exams, and then forgetting the information as soon as the test is over. The students can finally acquire knowledge they can retain forever or; at least for a longer period of time.
...ogether to finish this project. No one member failed to work with the group and everyone pulled their weight during the course of this project.
