An Evaluation of Grease
My film that I choose was Grease because it contains music, dancing
and humor. It is a cross between comedy and teen movies. It is a
tribute to the Broadway show of the 1950's. It was directed by Randal
Klieser and was released on July 7th 1978. The music and dance scenes
are what attracted me to Grease. My favorite characters are John
Travolta and Jeff Conaway who play Danny and Kenickie. I like these
two because they are your typical high school popular boys who are
always looking out for each other, looking good and they are always
trying to get the beautiful girls but at the same time acting cool
like it doesn't bother them. I had high expectations of Grease and I
lived up to each and every single one of them. I learnt about this
film through television and newspapers.
We used three simple words from everyday media. Firstly narrative is
from the Latin word narra, meaning the way a story is told. Many
theories have been applied to the creation of stories. Tzvetan
Torodovs 5stages of narrative. He said that all plots had 5 major
components. These 5 components are equilibrium, disruption,
complications, climax and resolutions (also called new equilibrium.
The story begins with a situation of normality although not
necessarily a positive one. An event changes the story, which involves
the struggle of the characters to restore the equilibrium or reach
their goal. The story reaches a point where the equilibrium or goal
hangs in the balance. Normally the equilibrium is restored or a new
equilibrium is established. Grease used this theory because the
equilibrium is Rydell high the normal high school, the disr...

mistakes in it. The four typicals are settings, tag names, genre, and
narrative. The typical settings are the high school and the diners.
The typical tag names is a blonde, an exchange student, the grunger,
the rebel, the geek, the beautiful girl, the ugly girl, the stupid
parents, the teacher and the popular guy. The typical genre is comedy,
romance and a teen movie. Finally the typical narrative is Tzvetan
Torodovs 5stages of narrative. The main things that I found out bout
Grease was that the narrative and the settings were surprisingly good
and the best bit of the film is that it is a mix of genre so it suits
everybody's needs and the worse thing would have to be settings
because all teen movies are always set in America and I personally
think that they should set a Grease like film over in England.
Many great scientists have found lost cities and great treasures, how? By making mistakes. Mistakes have led to great discoveries and rich people. Many errors lead to lost treasure, making new things, and you can learn from them; so you do not make the same mistake again. Therefore, mistakes are crucial part of a discovery.
In the short story Greasy Lake, Boyle told of the changing of boys to men in one night. When it was cool to be bad. Senior year in high school, 19 years old and stupid. Not having any real clue as to the real world works, Driving mom's cars using dad's money. In Greasy Lake, T.C. Boyle used the theme of being bad by using the different characters to symbolize someone always trying to be more than they really are.
"Genre: A group of films having recognizably similar plots, character types, settings, filmic techniques, and themes." (Konigsberg:165) The Genre of this film is difficult to define because it is not composed of a single agenda. The director makes a point of talking about Tosh’s life, but because of the cinematic themes and the film’s style it is not solely a documentary. This film is also a multimedia film because elements of music and concert footage are added to the essential plot. This film is avant-garde in it’s nature. "Avant-garde [refers to films that] deny the traditional narrative structure and techniques of commercial films by seeking to explore new modes of visual and emotional experience." (Konigsberg:25) It could be considered an anthology film, because of the various concert footage that is woven throughout the movie. "An Anthology film is a full length film made up of excerpts from other films which are related by some theme [or] the appearance of the same performer." (Konigsberg:16)
If I were to give Ponyboy another assignment, I would ask him to write about what he wants to be when he grows up. I would ask him this because I would be curious to see if he want to stay a greaser or change. I would also wonder if he would want to continue his path and maybe become a teacher.

Dwight Lyman Moody has once said "Character is what you are in the dark," which is proposing that people hide who they truly are in lightness because they're afraid to let society know the real them. Society has become cruel and they force people to do things they don't want to, but at the same time, society can bring out the better side of you.
