Our group has chosen industry code 32560 - The Toilet Preparation Manufacturing industry. This is a chemical manufacturing industry, comprises of mainly organizations involved in the “preparing, blending, compounding, and packaging toilet preparations, such as perfumes, shaving preparations, hair preparations, face creams, lotions (including sunscreens), and other cosmetic preparation”(U.S. Census Bureau, n.d).Some big players in this industry includes P&G, L’oreal, Unilever, Estee Lauder.

1.3 Production Process
Within the cosmetic industry, companies follow a standardized business model, comprising of procurement, the production, the logistics and eventually the sales to the consumers. During the procurement stage, raw materials are purchased and received from suppliers. The assessment of suppliers of raw materials are highly important, as they form an integral part of the environmental, social and ethical commitments made by the companies. Companies are taking into account of the environmental efforts and commitments these suppliers to ensure that their objectives are aligned.
The raw materials are then sent to the production shop to be processed in large containers and under certain conditions for product manufacturing. Certainly, active ingredients were used with abandon, notably arsenic, lead, and mercury.
