The Keirsey Temperament Sorter was created by Dr. David Keirsey, a clinical psychologist. It is a 70 item, questionnaire that is geared towards a person’s preferences and temperaments in the world we know. It figures out, based on your responses, if you are an extroversion or an introversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving. According to the test, I am an idealist, INFP, an introversion, intuitor, feeling, and perceiving, my motto being “making life kinder and gentler” (Wall, 2008).
I am an introvert, an introvert tends to rehearse what they’ll say before they say it, enjoys his/her "quiet time”, is perceived as a "great listener”, likes to share with a few "select" people, wishes he/she could be more forthcoming
I am the kind of person to bend over backwards just to meet the needs of others, often forgetting about myself. I sometimes go all day worrying about my friends that I forget I am even present in my own body. I am able to put myself in someone else’s shoes and understand them and their situation, yet I also wonder why no one cares about what I want. That itself is something I think about constantly, I spend a majority my time caring about what others want and never get that kind of care in return. Love cannot be defined in my eyes, it’s something you show rather than explain. I consider that a feeler, being caring and understanding, can be mistaken as a pushover, which comes to a
According to Wall, “These introverted intuiting types are full of enthusiasm and loyalties but rarely talk about them until they know you better. They tend to take on too much but manage to get it done anyway” (Wall, 2008). I am a super open person with people I get to know if I do not know someone I can close myself off until I sense that it is safe to proceed. I usually do bite off more than I can chew, it happened quite a lot in high school. At an art school, you need to learn how to balance your academics and your art major, I liked to add clubs and I enjoyed volunteering for extra things. I joined Spanish club, thespians, and I was a mentor of two or three students, all on top of choir music and homework. Yet, I always got things done, no matter how much I had to do.
“They are friendly, but often seem unsociable due to their self-absorption…Famous Healers: Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, George Orwell, and Richard Gere” (Wall, 2008). Being a friendly person is what I live for, if I’m not friendly at least once a day then I don’t feel accomplished. I do, however, seem unsociable due to my self-absorption. I believe I worry more about what to say than actually saying it. Once again, all of these characteristics make me an idealist, and just like Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn I am a
It can be a tedious task for a person to find another who share the same interests. That is why it is important to understand and respect other’s interests. Even if a certain topic doesn’t intrigue you, it may be a large part of someone else’s life. Having a broad knowledge on many different topics allows you to expand your connections with others and have intelligent conversations, increase your knowledge and theirs. In liberal art colleges, this is the message they try to embed in their students. It’s perfectly acceptable to have you passion, but it’s also important to be well
Ms. Galindo wanted to start analyzing her attitudes and actions. Therefore, Ms. Galindo completed The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II questionnaire from the book Please Understand me II. Her temperament type is NF or the Idealists. Her role variant is INFP which is the Healer.
I was given a chance to study art at Harrison and I could not be any happier to officially pursue what I love. Having been shy throughout middle school, I saw high school as an opportunity for me to do a one-eighty with my life, to start with a clean slate. By pushing myself to be more open, I quickly made friends and felt like I belonged. Of course this was only the tip of the iceberg; I was not ready for the events that would ensue. Drama would brew amongst “friends” and school work gradually became more difficult. As the years progressed I began to notice a sense of competition amongst my peers and I, which sometimes led me to doubt my own abilities. It was also amidst the stress and anxiety that I discovered my biggest habit and flaw: procrastination. The procrastination cycle is ruthless; I found myself staying up late and losing to do virtually every assignment up until now, senior
Rather than falling behind or losing materials that you’re organize and tend to keep things where you can find them easily. Introverted being shy or nervous with talking in front of the class where you tend to keep away from doing something in front of a class full of students or even working in groups. Introverts sometimes prefer to work alone and spend time by themselves rather than hanging out at parties, or social event that may make them uncomfortable or feel out of place. They also tend to have fewer friends because of socializing tends not to be a big part of the personality. Along with being mot calm/relaxed being able to keep calm about things and try to become stressed over things as easily.
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
Secondly, I surrounded myself with people with similar ambitions. Every semester my relationships either became stronger or I gained a new friend who I am able to study with. Their success was mine and vise versa. I also realize building bridges with students will last into the professional interpreting world.
According to Carl Jung’s typology theory each individual develops personal preferences which become the foundation for how they face life’s challenges and interact with others. Based on this knowledge Isabel Briggs Myers developed the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTI). This test helps individuals identify and study their individual preference and those of others. After taking the Jung Typology Test, which is based on the MBTI, it was confirmed that my four dominate personality preferences are Introversion, iNtuition, Thinking and Judging. Each personality preference is discussed in detail including strengths and weaknesses. The combination of the four make me a INTJ of the world. This is also discussed in detail including strengths, weaknesses,
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II identified my temperament as artisan, and the classic temperament report identified me as an ISTP, or Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving. The description of my temperament was dead on with my view of myself, especially the more in depth classic temperament. My strengths include an excellent ability to apply logic and reason to solve problems or discover how things work, and being high;y practical and realistic, however I will not function well in regimented or structured environments, as I will become bored or feel stifled. This temperament profile also correlates to my learning style, as the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II results also mention that I learn best hands-on, and states that ISTP’s are a master of their physical environment.
not selfish cares for his/her loved ones or people whom he/she loves but cannot really love and
The Jung Typology Test is designed to give the participant a 4-letter formula which describes strength preferences of one’s personality type. The formula is based on whether the participant favors Extraversion or Introversion, Sensing or iNtuition, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving when it comes to the participant’s general attitude. One will also receive a Temperament, which is based on one’s personality type formula, and can be used to make somewhat accurate predictions of the participants preferred behavior. In this essay I will discuss the results that I received after taking the test. Having a personality type that prefers extraversion, sensing, feeling, and judging comes with many strengths and weaknesses when working in
You’ve heard the advice before “get involved, join a club”, at the University of Montana (UM) we are a very large commuter college, involvement is a good way to develop relationships with other students and to create a sense of community for yourself and others.
SC: You write about the importance of positive social interactions. What does this mean for introverts, who often prefer their social time in smaller doses, with closer friends, and punctuated by solitude?
The four-temperament profiles consisting of analyzers, supporters, creators and directors “demonstrates how learning styles and personality types are interrelated”, (Bethel University, 2013). The temperament profile test consists of fourteen questions in a multiple choice format. The highest total in a particular category yields your results. Surprisingly, prior to completing the questionnaire I expected to fall into the creator category. “The key word for creators is experience”, (Bethel University, 2013). Experience is something I felt I have plenty of. That being said, that was not the results the test yielded on my behalf. Overwhelmingly the results placed me into the directors’ category. The “directors are dependable, self-directed, conscientious,
I recognize the value you would have, if only you had made your presence known for more than the briefest of glances, leaving me unsure whether I ever really saw you. The few people I have encountered that seem to have a close relationship with you make me uncomfortable. I simply do not understand them and have difficulty spending an extensive amount of time with them. I tend to describe these people as gullible and with phrases like, “Soft heart; softer head”. It has appeared to me that the very few empathetic people I have encountered have a tendency to focus more on everyone else rather than themselves.
According to the Keirsey temperament sorter assessment, the temperament type that fits my personality is ESTJ (Extroversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) (Keirsey & Bates, 1984).