In one particular scene, director was truly a great one, featuring special focus on his dad life and the Colorado River. It was so cool to highlights of the movie by one of his favorite poem written by his dad when he was born, the Important Place. Also, this film was a good length, not excessively long but long enough to tell the story. This is really important today there were no such unwanted scene in the film, which literary the most closely and accurately delivered. In my opinion, this film is forced to possess the characters of a great aspect, and turns to make for quite the adventurous. There was no special character encounter rather than his dad, learned something from the secret Colorado River. Another great aspect of the film was the special footage that were introduce in this film was an enjoyable aspect to be a good documentary film, and that’s how this film is different from the rest.
...and several more keeps you and your emotions on a roller coaster ride. Which is brilliant because we all know that as humans we adhere to stimulation and that is what it does, it stimulates us by incorporating all these emotions and jumping around with them. With the movie it also adds a score and soundtrack as well as camera shots and things that appeals to our senses that much more. At least it does for me.
Baz Luhrmann has done this film in a unique and brilliant way, with help of the above, and of course a great loved story as a base.
Romero achieves this through the various instances in which he encapsulates and viewpoint than most Hollywood movies during the time of its release such as the portrayal of an African-American as the main character. This sequentially assists to the films depiction of the hero and ands to its appeal. Such are some of the creative elements which Romero has demonstrated through the film. Although the movie setting is from laid-back technological production, the film's footage shots and sound effects are effective compared to the production during such times. The movie has sufficiently demonstrated its appeal with great motion and sound effects. It would be best feasible for individuals who have not had the chance to entertain themselves with the film to do
This film also has the aspects of both mystery and thriller genres. Dramatic pacing, unpredictable
I’m a huge fan of horror films and some of the things I really liked in this one where the music and choice of scenery. From the beginning of the film to the end, the music sounds very creepy and gives you a feeling that something is always about to happen that will have you jumping out of your seat. I really see the music as a hit or miss when it comes to horror films and I saw it here as a hit. Regarding the scenery the film for the most part takes place in a house that’s in the middle of nowhere, that gives you
With the help of superb editing, sound, mise en scene, and cinematography, this film cannot be topped. The fist scene of the movie creates an atmosphere that helps the viewer know that he/she will enjoy this wonderful classic. Throughout the movie there are surprises and fun that makes this a movie that people will want to watch again and again. Gene Kelly said it best when he said, "Dignity, always dignity. " That is what this movie has from beginning to end, dignity.
This implication is shown in all three studied films with Singin' In The Rain being a romantic musical, Grease being a coming of age musical and Hirspary being a coming of age drama musical. In Hirspray, the genre hybridisation is quite apparent with the racial inequality issues that are faced in the film along with the drama and coming of age aspect of the film. With the genre of being musical mixed with one or more genres it expands the target audience by bringing in people who enjoy coming of age films and drama films as well as those who are interested in Black Civil Rights. This expansion of genre also changes how musicals are viewed, not subjecting them to only being amusical but allowing them to be more by combining romance or comedy or other possible genres. The charcteristics of breaking into song and dance and the grand finale also effect genre hybridisation in films as they can change how a film pans out, with what the songs say and how the grande finale concludes the film, making it sad or happy ie. weither charcters graduate or not. In 'Singin' In The Rain' the romantic songs help to shape the film into a romantic musical hybrid, for example the grande finale of 'Hairspray' with the integration of black and white people shapes the filmas one that deals with Blck Civil Rights and also a drama musical. Genre hyrbridisations expansion of ausience and genre brings in more money for the director(s) and industry by how it provides a larger, more diverse audience that it would have been previously. Genre Hybridisation can make films extremely successful, as shown by the film 'Grease' which is now known known world wide, had massive soundtrack sales and is still popular
Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction is one of the most daring, puzzling, and ultimately exciting pieces of cinema to hit the screen in years. As wholly original as it is a copy of hundreds of films before it about tales of hit-men and criminals, it dares you to step out of the dull and enter a colorful, exhilarating world that could only be Los Angeles. The intensity level of the movie is off the scale. People are laughing like crazy in the theater to the intelligent dialog and other scenes that have the audience gasping for air in shock over what just happened. Although one might say that Pulp Fiction is overly violent and disturbing, it is in fact, one of the greatest movies ever produced. Quentin Tarantino’s incredible screenplay, the intensity of the actors, and music to set the mood, created movie worthy five stars.
